I do quite abit because me & Jerry had something special that I know I never had that with any other man but I missed out on being with him because of big Steve scared me by telling me not to come to anymore shows that he wouldn’t let me in ! The Gratefuldead was just what we all needed at the time they came out because of that stupid war , the unrest in our own country which isn’t ours anymore ! Thank u for all the music because we still need more now then ever ! Beautiful is what they all were !

Like so many posting here, I was a child of the 80s, 87-95 were my years. Though my shows tapered off following fall '91. Summer '89 was the last year stadiums allowed the circus to camp at the venue. There was just something special happening then. A whole new generation of heads infused the scene with even more passion and fervor. There are certain smells and sounds that take me right back. Fond fond memories.
this was my first show. i was 14 yrs old....my brain melted. I can't believe how good this show was, I've never seen it before now. thank you for posting it
Whitney Van Sant I've seen a little under 300 shows, and my brain was melted through all of them. . But I was really fried touring them during the European Shows in '90. Germany, France and England. . Was definitely worth every trip
Jason Horne. The Glasses adjustment was pretty much a signature Jerry move, wasn't it? I never really thought about it much before now but I'd bet I've seen that 50+ times live.
@@chrisrutherford3 lol …..to be real about it, it's kind of a move done by anyone who has to operate under conditions that would cause their glasses to drop. Ha! Although I have to confess, when my son was 4 and wearing glasses for the first time, when he had to push them up, I taught him how (using the bridge of his nose), and I thought of Jerry Garcia.
Loved this show. We got talking about this show a couple years ago. I recall when they finished up that first set with Jack Straw, just dynamite, after my buddy Gary and I gave each other the standard high 5 I said to him, “now that’s how you close out a first set” he said you’re damn right now let’s get a beer
Rite on dude... Brent is my mentor on keys.. I was at the Spectrum in the mid -late 80's as well... killer shows... killer times... took it for granted that it would last forever...
Thanx Voodoonola for all the postings, but especially for this show. It was great then, & is wonderful to see again. I forgot how much I missed Brent doing Blow Away😢. RIP
Jerry was like the big grandpa Teddy Bear, and Brent was like the cute little Puppy Dog...THEY WERE SO GREAT TOGETHER......I saw them 3 times during this time, and I am so glad I did....
I am/was a l'il too young, but their connection, love for each other, & playfulness is glaringly apparent watching these vids of the live shows...suuuch a treat!
Thank you for posting all of these shows with the song lists. They bring back such awesome memories of oh so many wonderful shows and times we had going to Grateful Dead shows.
Two or three times a year my sister and I have what we call a Dead Party where beer is the drink, bbq is the food, summer is the weather, and Grateful Dead is the music. Always Grate, always loud, and always fantastic. Most of the time a two day party. Oh yeah some good whiskey too.
10-16-89 gets all the love, I had never heard this one till today. Solid gig front to back, only 6 tuns in the first half but... Aces back to back for sure. Blow Away is a late Brent era gem. Second half all gravy after this first set;) to these ears and eyes anyway. Thanks for the vid.
Whole Fall tour is legendary. Not because every show was well-played, but because of the vibe after the Hampton surprises. It was surreal at the time... of course, a few months later was Spring Tour 90, where every show WAS well-played. What a fucking great band.
Thanks VDN. Seen about 100 west coast shows but the whole jersey/east coast thing adds layers of depth to the Band Beyond Description. And the fans....different breed.
And that’s every one of em since.....yeah!!!!!!!! that’s right, you guessed it ..........1960-fuckin five!!! Everyone of em , east, west ,Europe since ‘65 And ,that’s right......you guessed it.....my face melted at every show🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂
Yes we r different from the east coast ! I’m from a island in Penobscot bay about 15 or so miles from the mainland ! Jerry came looking for me & ended up in Stonington Maine another island , that was the last time I was with him , I told this story before but some don’t believe me I guess but that was in 1988 in Portland Me. I never saw him again 🥲😢❤️🐇🐰🌹
I’m one of those old fans that got to b with all the Gratefuldead family ! It was good for me but I never took any pictures except of me & Bobby ! It was when I left the scene because I couldn’t b with Jerry because of threats from Steve Parish but also no body was going to save Jerry from himself so I left him ! 😊
I was at the two Miami shows on this tore got my first and only dark star. Thank you for posting. I was lucky enough to catch 72 dead shows now i sit on my old ass and re tore on youtube. now and then i pick a show never read the set list first so i can guess. and watch the whole show. this was a great night. but no parking lot could use burrito about now. wheres the burrito bago guy.
when i was a kid, grateful dead was the summer attraction. I was about 10 when it was 88'. I didn't get my mom to take me. I still the memories of the time.
damn right he was they never got as close to being as great since he died it was the beginning of the end of a wonderful band i had many great times from 85 to 90 i miss those days
I was only 20 when he died. I was lucky enough t start going to shows in '92. Got to see over 30. Being from Chicago was also lucky to see the final show.
Absolutely not man i still shed tears when i'am stoned and chilling with my head phones on and its just the music playing i flow with the music and I'LL CRY TEARS OF HAPPINESS SADNESS AND REMEMBERENCE. ESPECIALLY WITH SHOWS I WAS AT SOMETIMES I CRY THINKING ABOUT HOW LUCKY I WAS TO HAVE SEEN BRENT PLAY AND HOW JERRY SEEMED SO HAPPY 😂 88,89,90, THREE BEST YRS OF MY LIFE. CRYING IS GOOD FOR YA.LET IT OUT
mark belek I know you made this post two years ago but I found it googling around for the burrito bago. It was run by my uncle until he passed away several years ago. I still have all the dancing pepper signs and menus from the bago. It brings a smile to my face to know people remember and miss the bago. I worked it a few times before he passed and they were great memories. Now excuse me while I put on one of his old dead albums and reminisce. Peace.
great burrito great guy knowing how to love and enjoy life. sorry to hear "hes gone" now i will go find a show with that song in the set and have one for him. WOW just looked this show has one. i love my couch touring. much love from all his brothers and sisters. Mark.
I think all the shows I caught were in 86-89, including most of the nine-show stretch they did at MSG. The robustness of the scene in 88 and 89 was something that truly holds the magic of it all, of the Grateful Dead, of Jerry Garcia... I still miss the strength of community those years held.
I agree bro... The music lost alot of clarity from 90-95 after Brent passed... became, for lack of better words, monochrome ... Brent added much texture and color to the fabric of the music in the 80's.. he is missed
Vince would have changed the Dead's sound into more of an Eno-like vibe if they'd lasted longer with him, and he did in Space and some other tunes. My friends and I were Vince fans during his early days with The Tubes, another fun band.

Started that tour with warlocks in Hampton got pulled over few miles from the arena jail in NJ sucks missed those shows, illegal search seizure hemmed me up
My first show was Nassau 1984 by 1987 I did not miss a show at msg Nassau or the Meadowlands or giant stadium they are some of my best memories and now 35 years later I am going to on tour in California and the whole west coast I some times feel like lou gehrig the luckiest man on the face of the earth after 35 years I still love to travel the country and hang out in parking lots and hear great music

For me when Jerry died, everything lost nothing gained. My life is evolved around all only his music and shows. After July 1995 there is no other music I care about. Just Jerry's music by Jerry and the Dead and JGB. That's it and that's fine. Got on the bus in Dec 1995 and stayed on it.
during the summer of 89 someone painted a large steel your face on the rocks above the NJ Turnpike. For years every time I went to the city that put a smile on my face. I wonder if it's still there??
Grew up in NJ moved cali in 86 flew back nj see these shows but my lame friend didnt get tix so we show up 5 hours b4 show starts stood at empty booths parking lot people kept handing us 5 bucks for parking lol. Made 2k looking for tix lol till security ran us out of there lol
if Garcia was a live today hed be the master of electronic music in a big way this bird song and looks like rain would indicate. jack straw has some interesting high energy. whoa phil easy on the bass buddy hey pocky way that effect Garcia used legit sounded like a sax for a quarter minute and he pulled it off back in space now a trumpet synth now like draculas keyboard the sugar mag starts in a real cool way. this is great.
Great show, featuring my two all time favorite Brent Mydland sung songs, his own epic masterwork "Blow Away" and The Meters' funk classic "Hey Pocky Way". 1989 was a high water mark for the Grateful Dead, right up there with 1969 and 1977... (in fact I much prefer it to 1977)
Anyone else still well up with tears of sadness , joy, and gratitude sometimes or is it just me ?
EVERY TIME my friend!...miss Jerry and Brent, every. single. day!...still Grateful...✌🏼💀💨🎸🐅🥀🐢🏟🐊🍄🎙🇺🇸🌍🔈🔉🔊🎶

Mmmhmmm, the psychedelic explosion was definitely a serious problem for the global power structure/controllers
Well, that and the whistleblowing that jfk did/attempted in his address to the american newspaper publishers association on april 27 1961
He tried his damnedest to get some honesty & transparency happening
I'm unsure if he didn't realize exactly how wrong the tree he was barking up was...or if he was hoping there was a lack of ultimate control with/of the highest ups in the press
But man, just as he was saying...that was an impenetrable wall
Such a shame 😔
This show was my first Grateful Dead concert . . . and as Jack Nicholson said in the 1969 movie, *EASYRIDER* . . . "I'm hooked."
Rip Jerry and Brent this middle aged man misses both of you and the music you both created
the grateful dead saved my life again today
Brent was the man.. so awesome to see these 80's shows... it's like a time warp
2 seconds in , I pushed the like button.......

Yep. tix were impossible after 87. Too many sight seers and beer chugging party goers.
You saying you were dosing at 14 ? Damn , that's hardcore lol. I tried dmt at 15 and probably will never mess with any psychs again
Whitney Van Sant 89 was a great year. Brent and Jerry had something special going on.
The subtle "push up the glasses" move. . Love it.. Always have n always will

I completely agree with you man...After Brent died it was NEVER the same for me...
Agreed. After Brent, the band never more was the same.

Great show, featuring my two all time favorite Brent Mydland sung songs, his own epic masterwork "Blow Away" and The Meters' funk classic "Hey Pocky Way".
1989 was a high water mark for the Grateful Dead, right up there with 1969 and 1977... (in fact I much prefer it to 1977)
Personally nothing compares to 77...so tight so much energy...for me anyway....I have the burnt CD's of Buffalo 77......carries me so far away....
Epic masterwork???
You should watch the “Hey Pocky Way “ 1987 @ Shoreline. Perfect version
You are my HERO Voodonola
My word r they crying in this one let alone looks like rain ! I’m crying now !
