I loved this declutter so much more than the usual massive one from other beauty content creators. It's much more realistic. I also love your content. Thank you❤❤

There’s definitely a theme here - face palettes! Really interesting to see how you decluttered both, but for different reasons. Great to see your thought process about what you actually use and each product needing to earn its place in your collection. 🎉

Great declutter , I love hearing your thought process of why you don’t need to keep a product and of course I love to see the swatches ❤

I recently did a big declutter of my makeup collection. I just learned that I'm actually warm toned after thinking I was cool my entire life, so I've taken out most of the cool toned colours. I am trying to reuse them as art supplies though.

A point to consider about the belgian waffle palette - the different shades span across so much range, I do not think there is a single person who will be able to use all shades. So in my mind, it kind of actually makes more sense, if you depot the shades you like and use them up, and pass on the other shades to a friend with a deeper complexion! I split a palette in this way with a friend yonks ago - light shades were too icy on her, the deep shades were too deep on me, so we split it halfway! Just some food for thought, since you use that palette a lot and seem you enjoy it plenty, that can be a way to still get to eat your cake and have it too.

I bought that Pixi highlighter duo after over a year of huming and hawing. In the end I just said "f it, I need to know" 😂 Both shades definitely fill a gap in my (tiny) collection and it LITERALLY has my name on it (Petra)!

you’ve inspired me to declutter my collection too! i’m moving off to college in the fall and have way too much makeup i don’t even use. there’s no way i’ll have room for all of it when i move so i’m trying to really pair my collection down and give a lot of my stuff to my sister haha

paigejohnson9201 *When Decluttering:* Please consider the following to reduce one-time use/waste: I donate new and gently used skincare and cosmetic items & household items to a Women's Victim's Shelter and LGBTQ organizations who are thrilled to receive such things as you are decluttering many can be sanitized. Every local shelter and organization has different policies, just call to inquire. A few places near me happily accept them. I feel there are not enough beauty influencers passing products along to those in need or talking about this concept of helping those in your community or donating them to organizations that will. Thousands of people subscribe to Ipsy, BoxyCharm, FabFitFun and end up with unwanted/unused, swatched once products.
Organizations like *Project Beauty Share* will gladly sterilize and donate used cosmetics and skin care to women and families who need help to have been displaced, have escaped violent situations, are experiencing poverty, or other barriers in life that have a direct impact on their well-being, hope, and dignity.
Creams can last far longer than the printed "expiration" date which is only a guide and a way to perpetuate you spending money again. You can revive them with Inglot Duraline
Give them away to friends, family, in order to re-home them to give perfectly usable product a fighting chance before ending up in a landfill. You can give them away via Nextdoor, Craigslist, Facebook Marketplace, Depop, Glou Beauty, OfferUp, etc, all are perfectly acceptable. People like me would happily come pick them up!
Mascara Wands: *Wands for Wildlife* is in need of used mascara wands help save wild animals. The organization collects, cleans, and distributes the wands to wildlife services in need. The wands are then used for animal care. They remove debris, bugs, and eggs from fur.
Please consider inquiring with your local women's shelters and look up the above, use your voice to spread awareness. At the very least, they can be used as pigments because that's what makeup is: for artists, kids, etc. It's a medium of color to be used, not to end up in a landfill. You could even compost it when removed from the packaging.
Example: Powdered formulas last indefinitely. So long as it doesn't smell and the product is performing, it's good to use. They can be sanitized with a spray of 70% alcohol or UV light. Those dates sometimes relate to break down but more often they relate to getting rid of perfectly usable product so you feel like you need to purchase again. It's how the industry ensures profit. It depends on the product. Use common sense. For those who want to live by what manufacturers tell you, there is also a container icon with an M and a number, which means once you open it, the guide is to use the product within for example 12M (12 months). Add a sticker to when you open it. Pencils can be sharpened to unused, clean product, etc.
Pump bottles can be re-used for other things. Stickers can be removed from glass bottles and these containers can be re-used.
Some thrift stores, churches, and organizations gladly accept gently used cosmetics and skincare and people like me can find some amazing products this way
If the product is new enough or untouched enough, you can even make money on selling it via Poshmark, Glambot, Ebay, Mercari, Reddit MakeupExchange, YouFromMe, etc. (Content creators are often obligated to not resell however.) Plenty of people are always looking for discontinued and current products.
Nordstrom's project "BEAUTYCYCLE" accepts the following:
HAIR CARE: Empty bottles, tubes and caps from shampoo, conditioner and styling products
SKIN CARE: Empty bottles, tubes and dispensers from cleansers, toners and moisturizers
MAKEUP: Empty tubes, tubs, pans, palettes and twist-up containers from all cosmetics
SAMPLES: Trial-size tubes and vials, excluding perfume
It would be wonderful to see a trend of every content creator each making a dedicated video and short to educate the public on these options.
There is an excellent video on using what you have titled "Stop buying make-up! | Project Pan update!" with Charlotte Rebecca. @HannahLouisePoston is also extremely thoughtful about what to keep, buy, and not give in to.
Lastly there is the “Pact Collective”. Visit their website to find drop-off bin locations like *ULTA, Caliray, Saie, Westman Atelier, Fenty, rms beauty, Sephora, and so many more*. Many cosmetic companies are part of this group to help you find a collection bin to discard Pact-accepted empties. Don’t have access to a bin? Send your empties back through their mail-back program.
      Please spread the word!
You can revive drying cream products with Inglot Duraline. Just one drop overnight will bring it back to life.

I have one of those ciate London blushes and you're right, it's so gloss like. It's an odd formula. I can see it working on super young skin that rarely wears much base. Hair gets stuck & that is not my journey! Lol

Great job on the declutter! I definitely think you made the right choice to get rid of your face palettes. If you have to make an effort to reach for a product than it’s a sign to declutter it. I did the same years ago and never bought a face palette again because I just don’t use them.
