WD40. Apply to the sticky, wait no more than 5 minutes otherwise it will begin to harden with the goo. After 5 minutes use a scraper. Simple as that. Oh, and I've learned to always use primer over dark colors. Kilz works just as well.
@Waynaworld I would have done the same thing and removed all the upgrades, repainted, and tried to leave the unit in its original rental condition. All of the upgrades can be used in your new location.
Would not taking the upgrades down effected your credit score? How much money in upgrades can you actually keep when you took it down? Low key the property should give you a little money for upgrading the space so we'll lol
I almost cried watching this! I just moved out of my apartment into a 5 bd house and I’m so grateful to God! I remember watching your videos back when I moved into my first apartment after a divorce and wanted to make my apartment feel like a home. I feel like we were going through all of these changes and blessings together sis!! 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽 Praise God!
This message warms my heart so much!!! Congratulations on your new beautiful home, wow 5 bedrooms I love it! 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾 cheers to our new chapters 🥂 Be blessed, sis!
I know you said that this was not a planned move but that last video you did something in my Spirit said okay we about to be moving.. Truth be told I would have let the Landlord tour the apartment first before I started the work. That apartment looked so nice I am sure they might have said they would have kept most of the stuff. I was so tired just watching you work especially the painting and the removal of the flooring. I am so happy for you and I wish you all the best going forward.
A few ppl caught the good bye vibes in the last video. This apt is one of those large apartment complexes. They wanted everything restored back to white and basic.
Gurrrrrl you deserve 2 standing ovations 👏🏽 One for all the BEAUTIFUL upgrades you added. And the other for the work and effort it took to return the apt to its original condition. BRAVO! I for sure couldn't undo everything, pack, move, and then upgrade the new place. You are truly ahhh-mazing.
You did an amazing job. I watched you on my rental journey after temporarily leaving my house for a new career. I moved to SD, and the job didn't work out. Then I moved to Texas, and I love it there after 6 months. I recommended you to my daughter as she moved into a rental until their house is built. Thank you.
you did a great job of putting it together and taking it apart. I've been in my apartment 5 years and i've done nothing lol. I see all the work it took for you to take things down/apart not for me. lol Congrats on your move. New memories.
I've told you before, you single handedly changed the way I looked at my apartment. I remember binging your content and, soon after, I transformed my space. To one that I love. Ever thankful and grateful. Onward and Upward!
Congratulations! You inspired me to do some DIYs too. I didn't realize how much you tailored that apartment to fit your style. The before and after was like night and day. Looking forward to watching you create a masterpiece at your new place. Many Blessings!
I'm in my home and you inspired all the renovations and for that, I can't thank you enough. I truly look at my living spaces differently, especially utilizing intentional storage and organization options. So happy for you on this new journey. I know your next place is gonna be amazing as well.
🎉❤🎉 you are moving!!!! A sista was praying that you would. I am so excited and look for to your new beginnings!!! Blessings and do not hurt your shoulders because you have too much celebrating to do!!😊
Wow, that apartment is huge. Thank you for sharing. This has taught what works and does not. I like the to do post its. I am not sure I would do peel and stick on countertops. I am curious as to the type of sub flooring to use to put down flooring. Good idea. Wishing you the best in your next chapter.
WOW!! I am amazed! I watched every single project you did. I was surprised about the years. I have been a member of Waynawold for some years! That counter top peel & stick made me want to do my own. Just like otner projects. So talented you are. Im happy for you entering your next chapter & look forward to the more ideas to come.
I think I found your channel with the brick peel and stick wallpaper. I used it in my 9 year old's office under the staircase. He's been there for at least 4 years and every time we have company all the kids migrate to that room. It is so easy to wash off crayons and sticky little finger prints.
Because of some of you’re renter friendly hacks made my ugly outdated old 3 decker 1st floor apt into a comfy cozy warm home & when I took it all out I was like wow 3 years I miss how big it was bc where I live now I can’t do nothing & I hate it bc it’s hard to make feel like a comfy cozy warm home bc it’s too modern industrial for my liking but I am grateful for having a roof over my head
😂 I hope the move is a blessing! It’s unfortunate that the next person can’t inherit the upgrades. What I can’t believe is that anybody would want you to restore it to what it was compared to how you improved it ! If you had a private owner, they would be ecstatic to rent it out with your upgrades. It’s good to see your experience with all of this. The good thing for me is that I do this kind of thing because I change my mind too often. That’s a double edged sword, but it’s good when you don’t want to have things stay long enough for the residue to remain.
Hey Sis I’ve been watching you for a long time and I purchased a lot of the products you have used over the years the but just never actually applied them but I think I need to posture myself to start living in GRATITUDE and be thankful for what I have now even tho it’s not what I want. And start turning my rented space into a dream space until God fulfills the desire home of my dreams!!! Thank you I can’t wait to see what’s next for you and the fam❤️❤️❤️
Congratulations on your new chapter in life. Can’t wait to see what is coming next for US😊 I’ve watched you transform most of, if not all of that apartment 😊. I definitely would have walked through with the landlord to see if they were interested in keeping some of that stuff upgraded Again Congratulations
If you can find the link for that faux brick contact paper please post it when you have the time. It's exactly what I've been searching for and I need that in my life. I don't want to get the wrong thing and wind up tearing up my walls. You did a great job putting it back to it's original condition. Although I've always been in the past, at this age I'm not sure i would've bothered with some of it, but you did the right thing.
Wow!! What a transformation!! You did that apartment! I feel bad for whomever move in going from that to this!! Can’t wait to see what you do to your new place!!
22:00 Well the contact paper on the counter top was a pain to remove; however, it proves that it’s durable considering it was applied over 5 years ago. So you got quite the use out of it.
Will you please provide the info on the mattress you’re jumping on? Look really comfy and I’m in the market to purchase one for my guest bedroom. TIA! ❤
Great job what you did by yourself Way and I prob wouldn't ended up paying someone to finish too lol. CONGRATS ON THE NEW LOVE, CAN'T WAIT TO SEE THE MASTERPIECE YOU CREATE THERE TOO! By the way, you always talked about how small the place was. Well w/it empty it looked pretty spacious lol.
Congrats on the move you did quite a bit of diys but everything you did was nice can't wait to see what you do in your new place I've been a subbie since the start
Tip for removing the peel and stick counter and the sticky floor gunk use a steam cleaner! It's too late for this time, but it might be helpful going forward or for someone else.
Maaaaan I would have at least asked them to Keep The Floor! Your updated floor was so much better than that mess they previously had. Shooot I would’ve wanted everything kept from the ceiling to the floor that you updated.
After seeing all the hard work it took to change the apartment back to its original look. I would never want to make such big changes to an apartment .
It’s now fully cured and hardened that’s what vinyl does it will just take real gusto to pull it off , my cabinet doors 9 and 4 drawers took me about 9 hours to strip and I had heat proof waterproof vinyl on them for 4 years
I was studying when this video first dropped and had you on mute. When I looked up, I thought to myself, "It's like she's..." and then it was confirmed later in the video. Congratulations.

You probably could have sprayed some fabric softener on that peel and stick to remove it. You'd have to get something l that could put small holes in it first. Something like a roller wheel with spikes.
A better solution to laying this flooring is to buy sheet vinyl flooring it’s a big roll very cheap comes in tiles laminate patterns you just lay it and cut to size , and because your a renter don’t even stick it down but if you must buy double sided flooring tape and place that along the edge of the room floor job done .

I hate contact paper for this reason. But, if I were going to use it this way, leave the backing on it in most areas. I'd only remove the backing in the perimeter and in limited sections on it. That might mean applying the contact paper in more sections.
The biggest and smartest thing to do when you move anywhere that your going to do up is ask what the original paint is and buy a very big tub of it and keep it in a safe place
I'm looking for a plain removeable peel and stick wallpaper right now. I am really scared of using one that's hard to remove/ causes damage to the wall.
WD40. Spray on the sticky residue, wait no more than 5 minutes otherwise it will begin to harden with the residue. After 5 minutes use a scraper. Simple as that. You've taught us all from that apartment, we've all been on the journey with you.
That's exactly what I did. I put down a beautiful interlocking tile on my patio that I left because I didn't want to undo it. The landlord knew exactly what apt I was moving from when I called to ask if I could leave it. I guess they heard about it lol and he said i could leave it. Besides, it most definitely could've been a selling point to a future resident AND I'M SURE they charged a LITTLE EXTRA ON THAT APT because of that tiled patio.
I spent $950 to restore this apartment... and my security deposit was $700 🥺I just wanted to do the right thing. What would you have done?
WD40. Apply to the sticky, wait no more than 5 minutes otherwise it will begin to harden with the goo. After 5 minutes use a scraper. Simple as that.
Oh, and I've learned to always use primer over dark colors. Kilz works just as well.
How much did it cost to have painters do the job and take care of the sticky floor and stuff? And the plumbing?
@Waynaworld I would have done the same thing and removed all the upgrades, repainted, and tried to leave the unit in its original rental condition. All of the upgrades can be used in your new location.
Left it
Would not taking the upgrades down effected your credit score? How much money in upgrades can you actually keep when you took it down? Low key the property should give you a little money for upgrading the space so we'll lol
Restoring the apartment to original condition: $950. The RUclips following, DIY experience, and confidence you gained…PRICELESS
Returning it to original condition was the right thing to do. Also letting us all know how the removals went will help us too and is great content
Thank you luv!

Does using a blow dryer to heat the peel and stick help make it come up better?
Maybe for the floor as well?
You just answered that. 😅
Congratulations❤❤❤
Thank you!
Tip for removing the peel and stick counter and the sticky floor gunk use a steam cleaner! It's too late for this time, but it might be helpful going forward or for someone else.

Congratulations.
Can you put shower curtains on the floor to keep the adhesive off the rental floor? 🤔
Yes, I did that in my bathroom and it worked better, I tried that after I laid this floor.
How you had your apartment decorated is what they show on the website. They when you get there, it looks like the after. LOL. I wish I would have done these types of upgrades in the rental home I'm in. It's not too late but I'm also trying my best to get up outta here ASAP. Been here 6 years.

Wait was that peel and stick on the bathroom cabinet too???
You probably could have sprayed some fabric softener on that peel and stick to remove it. You'd have to get something l that could put small holes in it first. Something like a roller wheel with spikes.
That was a huge apartment
Really?
@@Waynaworld yessss
A better solution to laying this flooring is to buy sheet vinyl flooring it’s a big roll very cheap comes in tiles laminate patterns you just lay it and cut to size , and because your a renter don’t even stick it down but if you must buy double sided flooring tape and place that along the edge of the room floor job done .
Use contact paper first before the tile on the flooring.
I was just wondering, did the landlord didn’t want any of the upgrades left behind? Like the kitchen peel and stick paper on the countertop? Bc it looke a LOT better than the original
I hate contact paper for this reason. But, if I were going to use it this way, leave the backing on it in most areas. I'd only remove the backing in the perimeter and in limited sections on it. That might mean applying the contact paper in more sections.
Its fun decorating and designing but not fun taking it down! Lol

Some of them you probably could have kept. It would have been a nice upgrade for the next tenant.
I would have spoke with the landlord first about what needed to be undone and what could be left before I redid everything
That's exactly what I did. I put down a beautiful interlocking tile on my patio that I left because I didn't want to undo it. The landlord knew exactly what apt I was moving from when I called to ask if I could leave it. I guess they heard about it lol and he said i could leave it.
