Jen cursed lol 😂, I found that way too thrilling. Oh the market is so pretty, way too many ppl though. Glad u had a mommy day out we all need those pamper days.
Wow Jen! Amazing day!! I am watching your holiday vlogs now....i do every year lol. Thanks for sharing, you never lost your touch!! Amazing vlog, Thank you again!! xoxo from New Orleans, LA
You’re so incredibly lucky to have so much me time. Between the kids being out of the house half the day every weekday and being great afternoon nappers you have the luxury of me time that most mums can only dream of
Yes, I am very blessed and I am grateful most of all for my beautiful babies. It's a funny thing how time gets sapped up so quickly as a mom, isn't it. ✌️
Mama gone wild saying ass and everything 😂😂😂. I have missed your tour of the Kincaid? Christmas festival market. I hope you get to go back when it’s less crowded. Thanks for sharining
I love when you vlog! I remember your other Christkindle market vlogs too, and the beautiful stars that you bought. So glad you had a wonderful day out!
1. I love and miss your vlogs so this was great! I remember when you showed the Christkindlmarket years ago in a vlog and I would love to experience Chicago during this time of year :) 2. I wouldn't consider "ass" swearing but it was nice to hear. It felt very normal, y'know? 3. I LOVE the 'Spongebob' transitions, they're great! 😂
Are you no longer plant based? Since you were eating the eggs I was wondering. Also - I volunteered at the Christkindlemarkt in my city this weekend and it was wonderful!!
@@MsHalprin People shift and change through seasons of life. That's a pretty normal thing. Her original shock/strong reaction to the meat industry has probably worn off some, which is also normal. You can find a LOT of ex-vegans out there. Just search RUclips and listen to their stories. In addition, for some plant-based eaters, eggs are not super high on the list of avoiding, anyway. For others, even honey is off limits.
I loved this fun and casual blog. I’ve only been to Chicago a couple times, very briefly, so I really enjoyed “walking around” with you. Me time is so important. Thanks for letting us relax and reset with you!
I don't think I've ever been so early! I can't tell you how much I love your holiday vlogs :) Really really hoping you end up filming Christmas Eve or Christmas Day! Merry Christmas to you and your family!
I always eat at Native Foods when stopping in Chicago for work. It’s a great vegan junk food for when I am missing those types of flavors! They are very affordable and have wonderful deserts! Highly recommend for a quick casual vegan bite! Xo loved coming along!
Thx for the parking tips. My husband and I used to visit Chicago at least once a year but quit going because the parking fees were outrageous!! Loved staying at the Sofitel and shopping at the Water Tower and Michigan Avenue. I think last time we visited the valet parking at the hotel was over $70 a night and we spent $30 just parking for lunch. I just can't even!! Thx for taking us along! 👍🤗🎄💕
My middle child attends saic. I know on state street all the way down there is 15 all day parking some even as low as 8 dollars. Check the apps to find the best spots and fees.
Good for you! 💕 I remember the feelings, back when I would have a day away, of strange indulgent freedom mixed with repeating thoughts-wondering how things are going at home in my absence and the excitement of returning home to a big welcome! 😍
Love the ChristkindkMarket in Chicago. We haven't been in a few years but it was so fun the last time we were there. We didn't get the cute little mug with the drink in because it was so crowded! Thanks for taking us along! I believe there is one in Naperville now!
Thank you for posting this, Jenn! I’m traveling to Chicago for work this month and in all of my plant based research I hadn’t found that gorgeous restaurant at Saks. It seems like the perfect stop for me! So glad to see you had a fun day in the city! 🧡
I totally agree that us Mummas need some time to ourselves! I'm on leave from my work at the hospital this week & my wee boy is in day care & I'm heading into Edinburgh to the Christmas market for a wander! Have a lovely Christmas Jen xx
A little bit of self care goes a long way. I wish the people in my life would recognize that! I can’t even get a walk around the block by myself never mind enjoy something. Absolutely run ragged.
Loved this video! Wow, you are so brave for dealing with that crowd!! I for sure couldnt handle that at all. What a nice day you had. Mommies all should be able to treat themselves to time away from their kiddos. It is good for all. ♥️
I'm so glad you went again this year!! The market where I live is no where near on the level of the one you go to in Chicago. There's such beautiful wares at that market!! Thanks for sharing!
Looked like a perfect day. I worked downtown many years ago and loved that I could go to the market on my lunch. Still looks the same. At least you didn’t have today’s weather on Sunday.🥶
Love this! I recently took a road trip to Chicago with my family, and visited the Criskindlmarket. My husband ended up sitting with my four year old and 10 mo while I quickly browsed (aka grabbed mulled wine and a grilled cheese pretzel). So much fun, but difficult with small kiddos. 🎄💛
I have so much love for the years that we lived in that city. We went to the Christkindle market each year and I miss it dearly. We also have several of the nesting dolls like you showed. Did you not get any cider boot mugs this year?! My husband and I hope to get the one in Germany one day. I really enjoyed that trip down memory lane so thank you for sharing! It sounds like it was a fantastic day!
Yes, having breaks are important. I'm an introvert and everyone else drains my energy so I need alone time to recharge. I get a quick break while Daniel is in school. He's 11 and in the fifth grade. I also get breaks when Lee and him sleepover at a friend's house. I prefer to either read a book, play a video game, journal, or swing kettlebells without interruptions. Daniel pretty much interrupts everything I do when he's awake and at home. He also acts up whenever I'm being productive. He calmly plays his games when I play mine though. As soon as I pick up a pan, paperwork, start cleaning, or pick up a kettlebell he starts up. I woke up around two in the morning and forgot there wasn't any school day due to what they call a Professional Learning Day and then he was driving me crazy whining and not listening to me so Lee took him to the friend's house they normally sleepover at which was great since I could do the laundry in peace. Everything is clean, folded if necessary, and put away. Think I'll continue working in my general notes section of my binder. I have clear memories of events that are tied to strong emotions but everything else is hit or miss so I have to keep extensive notes. For instance I remember clothing my first love Justin wore when we were teenagers but I won't remember what I just looked at or why I walked into a room. Then maybe I'll journal a little. My life is mostly routine and not worth recording so I journal my favorite dreams which I have nearly every night and even during some naps.
I started going to Christkindl because of you. We've gone the last three of four years, it's kind of small and struggled a bit (here in Texas). I do enjoy the Käthe Wohlfahrt booth though. Sounds like you had a great, re-energizing day--- good for you!
I agree, I think my toddlers would not have enjoyed that market. We used to do the Holidazzle in MSP when my daughter was a baby before we relocated but it was way less crowded than that.
You are one of my favorite You Tubers because you are so REAL! I’ve read a nasty website that Trashes You Tubers but yet they don’t miss a single episode! I wonder what God will say to them when they are standing at the pearly gates wanting in! It’s so sad that women can’t support each other! Sorry Jen to put this hear but I know they’ll read it here! Tehehehe❤️Keep being you
I love your vlogs! It's so interesting to see a mother doing things for herself with little thought about how she might make it a family adventure. I always loved to expose my kids to new things, whatever their age. But you are truly devoted to yourself and your needs. I've never seen a mom compartmentalize her life so much. That must take a lot of effort!
Will you do a video soon about your shift with plant-based? I've been following your journey with this closely and I would SO appreciate your current thoughts.
Love these new vlogs that feel like your old school vlogs! So impressed that you went out of your comfort zone and vlogged in such a crowded place :) I was wondering if anyone stops you because they follow Pretty Neat Living?
If you are plant-based, why would you choose egg whites from Starbucks? No shade, just curious. I know you educated about the egg industry so just curious as to whether it's vital for a health reason. You could always get a bagel or two oatmeals if you were extra hungry :)
I wanted to try them, but due to the cheese I will not be ordering again. If you eat cheese, though, they were yummy! I'm mostly but not strictly plant-based these days.
@@WithWonder I can suggest reading up on the egg industry as buying/eating egg products is not only cruel to the conditions chickens are kept in, but it contributes to mass killing of baby chicks (and I know you don't consume chicken for ethical reasons). while eggs themselves don't seem so cruel as it's not eating the animal itself, there are still other consequences. again, not being mean/shady, just some info that many people aren't aware of! hope it helps.
This was so fun, thanks for sharing! Also, the comments here from people trying to guilt you for the eggs is RIDICULOUS. You do you, and please don’t them get to you.
Very much enjoyed coming along on your Mommys Day out.You so needed this. It seems to have helped. I hope so. I am sure your kiddos will love the stacking doll. They are fun.
I'm so happy for you having a day out to do the things you love! Self care is so vital! I wish I indulged more when the kids were little. So important! Looks like you had a fabulous day! Those crowds at the market were insane! Love the nesting dolls! Thanks for sharing the sights of Chicago with us! Merry Christmas!
Great vlog! I love that you are stepping out of your comfort zone when it comes to crowds. I have the same issue, but I try not to let that stop me, lol! You look so happy!
Yea good to see you vlogging, wow that market was so busy, I remember way back when you did a video about the market, and yea your so right go first thing when it opens but good to have a me day, and glad you had a lovely day too xxx
I'm so glad you made a day for yourself in this busy season, and glad that you took us along! I remember the very first time you went to the Christkindlmarket and took the train there. So much fun! If I ever make it to Chicago, that will be one thing I can't miss. Much love! :)
I lived in Michigan for many years. Every year in November or December my girlfriend’s and I would take a bus to do holiday shopping in downtown Chicago 😊
This vlog was a telltale of her current situation. I came back to watch this and all the signs are right there.
Jen cursed lol 😂, I found that way too thrilling. Oh the market is so pretty, way too many ppl though. Glad u had a mommy day out we all need those pamper days.
Ahh! I definitely squealed a little when you said Christkindlmarket! 🥰 I LOVE watching your old vlogs going there!
It always brings back fond memories for me, it was so nice to go back ❤️
A curse...a bloody mary and some roasted taters...my idea of relaxation lol....you go girl...so heartwarming to see your joy :).
What an awesome Mommy's Day Out! It looked like so much fun! Love seeing clips of the Christkindlmarket, thanks for sharing.
Can I just tell you how much I love the fact that Jen just said “Ass” 😂🤣

Strange.
I couldn’t like this enough! Nothing makes me more happy than seeing one of my fave YTers out and about vlogging for the Holidays! 🎄🎅🏻
Glad you took sometime for yourself. It is very important! Thanks for sharing!
This is so Vintage Jen MHWL and I love it!!!!!
Wow, that's a flashback! That was a gorgeous wedding, I remember it well. Thanks for sticking by for all these years!

Blimey, it looked busier than homemade . Lovely vlog, I am a big believer in me time as a mum.
It's good to see you feeling more like yourself and enjoying a solo date :) Thanks for the vlog :)
Jen every year I watch your vlogidays from 2012 to 2013 because it always gets me in the Christmas spirit
Aw, I'm so happy you still enjoy those videos! Throwbacks for sure 🎄
Those were my favorite too❤️❤️
Mama gone wild saying ass and everything 😂😂😂. I have missed your tour of the Kincaid? Christmas festival market. I hope you get to go back when it’s less crowded. Thanks for sharining

Loved that you took the time and energy to vlog this! Miss your Christmas vlogs! ❤️
this day looked like so much fun! I could use a mommy day out like this!
Go for it! You deserve it 💕
1. I love and miss your vlogs so this was great! I remember when you showed the Christkindlmarket years ago in a vlog and I would love to experience Chicago during this time of year :)

This vlog takes me back to your early days. I love your ear warmers. Could you link the brand? I need something like that for walking outside.
They're by Ugg - I've had mine for many years. I'm not sure if they still make them.
Excellent Jen!!! Regards from Mexico!!!

Anything counts if you want it to ;)
Love these new vlogs that feel like your old school vlogs! So impressed that you went out of your comfort zone and vlogged in such a crowded place :) I was wondering if anyone stops you because they follow Pretty Neat Living?
Not often but I always enjoy meeting people

Yay!! My favorite kind of videos!
Love this and that you had a day to yourself but what I’m really impressed with was your ease of vlogging in public! You nailed it! Great job!
Thanks! I took a deep breath and decided not to care about how silly I thought I looked lol
Pretty Neat Living you did not look silly! So proud of you!
Chicago is so pretty! I have to visit during the holidays sometime 😍 Looks like you had a fabulous day to yourself!
This was so fun, thanks for sharing! Also, the comments here from people trying to guilt you for the eggs is RIDICULOUS. You do you, and please don’t them get to you.
So excited to see this! Yay!
The nesting dolls are so cute. I hope we can see your lantern when you have time to construct and share it. Thanks for the great content.
I hope I manage to hang it sometime in the next year lol 😜

Aww love the market! I live near Chicago and we go every year! New ornament and hot cocoa and German pancakes! It’s magical! 🎄 ✨🌟
Nice! 🎄
Great video !! I’m going tomorrow during my lunch break 🙂
Growing up we would take the South Shore train or park at the Hancock building.
ForTheLoveOfGrey you must have been from the south side or Indiana
We always took the South shore as well ! Good memories 💗🎄
Helen Lesczynski Yep! Lived in NW Indiana for most of my childhood. So many great memories!
Had no idea you could pre pay parking! Didn't make it to the market this year but will remember the next time I'm in Chicago!!
Wooty Woot It's A Jen Vlog!!!
What a great day!!!! Wish I were there with you! :)
Enjoyed this so much! Good for you lovely 🥰
Love this !!!! 👏👏👏👏
Wow very fancy. I’m lucky if I have time to take a shower alone.
I'm so glad you made a day for yourself in this busy season, and glad that you took us along! I remember the very first time you went to the Christkindlmarket and took the train there. So much fun! If I ever make it to Chicago, that will be one thing I can't miss. Much love! :)
Thanks for the outing! 👍❤️
I lived in Michigan for many years. Every year in November or December my girlfriend’s and I would take a bus to do holiday shopping in downtown Chicago 😊
