In high school I chose black friends, but was pulled aside at age 14, and told I was noticed walking down the hall with my black friends...told not to do that! It happened again when I was working in 1964, and invited my friends to church! I saw Sammie Davis Jr, in a movie, in which he played US marshal. The racial discrimination, was so blatant and cruel, that I wanted to smack everyone of those people, who had been acting that way. I was so glad, that at the end of the movie, the father of the girl, called him friend, and the US marshal, also called him friend. My mother was also afraid of black people. However, she had completely changed her views, when she had gotten older. One of her best friends, was one of the nurses that she worked with😊😊😊

@@winonamassingill7895 The film takes some time to start due to the huge list of production companies involved in the production, which, at first, left me with lowered expectation. After all if they had to shop the world to get it made, how good could it be? More on that later.
I was very wrong and very happily surprised.
This film was excellent! The story was captivating the acting was award worthy and the filmography and effects were amazing. Although the dialogue was a bit corny at times, it was delivered expertly by everyone. In all it was a must see movie.
And it wasn't long before I discovered why it took so many companies to make this film: It was NOT a typical Hollywood movie. In fact Hollywood would not have made this film. Why? Because it did not play into the politically correct, anti-religious, ultra-liberal agenda that has become required today to make a film there. In fact, this film was pure entertainment, no brainwashing, no political message, no forced scenes that have nothing to do with the story but are necessary to get past studio PR department. Nope, this film was from the old school, a story with drama, a touch of comedy, tragedy and amazing action.
And it was and absolute JOY to watch a film without feeling that you were being manipulated with some underlying message that supports the message of the loud and vocal without having anything to add to the story.
This was a REAL movie, with REAL actors, with a REAL story that kept you on the edge of your seat until the very last scene.
If you, like me, are tired of the propaganda inspired crap that has been coming out of Hollywood for the last decade then you have got to see this movie. Thanks to everyone involved in this move. It is nice to see that not everyone in the entertainment business has sold out. Hopefully your bravery will inspire others to start making MOVIES again.

It is very difficult to find quality images of certain eras that I can use in a video. Some images are so poor quality that it’s hard to tell what’s on it, but it also happens that there are no images of a particular thing at all. For a video, I use about 140 photos, but I’m already happy to find 80 usable photos of an actor/actress. I try my best, to make the videos better and better, but it's not something that always depends on me. I find it better, if I show random good pictures of someone, than nothing at all. Dawn Wells, who died recently, said she never saw a dime of residuals. The creator, Sherwood Schwartz, did. He got $90 million in residuals. Kim Novak said on the day that she last saw Sammy Davis, Jr.,that the last thing that he had said to her was that he has always loved her. That she was his true love. Davis’ present wife was waiting outside the Davis’ hospital room. I guess she knew about Kim and Sammy.
The first film I ever saw Kim Novak in was Of Human Bondage with Laurence Harvey. Her portrayal of Ivy was sensual and a little unnerving, because she had Phillip(played by Harvey)wrapped around her finger.
Back in the days of Hollywood, the following can end an actor/actress’s career. Alcoholism, drug abuse and addiction, gay, lesbian or bisexual, lack of professionalism and romantic/sexual relationships with non-white people even if they are well known. The studio system placed everyone in Hollywood under a magnifying glass. Some were scrutinized more than others. In the case of Harry Cohn and other studio bosses, they felt that they are in power and they can end an actor’s Career with a word from them because they built them(actors) up and they can easily tear them apart without hesitation and a single thought.
Kim Novak was a very courageous woman who followed her heart and didn’t care what what anyone thought or said.

Norman Kelley made a very valid point that it was not until 1967 that the USA passed laws about inter-racial marriage.
There is a big "however" in
    those laws.
I may be speaking to the converted or the long standing people of tolerance but the following sentence sums it up.
Pass all the laws you like
but until you get the souls and minds of a nation to
    live together peacefully
and with love in their hearts
    towards all people regardless
of colour or creed all these laws are useless.
    Four years of Trump has
    shown us that.
We have a long and hard
    way to go.

Sammy Davis endured prejudice at its worst in Hollywood. Speaks volumes to who he was that he stood against it. When he and the "rat pack" were booked in Vegas, the White stars stayed in the hotel to which they would appear. Sammy was relegated to the west side which was the "black" side. I am a "white" 70 yr old woman. Yes the story as presented is a sad commentary in any time and place. Speaking without knowing the man, Cohen was a personal ass. However, like him or not, the way he ran his studio, was the way it was. They did own you and Kim N. Knew that when she signed the line.
She wasn't the first or the last. Of course bigotry will eventually give you a heart attack. I understand Davis' actions to settle things down. That poor man was beat down a lot in those days. God bless him.
But his bestie FS and DM were VERY close to R. I wonder where these two were when all these threats were flying. Seems odd. Davis backed off- then later married May Britt( white fair blonde) He had the same racial issues then. But Britt was not an actress in US. The marriage didn't last. Both Kim and Sammy showed a lot of courage. I don't think that marriage would have lasted either. All through the years Kim was close to the "rat pack". I think she and Sammy were very kind people.
