“I’m Sorry, Age Don’t Make You Grown” is a film based on one of Clark’s childhood experiences. Clark grew up in sometimes less than ideal circumstances that became abnormally normal. This narrative unpacks an experience that is deeper than it seems on the surface.
The film circulates a night in the life of “Ed” and his uncle “Jamal”. “Ed”, a young high school freshman who recently made the basketball team and has the entire world ahead of him, sits in the safety of his mother's inner city apartment and completes his nightly studies. All the while, “Jamal”, a 19 year old who once was a star high school athlete himself, has fallen into the world of hustling to provide for himself and his family. On this night, “Jamal” has to make a run and tasks “Ed” with completing a few sales. “Ed” reluctantly accepts and what lies ahead is an experience that displaces him from his child-like innocence.
