    My gut tells me ,just based on this trailer alone, that they're going to play up the 'girl power' element here, and not in a Biblically accurate way, but in a modern 21st century way.

    The trailer looks like Mary running away from an evil king and meeting the seven dwarves in a remote town and then finding his prince.

  • @erinbaehr7889
    @erinbaehr7889 День назад +4

    In the trailer when the angel tells Mary that she will have a son, she says, “This is not possible.” This indicates doubt. However, in Luke 1:34, she actually says, “How can this be?” She didn’t doubt that God could do it, she just didn’t know HOW God could do it. It’s a subtle but important difference. Read the Word and keep your eyes on Jesus!

    You can tell from the trailer that there are lots of scenes that are not biblical and only based on speculation of what "may have happened." It is very difficult to make an entire movie just about Mary based on the Bible because the Bible actually has very few references to her.
    By the way, "Love will save the world" is a very New Age thing to say.

    Mary was blessed by God among women, but she is not a Queen to be worshipped.
    In Luke 1:28, Mary is called “favored one” (literally, “endowed or filled with grace”) but only in the sense that God, by grace, chose her to be the human mother who would give birth to the Christ child. This same idea and word is used of all believers in Ephesians 1:6. We have all been endowed with grace. To say any more than this is to add to what the text of Scripture says.

    Looking forward to seeing how they portray Mary. Will they present her as the mother of Yahweh, or, be more biblical and present her as the mother of the human messiah/son of Yahweh?
    If you read the birth narrative in Luke it's fascinating how Luke doesn't mention incarnation at all. That theology has to be brought to and read into the text. But for Luke to claim to be passing on a trustworthy account (1:1-4) to Theophilus but leave out the fact that the agent of the genesis creation entered Mary's womb from the outside is unfathomable because that is a fantastic piece of the story. Would not as storyteller (in an oral culture) mention such a thing in his more formal account if that indeed was the narrative he'd heard and that had been circulating?
    If Luke believed incarnation then he certainly wouldn't then mislead Theophilus by writing something rather different--that the reason the child will be called the son of God is because of The Most High's (Yahweh's) supernatural begetting of him in Mary's womb (1:35). There's nothing there about Jesus being a preexistent spirit-son who is the alleged second person a a tripersonal God who somehow transformed into a baby. There's the straightforward story of Yahweh's power over her miraculously creating her son Jesus.
    If Luke believed the incarnation story then what he does say is so incomplete that it amounts to a lie because he's claiming to be presenting a reliable (and more complete) account of what all happened. Luke's story is what we should trust. But it cannot possibly be reconciled with the mythic story of a preexistent being of some sort coming into her from the outside. Luke's narrative cannot be reconciled with the later ideas that Mary changed God's (Yahweh's) diaper. That Yahweh-passes-through-a-vagina story would've been blasphemous to both Luke and his audience.
    It's time to drop the myths and get back to apostolic tradition.

    As a former Catholic who Jesus saved out of that false gospel, everything about this movie creeps me out and makes me feel so convicted. Also, why does Gabriel look more like a demon than an angel? That makes it seem like part of the message in this movie plays into the atheistic trope that is that God/Jesus is evil. But then again, this flick is straight up pagan. So much false doctrine to choose from -- yikes! Remember Galatians 1, brothers and sisters! A lot of Catholics are big on Mary,
    A lot of them are in error though they pray to her and ask her to pray for them Mary doesn't hear their prayers she's in the grave; Mary shouldn't be worshiped she needed GOD.
    Catholics will put idols all over there house of Mary That's leading to Idolatry,

    Mark Driscoll for real? The trailer alone should alarm the Holy Spirit in you! It implies Mary's parent's "promise" (which is not Biblical) has something to do with the Messiah being born to her? Adding a bunch of weird stuff like Herod seeing visions of the crucifixion - or that he saw or met Mary at all. Then glorifying Mary about being "far more powerful than words"... leading to imply something that is entirely not found in scripture. Some modern fem perspectives about having an issue with marrying Joseph. The angel Gabriel depicted as some creepy cloaked shadow figure. Everything about the trailer alone screams perversion and distortion and deception. Mark, Netflix is not "getting interested" in Biblical themes as you seem to say here. No, they are deliberately making Biblical themed movies targeted at Christians in order to misrepresent core truths. It's a deception scheme. And the target audience here is Catholics. So they venerate and center-stage Mary while all the while perverting and warping the central themes and truths of the gospel in the process.

It is the word of God that came to correct the falsehood that was added to the original Torah and Gospels. The biblical narrative doesn’t even make sense and there is no historical evidence to prove it. Even your own scholars admit this.
