    holy shit thats the most convenient way to bias an amp ive seen yet. Should be a standard on all of em nowadays for sure ain't no need for all this extra (and potentially dangerous) stuff you gotta do. cool video man this made me want a cali even more now lmao

    Extremely helpful and made it clearly understandable for a novice like myself who is yet to change tubes and do biasing.
    Cheers mate \m/

    Helpful video, thanks man! Haven't seen anyone explain it as well as you have. Appreciate it!

      Thx so much my brother. If you try it yourself on your amp please let me know if it was a smooth process, or if you have any questions don’t hesitate to ask bro.

    Thanks bro, after 5 videos you were the only that didn't just explain it, but actually showed what to do and why. Now the question still lies... how do you bias an amp that doesn't have a turntable screw to adjust the bias? 2nd, do you need a screw adjustment for each tube or do you pick a value from one tube that works and match the other to it? I always thought you were to match the output of one to the other which you just showed, but it seems like biasing really has just as much to do with headroom that it does to matching voltage. So in the end, you almost need to use your guitar and be a player to get the most out of the amp simply because what works for some, doesn't sound as good to others. Really makes sense why so many dumbles sound different even though the circuit is the same.

      Thx dude. Yeah it’s a must man. The tubes are the guts of the amp and they need to be taken care of.

    Great video! The pacing is perfect and explanations are super clear. I do have a small suggestion though. I feel like more people would find this video and some of your others if the title was changed to something less specific such as "What to do after changing your tubes - Biasing a Tube Amp" or something like that. Biasing is something super specific that someone would probably know about if they are searching it most generally.
    Just a thought. Anyway, thanks for the great content!

      Thx so much for the awesome feedback dude. Its rough out here in youtube land but I'm trying to see what works still I guess. I really appreciate your advice and I'm gonna try and apply it to my other videos. Thank you King 👑🙏🏾

    Great video thanks
    I sent off my tubes to be rated/tested/replaced to tube depot before seeing this. In the meantime. Can I check my amps bias w/out the tubes in sockets? I have a peavey invective 120

      @nosivo13 Thank you. Best to wait for the tubes. So you can pop them back in and bias.

    I know you love Randall Diavlo amps heads, im wondering if you bias them too if u have to change tubes. because it doesnt have a builtin bias points at the back of the amp.

    This was super helpful! I have a Bogner Uberschall head with EL34's, and fortunately the amp has the bias test points and trim pot on the outside of the chassis. Should be fairly easy to adjust. Although, I've checked the manual and it states that the factory bias is at 25mA + or - 1mA. Doesn't that seem a bit low for such a high gain amp? I suppose I should trust the manufacturer, but it's not a horribly common amp so I'm having trouble finding videos or reviews of anyone tinkering with the Uberschall.

      I'm glad you really dig the video. The 25ma rating seems to be per tube. I would first try it at the manufacturer setting and then try experimenting with a slightly higher bias setting to see if you can get a bit more girth out of the amp. Let me know if it works for you or if you have any other questions 🤘🏾😎🤘🏾

    Thanks for the video. Were you changing the mV using a screwdriver in those designated bias ports?

      Hey dude thanks so much for watching. Yeah I was using a Flathead screwdriver. They almost always are flatheads. Thanks so much for the support man and never hesitate to reach out with questions or just to chat 🤘🏾😎🤘🏾

      @@DreadfulGooz pleasure is mine and thanks for the explanation. I live in India and I recently purchased a 2008 Hughes and Kettner Statesman EL34 head and would hopefully be getting a combination of a load box + attenuator, probably something like a Two notes Captor to go straight to my full range near field monitors.
      Thanks again!

      @@PlayFloyd_IN those are great. They make some of the best shit. I don't personally use them because I have the ability to blast he amps at anytime but if I couldn't I would definitely get the two notes stuff.
      Have you seen the pedals that they make?

      @@DreadfulGooz though I absolutely would like to purchase a 2x12 cabinet, ai don't envision that happening for another 18 months or so. 🙃
      Are you referring to the pre-amp pedals by two notes? If so, I know of them and have not ever seen them in person. I haven't seen a captor either in person... 😄

    I have the peavey invective 120 & it happens to have bias test points. It only has a single knob for bias adjustment. With all four tubes installed When I move bias knob adjust it affects all four tubes. Do all four tubes need to be installed or can I do them single/individually?

    • @DreadfulGooz
      @DreadfulGooz  Месяц назад +1

      @nosivo13 If you're changing out power tubes, it is best to do them all at once and make sure to buy a matched set.

    Can you stick the black probe to the chassis instead?

  • @henrik7207
    @henrik7207 2 года назад

    use the multimeter to test the fuse and the tubes .. if the tube is broken it have a short and if a fuse is blown the power cant go acros ... you "can" use a vire as a fuse but it a bad ide because it dont blow up so the problem go into the amp insted of stop at the fuse

    What if you don't have bias jacks?

    • @DreadfulGooz
      @DreadfulGooz  4 года назад

      If you don't have bias jacks then you need to open the amp up and find the trim pots and the test points. The test points is where you put the probes and then the trim pots it where you adjust and most of the trim pots are Philips head screwdriver. Let me know if you need help.
