Airlines should hire Brady for each individual flight in place of their black boxes. If they slam into a mountain range he'll be the lone survivor who will be able to climb back to civilization and tell the story. Hard as nails.
"Oh boy, I wonder where's the lunch box. Can't do anything without proper lunch in the 1st place. Sorry, I need to remove your cold dead arms. I have priority."
I'm Welsh and being tasked to draw the flag when we were in school was definitely an exercise in futility. They looked more like weird red dogs with a loopy tail. I do love the flag though, it's wonderful. Cymru am byth!
I just recently found this channel by watching CGPGreys videos. I love podcasts now :D I love listening to you guys whilst doing brain afk stuff. Keep it up :*
Well, that's false. The Antonine wall was actually built to keep out the Picts, whereas Hadrian's wall was a bit further to the south (I'm fairly certain that it goes from Northumberland to Cumbria, correct me if I'm wrong). Scots weren't around at that point in time, the tribes to the south of the Picts were Brythonic which is a culture more closely related to Welsh and the Picts were conquered a while after by Cinaed MacAilpin and merged with the Goidellic peoples that had settled in the realm of Dal Riata (modern day Argyll in Scotland).
22:07 "I bet every day of their life, Texans are sad that they don't have an official Texas emoji to use. I bet they're sad every day. Sad Texans. *In their hats.* " LOL
Since Greenland has an emoji and Greenland being a part of the Danish kingdom, the UK's countries should have an emitocon too.. (Greenland has a population of a small city)
for me almost all of those places they go to in tv adventure might as well be in the moon. being poor makes the world more mysterious and wonderful and dreamy
Grey, let me tell you this. Running is about accepting your inner masochist and struggling along in an uncomfortable/almost painful state. You'll be shocked how much easier distances come that you once had trouble with. Do this for a week and you'll understand what I mean.
I'm wondering if there's something wrong with my text-messaging app. I'm looking at my choice of emoji, and all I see are 10 flags. South Korea, Japan, Germany, China, USA, France, Spain, Italy, Russia, and the UK. Canada didn't even make the cut... but yeah, I'm certainly not seeing all sovereign nations. Do most messaging apps include all 200 flags?
The hero principle: When a hero comes to town, all the sneaky(spellcheck wouldn't spell ken-I-ving) villains have to rush their plans, or face certain doom.
As an official by-birth Texan, I can verify that we are sad every day that there is no Texas state flag emoji. Also, how is there no chips and salsa emoji?! Come on, emoji people! :D
Hello Brady! I went to buy a fractureme print but their website says "hellointernet" is a disabled code. That's a different message than I get when I put in random characters so I think something might be wrong between you and them. Best of luck!
MAN👏BRADY👏SURE👏MUST👏HATE👏THIS👏KIND👏OF👏THING👏 And also (say it with me): THIS SHIT AS WELL THIS SHIT AS WELL THIS SHIT AS WELL THIS SHIT AS WELL THIS SHIT AS WELL
any serious brexit supporter predicted that the pound would fall directly after, but it would be shorter term than this doomsday sky is falling remain notion.
I find it baffling that someone like Grey can interpret a 52% vs 48% result as "the will of the people"; especially when the choice was "Steak Shack or Veggie Villa".
I'm genuinely curious what the average consumer age is of this podcast. I am 19 and have been listening since around the 20th episode. Is it mostly people older than me, or am I in the majority? Would love to know.
I dont live in europe, but i do feel invested in the brexit as its everywhere in my newsfeed. I didnt think it was a good idea for uk to leave, but now im like, ha! thats what u get for thinking ur so mighty or something
Brexit is a great idea. The UK can offer free trade, which is always good for each country involved, and doesn't have to take in the huge library of EU regulations. They'll take some, but not all. Additionally the UK can more easily micro-manage its immigration, better making sure that immigrants are productive. It's the same with any country being a sovereign state.
The UK is still at an advantage if it doesn't have tariffs toward any given country. The EU is still at a disadvantage if it charges tariffs to products from the UK. It would be better still for the both if the EU didn't require one freedom to get the other, but they shouldn't feel compelled to shoot themselves in the head just because they've been shot in the foot.
The Brexit could come out to be succesful, but this depends on the deal that the EU and Great Britain form. I don't think that the EU will give Great Britain a deal in which they only get the benefits from the European Union and not the disadvantages. Otherwise other European countries might want to do the same, which could lead to the destruction of the Union. So it's really a flip of the coin, whether Great Britain will profit from Brexit or whether Great Britain will have to follow the same rules and circumstances without taking part in the making of these rules.
17:09 isn't that advertisement a case book example of selling out? After all, cgpgrey has previously made very clear his dislike of physical items used as memory preservers. However, this advertisement is about just that. I don't appreciate that much, but that might just be me. If you advertise content, I feel it should be a service you use or would want to use.
It blows my mind to hear about the impression of an overwhelming likelihood that Scotland leaves in the UK in the event of Brexit, at least as an American used to seeing states overwhelmingly vote for the presidential candidate that loses. Is the UK so unused to that?
I don't know how likely it would end up being that Scotland leaves the UK, but the difference with your example is that Brexit is permanent whereas presidential elections aren't. People can vote for a new President every 4 years but with Brexit it was just 1 single vote at 1 single point in time that has a permanent outcome for future generations.
there is also the fact Scotland was already going to leave but did not because the eu said they would not just be part of the eu they would have to go through the whole process. but now they are toll they are going to leave the eu anyway the separatist idea is back.
After loving CGPGrey's videos I decided to listen to the podcast. It was interesting. A bit of a 'do I want to listen to this' with the america bashing going on and on but eh...
Oh come on Brady, it's unfair to say that the sovereignty argument was just an empty slogan. It was pretty straightforward. It was about taking control over the immigration, certain regulations and trade relations with the countries outside of the EU. Grey mentioned the doublethink from 1984 saying that according to the Brexit proponents having no say in the EU is somehow having more control. It wasn't about the UK's control over the EU, EU's control over the UK. According to the leave people, despite the fact that technically UK had a say in the EU, it has never been able to affect any policies. Speaking of the 1984 analogies, the most hardcore sovereignty argument probably sounded something like "The EU is gaining more and more power over its members while turning into an undemocratic superstate controlled by unelected bureaucrats, who are not accountable to anybody, and who's names nobody knows. We need to take the control over our country back to the UK government which is accountable and electable." We can absolutely disagree with the whole argument, but calling it an empty meaningless slogan is just dishonest.
52% of the country are racists huh? Sounds like someone's trying to label everyone who disagrees with them a bad word to justify ignoring what they say.
Tho there is no doubt that a good chunk of the brexit voter came from the questionable right area. But of course not all of them and calling them all "racist" is just SUPER counter productive.
only if parliament betrays the people and then maybe. in theory she dose have that power and it is auto enacted on each time we change parliament but parliamentary dissolvement has never happend hence the weird maybe probably no in theory yes but.
Perhaps you will enjoy the events leading up to H-Day in Sweden (99percentinvisible.org/episode/h-day/) , where the referendum result to remain driving on the right was revoked for a "better" decision by professionals.

WHAT. AN. EPISODE.
Love the little wind-up toy. I could watch that for hours on my desk.
There's no doubt I watched the whole podcast without skipping and then commented
As did I, friend. No doubt at all.

and scotland, you are on notice. the wall just got 10 sheep taller
oh the great Hadrian wall, build so that Scots could finally stop fighting the Romans and go back to fighting their eternal enemy, the Scots.
Well, that's false. The Antonine wall was actually built to keep out the Picts, whereas Hadrian's wall was a bit further to the south (I'm fairly certain that it goes from Northumberland to Cumbria, correct me if I'm wrong). I will be okay with having the state flags as emojis, the day Flaggy Flag is an emoji.
recycled audio for brexit briefly? 1:26:29
yep ;)
This was the first podcast i listened to fully (usually i dont like podcasts but i like hello internet). Awesome job!
EPISODE 67 WAS JUST UP AND I LEAVE FOR ONE SECOND!DOCTOR BRADY MUST HAVE DONE SOMETHING
I get exactly how Brady feels about adventuring.
50:10 I would love to see this segment animated.
They should have called this: A. CLASSIC. EPISODE.
You know what state flag would be highly distinguishable? Colorado!
I was in a train listening to the podcast and then the emoji argument came up, I kept laughing so everyone was staring at me 😂😂
I love this podcast
Does it matter.
Anyone know where I can find this little red octopus robot, or at least what it's called/from?
14 minutes ago? Luckily I listen at 8 times the speed so I can talk about the podcast now.
"If you've got a relative, or a friend, or a partner you can never go wrong with a reunion swamphen."
What if you could long press a country's flag to open up the state flags of that country (similar to how you get the variations of vowels)
I accidentally skipped to the end! I had to watch it all over again, ~oh no~
for me almost all of those places they go to in tv adventure might as well be in the moon. being poor makes the world more mysterious and wonderful and dreamy
I knew Brady's voice sounded familiar. I love numberphile.
"Look, little Timmy, look at the horrid wreckage of a plane crash where many people died!"
best laughs in an episode so far, true classic one indeed
ive been listening to hi podcasts since no.1

I'm not a doctor, but I'm diagnosing Brady with a severe case of FOMO.

Since we have the home nation flags coming, maybe we can get the regions too?
I find it baffling that someone like Grey can interpret a 52% vs 48% result as "the will of the people"; especially when the choice was "Steak Shack or Veggie Villa".
At 52:49 did he say Me-Me instead of Meme?
Jeeto he meant memey as if something is meme like
wait so Grey is no longer uh...snapchatting? Snapping? Using snapchat?
i just lost all my motivation to install snapchat again
For the Union Jack I would have just made the bottom half of the flag that's blue, I would just make it green to represent Wales.
22:13 Yeah, but for Texans there’s the Chile flag which nearly indistinguishable
The video widget is terrifying

By the way, the Snapchat conversation kills me every time. And Grey has got to stop saying "The Snapchat". xD

Yes! Desk toys are back.
Haven't gone through this entirely. But why didn't you talk about Brexit last episode?
BEST. EPISODE. EVER
I'm wondering how serious Grey was about Destin's stocks in Snapchat.
The right amount of science funding is the amount that each individual collectively wants to give to science.
Not if a condition of free trade with the EU is free travel
The UK is still at an advantage if it doesn't have tariffs toward any given country. The EU is still at a disadvantage if it charges tariffs to products from the UK.
It would be better still for the both if the EU didn't require one freedom to get the other, but they shouldn't feel compelled to shoot themselves in the head just because they've been shot in the foot.

what is the spider thing
As of now, 2 months after the referendum, the FTSE 100 and FTSE 250 are at an all time high. Just gotta give it a bit, LADS.
You've been able to upload pictures to snapchat for a while now.
However, this podcast was probably recorded a few years ago, so, that's why. ;)
There was another option. You could have examined the vote to see if there was any voting procedural issues to allow a second referendum.
I think many people who voted for leaving were elderly people who have an more old-fashioned national perspective.
put this at .5 and here a drunken brady explain to a unimpressed gray

Hello Tims!!
nooooo, new HI and i have to leave for the evening
I was born in England and I don't hate Welsh people. I mean, I don't actually know that many...but I don't hate any of them!
The brexiters we're also called racists, don't forget that.
Wow. Remainers were desperate.

1/2 a pizza=2 😂😂
I fear trump will turn out like brexit 😢
basicilly the brexit section is just his "brexit, breifly" video in podcast form
well the Canadian flag is rather new compared to most countries and isn't very crazy.

It's a Martian Invader by Schylling.
