Theories of War: Competing or Complementary

For at least two decades manoeuvre warfare theory has dominated Western military doctrine. In recent years it has suffered criticism, especially observing the attrition-soaked fields of the Russo-Ukraine war. Is a binary distinction between these two theories factual or even worthwhile? Are there more that deserve consideration? What is missing from the debate that would actually help the practitioners of war?
