Have never used VR before but this convinced me to pull the trigger on the Pico 4. A lot of videos about its stand alone capabilities but yours is the first I could find that actually covered PCVR
I haven't actually spent much time on it since I'm waiting a bit to get a cable long enough for PCVR. I did play 2 games on it that looked really good after getting the headset to sit right on my face. It feels like it's a bit on the small side but I also have a big head so that might be it. Overall I would say I'm satisfied but maybe should have gone with something more mainstream.@@haze782
@@haze782 The max Render resolution is 1900 x 1900 in Standalone mode for Pico 4 (std, not Ultra Ed) according to dev doc but it has pancake len (single len, not dual len pancake as Quest 3's), which can account for 30～40% more pixels-in-sight than Quest 2. It is supposed to have better edge clarity and wider HFOV than Quest 3S.

Ive got the Pico4 and its a awesome headset with a powerfull pc get a nice facemask from amvr and some straps for the controllers and with the bobovr battery strap it will get so comfy that you can never wear any other headset its mindblowing
Great review mate. After so many problems with all of the oculus headsets that i owned and the faulty cords i vowed never to buy off those cunts ever again. Pico 4 is def my next choice. Great review and cheers for the info on it.
I found Pico 4 for 200€ on used marketplace. I got it immediately. I could get Quest 2 for similar price but on paper Pico 4 is better AND its not Meta. Even if I were not to give them money, I do not want to have them my account to boost user numbers, even if I did play just PCVR.
How are you comparing it to the q3, I recently got both and was hoping the pico be competitive with the q3 but the sweet spot rlly dissapointed me and although the res was quite close to the quest in half life alyx the stock comfort was worse than q3 and ofc brightness and contrast/colours were a lot worse. I’m hoping I’m doing something wrong? I’m using VD desktop with hevc 10 bit at 150mpbs it runs fine with the WiFi but when I try hevc+ 400mbps I get limited by VD to 150mbps so maybe my WiFi is limiting the graphical quality even on hevc or something? Idk hoping it’s some errors on my side
If I’m being 100% honest, which I always am. I think the quest 3 is a serious step up. I’m working on a vid for it. In terms of visuals even. The pico delivers visually, but metas software is superior. As annoyed as I can get with the oculus PC software… I still think it’s vastly easier to use than steam VR and performance at least for me is vastly better. I’m doing more testing, but so far I’m very impressed with the quest 3. The comfort sucks… but that’s a temporary problem
My Pico 4 has been great with my 3090. Planning on upgrading to the Pico 5 Pro Max when the 5090 cards are out. I never touched a Quest so I cant make a comparison
@@kaigrett5354 Yeah. I think they have a skeleton crew still working on something high end but I doubt they will be releasing anything vr related anytime soon, if ever
Short answer yes. The quest 2 has a lower fov and resolution, though the quest 2 can display 120hz and the pico 4 can display 90hz (when I looked at the difference in a game from 90 to 120hz on my quest 2 I couldn't really tell a difference) so the pico 4 would look a lot better, but as of right now I would wait a little while longer, the pico 5 got canceled sort of recently but there are rumors of another headset they could be working on also companies like to announce projects/new headsets around summer time so I would try and hold out until then. I hope that helps you out!
@@emrah7921 With an rx6800 you should be fine the pico has a higher resolution but you should be okay I have a similar gpu and my quest runs perfect at 120 hz.
I have grabbed a pico 4 128gb i am sick and tired of how meta has been treating fb creators lately so i want to try this and if its gpu support on pc is better than meta then well thats another nail in meta for me.
Yeah I'm also PCVR for same reasons & defo gonna go away from Meta Had a Rift S cable that died after moaning like F**k to Meta for a replacement cable since 28th November 2023 now 10th Jan 2024 they held me to ransom for my headset we wont just replace the cable! There was nothing wrong with my Rift S headset however I surrendered to there demands as just wanted my setup working again so waiting for RMA replacement! I've now decided after watching this video as soon as it arrives I will be selling for a Pico 4 ! Meta after care sucks!
Here’s my suggestion. After playing with Quest 3 it’s a seriously good headset. But of course it’s meta. If you have deep pockets then buy a pico 4 and forget about it. However, if you are wanting to buy a headset you will use for some time. You may want to wait a few months. Rumor has it that pico 5 is coming this year, and its supposedly going to have the accessory to attach it to a display port cable. If true it will be the most affordable and best PCVR headset on market. Again it’s rumors but figured I’d let you know!

Bought an Oculus rift a while back. could not find it (you know woman put stuff in places and you never find it again) Bought the Pico 4 yesterday 339,- . put it on i was like WTF.... tried the wireless steam vr.. 90fps 35ms.. WTF... Sound on my rift was way better but the video.. again WTF... x5950 RX7900XTX
its AWESOME 90fps 4k and using WiFi My brother saw it. and bought one to. he had tried my Oculus rift before , threw up on my floor and sad, VR looks horrible... well now he has a pico 4 :P I can real all text it puts out its sharp as hell.@@vemfantogminapa

Pico 5 is not coming. The company behind Pico basically fired the entire VR Departement and killed off the Pico 5

@@Platnm.3Pico 4 Ultra is what you get. Same LCD panel and lens but higher internal max. rendering resolution due to the chip replacement.
