When my lover of 8 years passed away shockingly and suddenly at the beginning of 2020, I didn’t think I would ever survive the pain. It quite literally, and I ‘saw’ it energetically, come towards me...rolling and becoming larger...entering my body and rising up through the body and out of the mouth in what I can only describe as the most hideous guttural sounds. Over and over it released itself through me.
Days upon days followed of agonising pain, dread and a continuous river of tears. Gradually after a few months the pain subsided leaving dread and the daily tears. Then the dread dissipated and I had the tears. 18 months later the tears began to subside until now 2years 4months later and what I have today is the endless love that we shared through those 8 beautiful years. We ‘speak’ often and he gives me signs on a daily basis that he remains close to me. It was the most expanding experience of my life and though I would dearly love him to still be here...I am content and at peace with myself on so many levels. I truly am so very blessed 💜💜💜

I had the same experience. I’ve been a long time seeker and last April suffered a devastating loss of my fiancé…my despair was going to kill me. Rather than just off myself I decided to look for someone to explain how I could use this grief as fuel. (They all say many awakenings happen at our lowest points) Singer was the one who made it clear, simple, possible. His book “living untethered” changed me and my life. I’m still grieving but the gratitude is winning.

    Great podcast!
Michael’s continuous return to the blocked emotions theme is the key. To my mind, he’s telling us to stop DENYING what we’re feeling, to let it in, embrace it, experience the feelings, then to relax and let them go. We might even thank them, because they truly can heal and help us become kinder, saner, happier.
I’m reminded of lines from a poem by Mary Oliver:
“A house built on denial has thick walls and very small windows. And the heart that lives there, little by little, will turn to stone.”
Let us allow our hearts to soften by allowing ourselves to feel whatever we feel. To tear down the walls, open wide the windows; respect and honor the great wisdom of our brilliant emotions.
    ♥️💖♥️

"I realized I WAS the wound. I AM the wound. The thing that TALKS is the wound"
This is what resonated most for me in this podcast because, I experience "us humans" as both seperate beings (bodies...egos...etc) AND Source...and that there's no getting around this. Acceptance is key, because to deny our physically seperate bodies, egos, etc, is to run from what actually "is". Accepting that this is an inescapeable fact of being human is actually a very crucial point where, if we don't accept it.....If we attempt to bypass it by denying it and attempting to put all of our eggs in the "Source" basket in order to feel better, we will MISS the whole point of being alive in a human body, and get continually knocked back, again and again until we get the lesson. We are BOTH...and there is no shame in this....only opportunities to gradually ...through a lifetime, or lifetimes...integrate them.

And embrace it. Now I find myself there need be a coherence between the two to make the play a real play. Thanks for articulating this out

I can understand how this can not be the liberation for many people with really deep traumas. I don't know if I'd recommend it because I think that this kind of mindset, content or however we can call it, has to come to your hands in the right moment. Not because you're looking for the magic key for happines. Comes at the time you decide you want to take a look to your inside no matter what awaits for you there, you get commited to interact and take action on your own shit, as hard as it sounds. After reading his book "the untetherd soul", suddenly something 'clicked' inside of me. It was like changing the whole operative system of my mind and I started to be aware of inner and outer things that I usually wasn't. Even though my past was not heavely traumatic, there were many deep situations that marked my life and were stoping me in one way or another and I could finally face and release them with the awareness the book gave me.
I feel how my energy is blasting again, honestly. The way I approach life is different. And I feel that I got better as a human under my own personal definition of what that means. Thank you, Michael and Russell.

Some schools do incorporate similar ideas and social emotional learning, watching the breath, awareness and healthy ways to process emotions for children, tenets of yoga and mind body connections…look for a school that touts and delivers on a robust SEL program. Many public and non denominational schools are now incorporating these ideas( at least in LA and big cities). So important to teach children to process the inescapable trauma and human experiences they will encounter in healthy ways without or before offering more conditioning/ judgement that comes with many organized religious schooling. Mindful and mentally healthy children will naturally be curious seekers ,more critical thinkers and will seek wisdom , awareness and spirituality on their own and of their own will when ready for it as a tool for growth rather than being limited, stifled or made to fear life by being conditioned in any one doctrine before they are ready. They do not need to be filled with more layers to cover their intrinsic and intuitive energy and wisdom. Speaking as a former catholic who has reconnected to spirituality and the universal truths of all religions as an adult after processing the trauma experienced trying to live a life Free from sin, full of self doubt , self loathing , fear and judgement which was ,in my opinion perpetuated by my catholic schooling. I understand others have a comforting experience but for me the religious doctrines exacerbated my inability to process and let go of my traumatic childhood experiences. So happy I listened to this and I found Michael’s book before I heard this. And yes I hope some of his ideas end up in our schools!!!

Scott Kiloby, specifically addresses the question Russell asked, about how to address a sensation attached to a thought or memory. His method is using a process of Inquiry. A memory attached to a sensation in the body is more challenging to work with when connected that way. Scott's method separates them and brings Awareness to them individually. It is a "tool box" and wonderful supplement to Michael Singer's work.

  • @georginabastien49
    @georginabastien49 2 года назад +11

Ok, here I go adding my 2 cents worth. 1st of all, I could sense Russell's sadness when he spoke of his mom's illness(es). When a parent is ill the child(ren) do not get the full love, attention, affection and nurturing we all need to thrive. As well, there is a fear that the parent could die and leave us. Many of these thoughts and fears we have as children - lay in our subconscious mind. We tuck them away there, as we have no cognitive means to deal with them at that time. UNLESS, the other parent is highly conscious and aware, and talks to the child(ren) and explains things and asks the child(ren) to express how they feel at the time. And check in with them time to time to see and hear how they (children) are doing. In almost ALL cases, I would say most children do not have a parent that is that conscious and aware. And it is my belief that this is where (subconscious mind) those thoughts and feelings lay and fester. And then something happens, as in this case with Russell, his mother's illness, triggers the past unresolved memories. Those of us on our 'healing journey' might 'be aware of the activation of feelings and emotions.' Then we can ask ourselves who is it that is getting activated? For example: Is it my toddler self, my 10 year old self, my adolescent self or my adult self and then try to search for when we felt like that in the past. I believe the key is to feeling the feelings ... be the observer of those feelings as they are felt ... it might be too much for some ... but perhaps not for others ... to allow the catharsis of feelings. Us humans are very complex. The biological processes that are happening every given second - and especially when triggered - attest to our need to heal so that we can thrive. Some people are not even yet aware of why they are reactive or that they are reactive ... and it is usually a trigger to something that happened in our past that is not resolved! Even though we did not ask for these experiences (unless you believe in reincarnation and that the many lives lived are for experiences for us to grow from - to transcend), it is our responsibility to heal from them - if we want to grow and thrive. We can't blame others; it just doesn't help us. Forgiveness doesn't let the other person off the hook it frees us from the hurt and pain inflicted upon us. I truly have experienced the power of forgiving ... it is like being released from being chained up. We ALL have had some form of dysfunction/hurt/pain/trauma/etc in our life. No one escapes this! The bottom line is every time we are triggered and feeling: jealousy, shame, guilt, pain, hurt, embarrassed, fear, you name it - we need to determine - when was the 1st time or when were all the other times I felt this. And it goes without saying, none of us wants to feel this lower vibrating emotions. We want to feel good, joy, happy etc ... so that is why we need to heal from these circumstances that have caused us so much unease. There are so many great YT channels and books, I don't even know where to begin. Google is a decent tool to search to find information on what one is looking to heal from. Wishing Everyone all the best on their healing journey. Peace.

Christ called it the Kingdom within, the peace the passeth all understanding. Eckhart calles it the spiritual dimension within. Be aware of the within, unconditional nature of the peace, love and joy already within. Liberate yourself by removing the stored pain or clinging to past experiences. Wonderful book .

Resistance to what is, breeds more resistance to what is, it is a circle of pain over time. It can be broken, it is called awakening. The over all process is simply this, your persona is fake, you made it up as you went along life, mostly from other people's ideas about how life should be, and who you should be. They are not even your own ideas about how you should live life. You believe in a you, that is entirely fake, most would die to keep this ego driven fake persona going, and do. Rip that old house built by others down, and build your own house after you have a good clear space to build in. This is not an easy process and is often very painful, but it is the start of moving past this place, until you can become yourself, you are trapped here, life after life waiting to become who you really are, not who others make you up to be. You cannot be free being a persona built by others, even if they had the best intentions they made many mistakes and most of us took those mistakes in as "us." Think about it, who are you other than what you have taken from the earth as food and drink, and the ideas OTHER people have planted? You watered those seeds into a persona.

Core message: free up your mind.
What is memory? We get stuck in ego attachments. The message here is: Let go of distorted memories which are a source of pain for you. Let them go. Just allow that dead weight to fall away. Feel the burden lifted and the air under you wings. This is the grace of God, to be redeemed, to be forgiven, to be set free.
We all need that. We need to get unstuck. Why? Because we all have memories that define our life (or so we think). Actually, it would be more correct to say 'we all have memories that we've chosen to define our life.' We can choose again. We can feel the pain that is always been there, and with acceptance it fades away and turns into joy, peace, and happiness.
The answer was never to resist or to ignore. That only brings more pain and leads to death. Seeing this, step back from those memories, and forgive them. Only when we forgive the egregore does it dissolve into the ether, only then can we turn away and move forward with liberty, with a heart as "light" as a feather.
You are not you memory. The body is just a memory. It was the person you believed yourself to be. The Eternal Being within ever individual has liberty from the body at death. We call it the spirit (or the soul). It is really your Eternal Being, it is who you are. The real you, not your ego story that you body/brain is telling itself. You are more that that.
We choose life, when we forgive. So then, to see pain/memory as a forgiveness opportunity is to choose life. We bring a better world into being when we choose life.
    ...

I like forgiveness as a tool to overcome hate and anger, I also like addressing the part of yourself that's holding on to trauma and showing them the love and gratitude I hold for them for having protected me for so long and tell them they don't need to hold on anymore. Shower them with more love and tell them good bye. This gives me that walking on air feeling of lightness.
After releasing trauma it feels great to shake it off, physically get up and shake your body. This also has helped me peel back the layers and access the deeper source of a constriction.

    SUFFERING
All suffering occurs in the mind. When an undesirable situation occurs and we think that it makes us sad or angry. In reality, what happens is that a situation occurs and we react to it with sadness or anger. It is an unconscious reaction based on habits we've developed. These unwelcome situations usually occur in childhood - when our immature brain is not capable of understanding. As an adult, we can apply reasoning as to why we are reactive. For example: if a person says something that we find upsetting, we can take a few moments to ponder “is this person intentionally trying to upset me” or “am I reacting to this because I feel hurt, mad, sad, etc." Then we can take it a step further to write down any and all other times that we felt this way. Yes, some people are cruel and say mean things, but we do have a choice to not react. Usually that person is hurting or in emotional pain and is lashing out. Being mean and cruel is a learned behaviour. So we can ask: “What happened to this person that makes them act this way. It must have been something very tragic for them to treat others with unkindness."
We can turn our reactions into positive conscious action when we bring conscious awareness to our reactions, we can learn to respond with intention and wisdom. In other words, retaliating will only make things worse. When we realize our unconscious reactions are the cause of all our suffering, we can finally stop our suffering from the root cause of all suffering - our mind.
Molecules of Emotion: The Science Behind Mind-Body Medicine
by Candace B. Pert Ph.D. is a great book to fully understand the actual physiology of how our emotions work.
Another great book about emotions is 90 Seconds to a Life You Love: How to Master Your Difficult Feelings to Cultivate Lasting Confidence, Resilience, and Authenticity by Joan I. Rosenberg Ph.D.
She gives practical, easy to apply and profound techniques to shift into confidence, authenticity, and a way to be more peaceful in our lives by embracing our uncomfortable emotions, and the science to back it up.

Perhaps when you're a superstar like Russell it's hard to relax and be present because the need to be ON all the time is the thing that makes one a superstar. 🤔❓ It's much easier to give up your ego and become nothing and nobody..."No self"...when you already are an insignificant ego. 💭 It's about to live the consciousness in everyones unique shape and form of body, toughts and feelings as the (human) unit you are, given to you by nature. To live it, aka YOUrself authentically. Otherwise YOU are not really alive. Then you will always be connected to the consciousness (your & everyones), soul which connects us and everything (because we all share the same consciousness/soul). Which is the core/essence and the sum of everything, the infinite energy (love is the infinite energy, the deepest level of intelligence) you are a part of in this your unique shape in this life. When you die your energy goes back to the source and will become (a part of) another shape of this consciousness/energy. The consciousness/energy/love wants to live authentic diversity. Pain, suffering, illness (no matter if you're experiencing or causing it) is a warn signal by nature that something is not going right. Also real love (a felt connection between authentic beings) never gets boring, dull or less, the opposite it gets deeper, more interesting, better the more you open up to each other. It's how you know it's real love, but if you experience it you just know it, because you feel it. Every connection between authentic beings is love, even if you don't fit as personalities you will feel love and beauty at that moment. Fitting personalities recognize each other by an even deeper or the deepest feeling of connection/love/understanding on both sides. It's like the consciousness of both is melting together to one and to everything that exists. You 'become' love. And you're not going 'higher' to your (and everyones) consciousness but 'deeper'! To the core, to the essence of your being. And it's not extasy (that's too hysterical for a basic feeling), it's strenght, tenderness, responsibility, passion, deep understanding, happyness (aka love). In your authenticity (to te core) you're a vessel for the consciousness and you will be filled & connected with it and really BE alive. Otherwise you won't. If you cut off your authenticity, you cut off your connection and flow to the/your consciousness/soul. It can not connect and flow through you because you're not fully alive because you are not really you. A 'dark' aura means that there is a lack of energy/warmth. A bright/loving aura means you are full of energy within your whole (authentic) vessel that is 'you' (in this life and shape)❣️💋That's my experience.

I can’t live this level of detachment. To some degree.. but should we also just not get upset about injustice in the world? Say it doesn’t matter, we’re causing ourselves pain internally by caring and best to not care, be non attached to the point of becoming sociopaths ourselves? People like Byron Katie get on my last nerve. It sounds like justifying emotional detachment because caring gets us too riled up internally so let’s tell ourselves nothing actually means anything because we will have inner peace that way. That isn’t inner peace, it’s spiritual bypassing. Deluding oneself that nothing matters because it takes away from MY ( narcissistic) need for inner peace is called spiritual bypassing. I say get riled it it changes things. Don’t accept bullshite. Make boundaries and feel your feelings, being HUMAN is what ultimately helps us ascend. Not pretending we’re above reality because we’re emotionally detached from being moved by it.

Ok, so I believe Michael didn't go too deep in this podcast but what he does is mention this concept that there's levels to the mind and the surface is the reactionary. And the point is that you have a deeper part of the mind that can be aware of the reaction and to cultivate noticing the reactionary by training it on the things which are 100% out of your reach of control. I don't know what one is supposed to do with feelings of compassion and empathy for others having obtained this ability. Similar to what's said about trauma in this podcast I believe it to be of use to sit and be absorbed by your reaction to something in a exploratory sense that you can find a deeper cause to where your reaction bubbled up from.
I see how practicing this could seem like nipping every instance in the bud and remaining like a still pond within, but I believe this is not prescribed as the default reaction to every instance in life. Just a way of building the awareness of your reactionary state. So I think you're extrapolating beyond the practice when relating it to 'injustice in the world'.
I suppose owning this in a broader way would mean that you choose to interact with things the resonate with you in a deeper way.

I really don’t see how mindfulness should be equated to ‘spiritual bypassing’ or narcissism. I’ve never gotten that message from Michael Singer’s interviews. He’s suggesting we gain emotional maturity, perspective. We can become more conscious and in control of our kneejerk emotional reactivity.
Nowhere does he urge people to stop caring about important things. He even clarified that at one point. This is all about dealing with consciousness to be a better/more awake human.

I do not get it - all these concepts really are just common sense to me. This man took a mantra of the hippie era and made a money-making life for himself. Love and peace is all it is about. If you are a sane and rationale person all of this will come to you naturally. We all have trials and tribulations in this life - you can either deal with them and learn from them - or - you can cling to them and make yourself miserable.

If I may have a moment of your time Ms. Mardi. I think that's rather callous & harsh of you to be so judgmental on someone else's Journey and what they have been through that helped mold them the way they, (we) are. We all have our cross to bear, but some of us have been abused, missed used, beaten down, brainwashed, ect... from the moment we were born, and that's what the ones who told us they loved us did to us. Some people can come back from that and thrive... become wonderfully productive people. But their siblings may end up being on hooked drugs, alcohol... be in an abusive marriage(s)... may even become abusive to others themselves. Many, can't cope. They find no one willing or able to help. Many aren't even 'allowed' to search & ask for help, so their constant fear keep them quite, but screaming inside. Many of those eventually take their own life, and leave a whole different trail of hurt and pain for others to bear. We're not cookie cutter people. We all have different chemistry and our brains all work differently. I feel like you got yourself up on a pedestal, way above the rest of us, because you got something the rest of us insane and irrational people don't get. Lucky you, because you get it naturally while I'm listening to this video over and over... while trying to quieten all the screams and find a minute to myself so I can desperately and hopefully understand what they're putting down so I can pick it up. So I can try to make my last years on this Earth somewhat peaceful ones. True, there are those that love to waddle in their self-pity and there are those even worse ones, that are determined to remain miserable. Those that insist on bringing everyone within their grasp down with them, determined to cause them more misery than themselves, only to make themselves feel better. And there are some of us that are surrounded by those kind of people. If we all would be just be a little kinder and a little less condescending... and instead of calling people insane and irrational. Why not try something more productive & compassionate Mardi Cole, how about giving them a 'helping hand up'. Take all that knowledge that you have, that "common sense' that the rest of us are desperately searching for, please share it with the rest of us. Since it comes so natural to you and you got so much of it. Since you have fought in this man for making a little money doing it, then you shouldn't have no problem at all giving away yours for free. Let's see what you are going to do with that. I wish you the best. I wish I had been born with that gift of being able to naturally overcome trauma and not only cope with it but thrive effortlessly. Because that would definitely be a blessed 'gift'... and one I would surely feel obligated, but joyfully so, to generously share. During someone's dark days of suffering, anyone that can bring a little light in and keep that person hanging on for one more day, is doing a service for not only that person, but for Humanity. I sure thank you for your time.
