Pirates of the Caribbean, Davy Jones Cake.

- Hello all.
This is my Davy Jones Cake. I am really happy with how this cake turned out and I hope you like it to.
The body is a home made cereal bar, stacked and carved to shape. There isn't a lot of detail on the body but that it because it is covered over by tentacles.
The head is a sponged baked inside a skull cake tin.
For the head I made a cast of the cake tin and then built up the detail with clay. Once done I covered it with clingfilm and then with gum paste icing. This was the first time I have tried this method but it worked really well. The rest of the decoration is painted royal icing.
The same way with the hat, it is gum paste supported by cardboard hat template.
