THis is something people always get wrong : soldiers, especially elite soldiers, do have fear. They have as much fear as anybody else. But fear is a survivial mechanism, and whern you learn to use it and channel it it is a great ally that helps you instead of crippling you. Soldiers are capable of allmost inhuman feats not because they have no fear, or despite fear, they achieve them because the immense fear can lead to extra strength and focus if used correctly. One example is the constant repetition you get in every kind of training. The reason you do that is so that you don´t have to focus on what to do and can`t freeze up (typical fear response). You do what needs to be done on autopilot, then you can take a step back inside and focus on the bigger picture while the adrenaline from the fear gives you extra power and energy. Another thing you learn in training is that most of the time it is more important and helpful to make any decision even if it is not the best decision then to stop doing stuff and try to find the best solution. Heck often a wrong decision can beat a right decision 30 seconds too late. 30 second in a firefight is ages.
nothing new here, the same old invading empire underestimating earth, never learning their lesson. I've heard this same basic A.I. story at least a dozen times across various sci-fi narrated channels. So disappointing. But that is A.I. for you, either that or every real author is just plagiarizing every other one with wild abandoned, missing what is most important: imagination and originality.
