is it the same with this one? www.cjponyparts.com/borla-cat-back-exhaust-system-atak-stainless-steel-3-with-4-polished-tips-for-active-exhaust-fastback-gt-2018-2019/p/CBB88/
I run a full Corsa Catless Header with the 3in Corsa Xtreme Active Exhaust and it is stupid loud in track mode but when I put it in quiet mode, is sound as quiet as a stock car. It’s nice having that active system when driving around in town.
CJ Pony Parts comes standard in the GT’s sold here in Australia. Comes in handy to stay friends with the neighbours using Quiet Start until you are out of your street and then of course you change over to Track mode! 😉
Where I live, I have an HOA and cool neighbors that I don’t wanna disturb. Quiet mode is for neighborhoods, normal for once I leave, and sport\track for when I want to play.
You can get a system with out active valves, and just unbolt the oem switches on the mufflers and zip tie them off to the side to trick the car to make it think its still attached lol
I have got the Borla S Type installed on my 2023 Mustang GT s550 with active exhaust. Don't know what is wrong, but the modes are not woking correctly. When I select *Quite* mode, it closses the valve correctly, but when I select *Normal* mode it opens the valve fully wide open like track mode. When I select *Sports* and *Track* I dosent do anything. I can't hear the valve moving at all when I select sport or track mode. I am assuming the motor is all good as it is operating correctly for 2 modes. I also believe that actuator gear that "spring thing" is also engaged on the valve as it is moving the valve for 2 modes. I'm not quite sure if I need to get system calibration done for the actuator to relearn how much valve needs to be opened for each mode. Also, I'm not quite sure if the installer have given the attention for the part in the installation where they need to keep the valve open while installing the actuator motor. Hey Bill any idea what could have gone wrong or what would be the fix?
Yeah i'm hearing ya, but in Australia that cost $3,500. I just brought an X pipe instead, 20 minutes ago. A forgettable $450 : ( Still it will all be forgotten when I install it!
At 5:47 i see the swap over of the active motor, it seems that borla has it facing a different direction, is there gonna be any issues with the spring area being exposed? Stones dirt water etc can get in there?
New stang owner here. I want a borla atak on my 2020 gt with the active exhaust but my car doesn’t have the active exhaust from factory can I still buy and use the active exhaust feature on the borla atak?
Finally, was waiting to see and hear the Borla active, sounds great, very deep and those carbon tips, geez. Bill, your opinion, how does it compare to the active Corsa?, great video btw 👍
@@cjponyparts Is there was to valve the Corsa extreme to that quiet mode option too lol so I can get out and not wake the neighbors? High idle is a ripper! It's on a 2105
Had a shop install borla catback s type with active, when went to pick up it says active exhaust not available, all is plugged in and done the way it shows in video however i do not beleive they disconnected the battery. Could it be just needing a reset from disconnect and wait awhile and connect battery again?
Installed this exact exhaust, and picked up a rattle, but only when the car is in gear and in every exhaust mode, and its very intermittent, any suggestions where to try and track it down?
Thank you. I will have to take it back to the shop and have them try that. They told me they installed with valves open like the instructions say. You mentioned moving around? What exactly do you mean?
Is it really worth buying such an expensive exhaust when you already have the active exhaust ? Maybe just add an x or h pipe and call it a day? Not sure
Does this exhaust make the actuators go bad like the Corsa exhaust systems? I have buddies that run the Corsa and end up messing up their whole active exhaust system.
Does MBRP make a catback system for the active exaust? I love the one I have for my 2018, but I'm upgrading to a PP2 and supercharger..how do these systems sound with a supercharger?
I just got this installed and the valves will not stay open while in track mode, anyone have that issue and how do i fix it? The dash board says track mode is not available
Do you have to have the active exhaust stock for this to work? Or can you buy this for a gt without and active exhaust and it will still go through the modes?
Matt Jones it really is luck of the draw. I have had no tick or fork issues on my car but I still think I am going to get rid of it and move on to something older
Hey Bill, I recently had the Borla ATAK w/ active exhaust installed onto my 2019 Mustang GT. However, after installing and even unplugging and plugging the sensors/motor/battery, the option to use active exhaust became unavailable, It'd come with the message that Exhaust selection is unavailable and the only two modes i can switch between are normal and sport. Track and quiet mode became unavailable... I was wondering if it is an issue with the exhaust or the software
Coyote Chris you pay for the quality. If you want cheap go get a muffler delete at the local shop. Ever seen the welding they do in cheap muffler shops?
Got to love a 60 percent price increase for two cheap butterfly valves that you have to swap your own electronics to. Weird you can buy two cut out valves with motors and controllers for 1/3 to 1/2 half of this systems price increase. And that’s for a quality system. They’ve been gouging the GM NPP cars like this for years now.
Looking to go 2019 PP2 w Supercharger (going in lieu of GT350R, too expensive to enjoy I think for me). I am looking to have a sound comparable with the Grand Tour RTR Mustang, that "Nascar" snap. Thought the Roush is also close. Thoughts? Does the system add any HP? Are there headers (Long or Short, Catted / Uncatted) that fit with the Roush Stage 1 charger? Either way; if installing will require a retune and loss of warranty (so I may wait). Thoughts on what Headers would go best with this setup? Best with the Roush Exhaust system? Cheers for you time (when you can spare to answer). I am sure my business is coming your way in the near future.
I think the Borla would be a great choice for the sound you are looking for. We carry plenty of aftermarket headers from LTH, Coras, and others and all will work with the Roush but will require a custom tune,
The comparison between the modes is kinda half assed. When in quiet mode you’re barely reving the car at all then when you put it in normal you do like a half pull or rev then in track you drive the shit out of the car to make it as loud as possible. Doesn’t really give a true comparison between the modes

This is what I was wondering about. I like the ability to have a quieter car when I have a hangover but want a full exhaust bahaha
Just ordered this for my 2020. Had ataks on my 2015. Looking forward to having the active system. Should be here tomorrow 🙂🙂🙂
The active system is standard here in Aus so great to see a demo on changing the muffler with it
Sounds very similar to my Borla S-Type with X pipe and MAK race pipe with Thunderbolt 300CEL HFC's setup. You can never go wrong with any Borla setup!
Thank you guys, on my 3rd S550 and still come to your DIY installs to double check myself.
13:05 "We don't want that, let's go to Track" says every 2018-2019 Active Exhaust Mustang GT owner from the minute they start the car.....

wonder how this sounds with H pipe and catless kooks headers
Best sounding exhaust for a mustang imo, the corsa extreme has a raspie more tinny sound. The borla Atak is nasty.
Finally, was waiting to see and hear the Borla active, sounds great, very deep and those carbon tips, geez. Bill, your opinion, how does it compare to the active Corsa?, great video btw 👍
Kensei's Garage I prefer the tone of the Borla but it’s very subjective. We sell a lot of the Corsa systems.
@@cjponyparts Thanks
can i make my mustang 18 active because now it whiteout valves and am not having the option in the cluster
Bill since you’ve had both the corsa active and the borla active which would you recommend? I want loud!
Levi Etris They are both pretty loud, I prefer the sound of the Borla. The Corsa is a little higher pitched and maybe a hair louder.
Corsa is probably the loudest you can get

How do you start in sports mode? It always starts in Normal
You can set up "My Mode" but you will still have to change it when you first start it.
Installed this exact exhaust, and picked up a rattle, but only when the car is in gear and in every exhaust mode, and its very intermittent, any suggestions where to try and track it down?
This system works with the digital cluster? Or will there be like an ugly wire and switch that you use inside the car to interact with the exhaust?
I want my 19 Mustang to sound good without being too expensive (thousands) any suggestions?
Hey Bill, comparing volume wise only, which is louder between this Borla ATAK and the Corsa Extreme?
Jonathan Le we get this all the time. The Corsa has a higher pitch to it and is probably a hair louder.
Could I use this exhaust with a roush H pipe instead of the included x pipe?
Possibly, youd just need to cut and weld it.

Does this exhaust make the actuators go bad like the Corsa exhaust systems? I have buddies that run the Corsa and end up messing up their whole active exhaust system.
So how would you say this system differs from S-Type with active? Is it just volume or is the tone different? Thanks.
StangDadGT Atak and Stype sound similar, I have had both on my 2018 GT. Main difference is volume.

Does MBRP make a catback system for the active exaust? I love the one I have for my 2018, but I'm upgrading to a PP2 and supercharger..how do these systems sound with a supercharger?
Currently they do not make anything active, just passive. They sound pretty much the same with the supercharger, just a hair louder.

What’s the black box in between rear muffler ?
Does this system sounds any different than the corsa active exhaust?
Luis Alfonso yes the Borla has a different tone than Corsa, not as high pitched.
I need to get together with chris to do side by side comparisons of each mode corsa to borla
