Thank you bro. Saved us from spending the night with a half open bunk slide.
I would mark the 2 chains on the gear before removing them so they can be the same after replacing the gearbox.
That’s probably not a bad idea.
Thank you very much, clear concise explanation.
About to do this when I get to my trailer (5 hours away) what size nut is on the cable adjuster. Just want to make sure I have the correct tools. This video will hopefully make it smooth sailing. Thanks! @hilbillyrv
It has been a long time since I done one of these. I think 3/8, 7/16 and 1/2 maybe.
In your opinion is a stock motor replace better than upgrade to a high torque motor ?
I always do the high torque. It’s only a few dollars more.
so from 2-1/2 hrs of experience i can attest you will drive yourself crazy trying to get those cables/chains evenly tight in both in and out! i did it today and wish i would've seen this video yesterday!
Ha ha. I wish you had seen it yesterday too.
Nice job the white foam is to keep the adjustments from hitting each other and Bal accu slide is self centered, do you happen to have a motor change only video?
Nope. I always do motor and gearbox.
Ok thanks @@hillbillyrv
You made that look easy.
It is easy.
Nice job and thanks for posting this! I watched this and a couple of others and tackled the job with my wife and it went pretty well! I made the mistake and took the bolt all the way out of the carrier which made taking the chain off super easy! However, getting it back on was another matter. When I went to put the chain back on the new gear box, and I lined it up with the marks I made on the chain before disassembling it\- the chain was too short! So I had to adjust the cables and chain to get it back together. But the initial consequence was the slide would not open all the way or close all the way. so we spent a good 90 minutes adjusting the chain and cables until we got it dialed-in. Next time I'll be more aware not to take the bolt all the way off and do it like you did! But i the end, your posting gave us the confidence we needed to do it! Thanks!
Awesome Andrew
Wish mine was like that one and not the Lippert system I have.
Every slide system has its pros and cons.
@@hillbillyrv wish the Lippert system didn't use a plastic gear drive box
Nice Job Kenny, I always Like to Write a Date on the Parts I replace, Warranty/ Records Etc.. 👍
That would be a good idea. I keep track of things like that for my own stuff.
I kind of like this type of slide over the Lipitor with them motors tuck away. 👍🤪
I agree the anti vibration blocks are garbage
Totally
Great information as always Kenny 👍🇨🇦✌️
Thank you for sharing this informative video on the replacement procedure. (I hope that I never have to use it in my trailer but I will be well prepared if I do ;-)
Glad it was helpful!
very good job ,,,your explanation had just plain common sense, and thats what people need,,,thanks a lot👍🏻
You are welcome.
Nice job I have a question can you change the gear box with the slide out about 3/4 of the way out cause I don't have an removible panel and really don't want to take all the top trim off thank
If your slide is made so you can get to the gearbox while the room is in that position, go for it.
got a little chuckle: customer asks how soon to get a new motor; 3-4 days. Two weeks later, the installation video continues....
He had some personal stuff come up. I got the parts in 3 days, but then he wasn't available for a couple of weeks. Life happens.
Great video and especially the tip about holding the cables on the pulleys with the bungee cords. Thanks for sharing.
You are welcome BW
Love the simple way you did that. I’ve been making it a bit more complicated. Looks to be much faster than I have done in the past. Great Job!
It's not a bad job.
looking good mine as hydric pistons boy they can leek on lines LOL
They can for sure.
Hey, awesome, I have a question. I have a bedroom slide out, and a living room slide out, but I have no power to either, help me please thanks
Like Darren says. You have to follow the flow of electricity. You start following it and you will figure out where it stops.
Great job, not only are you great RV tech, not a bad carpenter too. Thanks Don
Thanks Don. You should have the stickers next week.
@@hillbillyrv THANK YOU
did you have to put a jack under the slide before removing the chains?
No
Great video! Thanks for the bungee cord tip.
You are welcome.
Thank you for your help
You are welcome.
Does the slide out not need to be supported?
No
Very nice Kenny good job 👏
Thanks Corey
Great video
Thanks
THanks! Great help!
You are welcome
Nice job, you make it look easy
That is a pretty easy job, when you do it right.
Would you say it is the gearbox if it goes out no problem but won't come in unless I push.
Probably
@@hillbillyrv also, do you have to put anything to support the slide when changing the gearbox out.
No need.@@donstuck-v4w
@@hillbillyrv thank you for your help.
