He is so good at staying still, that's so good. Most his age squirm so much that they go underwater and obviously it's bad staying still keeps you afloat and it's better
I would have to disagree. We've been going to this program for 2 years now and I've seen a multitude of children go through the program now. Most children do amazing and have no issues
Nope this is traumatic for children. This one didn’t look as bad as some videos I’ve seen where they keep throwing them in the water and come up screaming. Being conditioned( forced) to go underwater and swim is traumatic and scary for children, their trust is shattered. The other video I saw they kept tossing the toddler in over and over again and out a shirt over his face, it looked like abuse. This one looks a bit more mild, but still traumatic. Most babies drown from small buckets anyway so these lessons play on parents fears. If a child is screaming he shouldn’t be forced, children learn through play and modeling. This is exhausting for babies.
We've been going to Little Squirts Aquatics for 2 years now. I assure you that there wasn't anything "traumatic" about his experiences with them. Any crying he did do was mo worse than he cried if he dropped his binky and wanted it back. He is now 27 months old and he absolutely LOVES the water. He can now swim the length of the pool. I'm sure there are ISR instructors out there that might not practice the best methods. But we are very happy with Little Squirts and what they are able to achieve with their program.
@@Korpserott that’s good to hear. I saw a video of this lady doing ISR and she kept flipping the boy in the water over and over, he came up screaming. She then proceeded to throw a towel over his face, I have no idea what the purpose of that was and it looked utterly horrific. She also flipped him 4 times which is super scary and traumatic for a child.
@@Korpserott It causes developmental issues. The survival, fight or flight part of the brain becomes overly used and develops a fight or flight response when other children would be calm, your child may be ready to run or fight. It's just not good to do this over and over to a baby. They need a secure attachment at this age and this will most likely damage that. They will be waiting for what else could happen, especially, or even mostly with water. There are classes that don't involve the child having to go into survival mode that do just as well teaching a baby to swim.
You're correct! ISR training is designed to be traumatic. The trauma of learning the life treating potential of water is important for infants aged 1-4. The leading cause of accidental deaths of infants is drowning. The much greater danger to children of this age group would be to place them in flotation devices everytime they enter the water nurturing a false sense of security in the one place they are most likely to die.
I LOVE this program for children!
I hate it
@@paytynbonsall its worth it

@@ammcroft I don't think that's right. I looked into it and found no evidence to support your assumption.
