- It's not easy being a whistleblower; least of all an Israeli soldier who decides to go public about his or her time serving in the Palestinian Territories. "Breaking the Silence" is an Israeli organisation that offers soldiers the opportunity to voice their testimonies. Its co-founder, Yehuda Shaul, talks to Annette Young about how they aim to expose the harsh realities of the Occupation to fellow Israelis.

I write this comment and realised this video was made 10 years ago. Things seem to have gotten so much much worse. I hope more Israelis realise this and call out their inhuman, fascist regime. Palestinians should have the same rights, opportunities as the Israelis and should not be under occupation of their own land.

A very courageous and decent man but it is telling that he said that what he is doing (a noble and extremely important endeavor) he does for Israel and himself; he does not mention the Palestinians...
I'm disappointed that Shaul left out the real details of his tour of duty for the purposes of this interview (though I can't say I blame him), but I'm glad to see a former Israeli soldier step forward like this. From a global perspective, it actually reflects better on the Israeli people.
