This recipe was a winner!! Followed it to the letter. The only thing I changed was baking it for the recommended time and then reducing the heat to 320 and baking for an additional 25-30 minutes. It was. PERFECT!!!!!!!!

What is ghee? Can anything else be used instead of it? Can't wait to try this recipe!
It is clarified butter. When butter is melted down, the milk solids are skimmed off the surface. It has a smoke point that is a lot higher than butter. You can use butter but it will brown a lot more than the ghee.

I always use cashews because they are my fave but it will work with any combination of your favourite nuts.
It is great with walnats or almonds. Or even combination of them. It is a very nice sweet
As a Turkish,I would recommend pistachios and walnuts. They taste great.

I am sad to heat that it's expensive on your country. It is a very tricky and difficult pastry to make. It is readily available in Australia which is why I buy it instead of making it. It is not a pastry that I make.

Yes, you can use unsalted butter. It may brown a lot more because Ghee has a higher smoke point, so keep an eye on it.

Le ghee est fabriqué à partir de beurre. Le beurre est fondu et les solides du lait qui vont vers le haut sont enlevés. Il peut être utilisé avec une chaleur plus élevée que le beurre.

Şerbet kıvamı çok koyu değil mi ağdalaşmış iyice. Tadı ağır olur. Su ve şeker miktarını aynı tutup göz göz olana kadar kaynatırsanız kıvam daha iyi olur diye düşünüyorum. 🇹🇷

Normal koydu şekeri de suyunu da.Bire bir ölçü koydu,yani 2 bardak sekere 2 bardak su koydu ve evlerde,köylerde genellikle bire bir ölçü ile yapılır...Eğer Su ölçüsü şeker ölçüsünden fazla olursa yaptıgınız şey baklava değil, tatlı bir börek olur 😉Ama gerçek,asıl,hakiki,geleneksel bir baklava,yani Güllüoğlu'nun baklavasi gibi bir bsklava yapmak,yemek isterseniz,Şeker ölçüsü her zaman su ölçüsününu 2 katıdır,ya da başka bir deyişle su ölçüsü şeker ölçüsünün yarısıdır; yani şerbet ağdalıdır,reçele yakındır,şerbet asla baklavadan damlamaz.
Bir bardak şekere yarım bardak su koyulur.Yani ölçüyü arttırdık diyelim: mesela 4 bardak şekere 2 bardak su,veya 5 bardak şeker 2.5 bardak su konması gerekir.Gerçek geleneksel Türk baklavası şerbeti böyle hazırlanıre.Diğer bir püf noktası: baklava da şerbet de sıcak olmalıdır ,sade yağ kullanılmalıdır. I have to say I like the honey version better. Not a fan of syrups. Each to its own.
Real Turkish baklava is made with the syrup,I cant call the other versions baklava,they will be some sort of sweet but not Baklava. Traditional real Baklava will be eaten in Turkey.
