Benko is arguably not sound at candidates level, but it's still very playable in these shorter time controls. Kasparov even used it with success in classical up to the 90s. Probably a good weapon even for strong club players.

  • @luka3568

The solution to chess is VERY simple. The Benko Gambit is a forced draw for Black, and every opening can transpose into a Benko Gambit, or another forced draw, with a total of maybe 235 opening variations to be memorized, and once memorized, Black *never* loses. Chess is now solved. Don't believe me? I have analyzed the game with Pal Benko himself, and can confirm that the Benko approach would fry Magnus Carlsen's brain. How do you win a match against me if you never win with White? Do you really think +1.25 advantage is enough? It's not.

Funny how he is so tired he can hardly put a sentence to together, but he still plays great chess.... maybe some of these great chess players are kind of like rainman, they can do one thing spectacularly well but in other things they are not so good, all the brain cells are devoted to the one skill, IDK, it's a possibility.
