Omgeeeeeeee!! Just heard this song/version, tonight (1-11-22) on 9-1-1 Lone Star, and cried my lashes off! 😩 This song hits different when you don’t want to let go, but you know you have to do what’s best for YOU!! 💔 Praying for all of us that were touched by this song and/or lyrics. 🙏🏾
This song hits hard at a home my children, the dog, and I came from. My second ex husband before I met him, had quit drinking a year ago. But after months into the relationship, he started drinking again. He pleaded for me to stay with him, even though when he was blacked out he would beat me. he was mean to my kids and the dog too. Once he started doing meth, I knew we had to get out or die. I checked this CD out at the library months before we left him. This song helped me to make the next step to get us out ! We are all doing much better. He passed away of an ulcer on his pancreas due to drinking.
Magenta Cooper i hope you are happy now. sometimes people just cannot kick their demons,; no matter how badly they wish to. i’m glad you got your babies, animals and yourself out of that situation. no one deserves that. meth is a hell of a drug. hugs to you~i’m glad you’ve rewritten the story to you life. (i am sorry to hear what happened to him)
Magenta ~ hope you're doing better now, too. So sorry you found yourself in that situation, but proud of you for getting yourself, the kids and your dog out safely. Condolences on his passing. I know better things are coming your way. Big hugs. Thinking of you. 🤗💞
Today has been a bad day as I have lost my best friend and older brother to Covid-19. His name was Keith and we had lived next door to each other for over 32 years. We weren't just neighbours we had become true family, he was a true shining light and a Gentleman. As strange as this may sound I heard this song on 9-1-1 Lonestar and it reminded me of him. So what ever you do in life appreciate those in it, for you never know when they may be gone.
I really wasn't going to say anything here because many people have made comments I agree with, but I'm very much in love with this song. I can as of recent relate to this, I just let someone go yesterday. every line signifies my pain, heartache but also the "beauty of letting go". I tried "acrobats" with this man, but all this time "there was no talking to this man" "he was trying to tell me so", so now it took a while but I'm gonna let him fly. sorry for so many quotes but it directly pointed to what I felt and knew in my heart, this song sealed my true reality.
very kind of you to say, believe it or not its still a work in progress not sure the direction we are not romantically involved but i still love him very much.I am trusting in the Lord for his will no matter what.
My fresh heartbreak brought me here. Used to listen to this a million years ago, in my 20’s and waitressing, before understanding I was doomed to always fall for the one who would want to leave... Now 25 years later, I’m seeking solace in knowing I’ve changed but also, stayed the same. I’ve been hurt but not lost my optimistic, light, funny heart. Music is my healer. She never lets me down and she doesn’t leave me where she finds me. Never forget the redemptive power of music. Send me the song that has saved you...
"There's no mercy in a live wire, no rest at all in freedom. Of the choices we are given it, there's no choice at all. The proof is in the fire you touch before it moves away... but you must always know how long to stay and when to go..." the lyrics are SO beautiful
I just wish I would have heard this song about 20 years ago when I was in a dead end relationship for 8 1/2 years, would have been my back drop song as I let him fly the hell down the road to Las Vegas! That was when TRUE LOVE was to fly into my life 12 years later❤️, and as the story goes THEY LIVED HAPPILY EVER AFTER🎶🎼🎉🎊🌹❤️
Very profound song. It hits home deep. The lyrics. Super sad, but true, as she says, "You must always know how long to stay and when to go, he's been tryna tell me so" "And though the light has left his face, but you can't recall just where or why," 💔😢 I knew it was the end and time to go more than 15 years ago, theres been so many signs, but this one is screaming at me. I found Patty Grifffin and this song when i was doing research on Robert Plant and found out he and Patty were together at one point.
Thanks Netflix and The Fear of 13 for turning me onto this song. I heard it on the VOICE too, but didn't get the emotion that I got from hearing Patty sing it!
Just like many the documentary " The Fear of 13" brought me here. Im just speechless. The way this man told his story, makes you feel like you jumped into a time machine and went back with him to see/hear it all. Not many writers/storytellers can do that. He could have achieved so much, but not is not always on your side unfortunately.
This song is still so beautiful. Now I think about it as my son is going to Kindergarten and I want to hold on tight. I have to let him fly to his next stage in life.
"Let Him Fly" Ain't no talkin to this man Ain't no pretty other side Ain't no way to understand the stupid words of pride It would take an acrobat, and I already tried all that so I'm gonna let him fly Things can move at such a pace The second hand just waved goodbye You know the light has left his face But you can't recall just where or why So there was really nothing to it I just went and cut right through it I said I'm gonna let him fly There's no mercy in a live wire No rest at all in freedom Of the choices we are given it's no choice at all The proof is in the fire You touch before it moves away But you must always know how long to stay and when to go And there ain't no talkin to this man He's been tryin to tell me so It took awhile to understand the beauty of just letting go Cause it would take an acrobat, I already tried all that I'm gonna let him fly I'm gonna let him fly I'm gonna let him fly
When a relationship is at its end, her line, but the choices we are given it's no choice at all rings bitterly true. There is no choice A or B. This lady wrote down some powerful and enabling words that will help you start to heal. But only use it for a short time, because it's like a bandage that eventually has to be removed. Don't keep revisiting it unless you are fully healed.
I’m 47 and met the love of my life two years ago. He’s American and lives in Georgia. I’m Australian and live in Australia. We had been friends for 6 years, prior. He ended it 15 months ago. We were planning a wedding and a life together. It has also been the heartbreak of my life. So much pain, loss and grief. I still miss him so very much. Letting go has been the hardest lesson of my life. I have finally accepted he didn’t choose me. Sending him love and light and letting him go. ❤️✌️❤️
Been going thru a hard mental struggle, there are times when i want to blow my brains out and think I can start over. but is there really another start? I always find the strength to try and fight another day. pls pray for me

The album was a demo tape recorded, I believe, in Griffin's apartment. The guitar was played by Adam Steinberg, who played guitar on the Dixie Chicks' cover as well. The siren was street noise that just happened to come through the closed window. When they sent the demo cassette to the record company (A&M), they hoped it would lead to a studio re-recording. But it was so good that A&M released the demo as is.
