    Good video.
The Skeeter loads goes 840 fps from a 3 inch barrel and the Keith loads goes 985 fps.
A good Bulldog practice load is a cowboy 200 gr cast RNFP and the start load for
    AA#2.

Keith developed his heavy .44 Special load in Colt Single Action revolvers (among others). I would not be worried about shooting it in the New Vaquero or the new Flat Top .44 Special Blackhawks - except maybe for the recoil.

I will be picking up a "Bulldog" soon as a replacement for one I owned way back in 1976. Back then I carried that revolver as backup to my department issued .38Spl. I had also just started handloading and felt that King Elmer was the man! So, I utilized one of his favorite .44Spl loads in my Charter Arms. That went well until I took the revolver and a bunch of handloads (255grn "Keith Style" LSWCHPs) over a dose of Unique powder (I will not share the grain loading) to our department range. While the revolver suffered no damage that I could ever find, I realized the Charter was WAY too lightweight for the loading. So, I decided I would fire off the balance of the reloads in my Ruger Super Blackhawk in .44 Magnum with a 7.5" barrel. And the results were? A fireball even larger than the one I had seen come out of the 3" barrel of the Bulldog and the recoil, even in the far heavier Ruger, was amazing to say the least! I promptly retired that loading and reduced the powder charge which resulted in excellent accuracy out of both revolvers. By the way, the heavy loading was kind of scary accuracy wise out to 75 yards out of the Ruger and 50 out of the Charter Arms. And by accurate I mean easy center mass hits when utilizing a two handed "cup and saucer" hold from either revolver and the expansion of the 255grn LSWCHPs was awesome!

The Bulldog is an awesome gun, in my opinion. It fill a big bore-pocket gun niche that no other can for me, so it's one I will never part with.

Thanks. I probably shouldn't make them public before it bumps up to 4K, but I go ahead and make the low resolution public while it's processing.
I've been leaving in a little more side dialog, banter, etc... very lately. I figured it might help the viewer see more reality in what I'm doing. It's all unscripted, steam of consciousness, and full of holes...so it might as well look that way.

Thanks for this video, Mr. Plowboy. Wish I had meet you before I bought my first handgun back in the early 1990s. You could have helped me better understand the articles On Elmer Keith and Skeeter Skelton ammo loads. I'd probably have learned to reload my own ammo. Since seeing your videos regarding ammo, I would have bought some different guns and not traded some that I owned. LOL Take Care. Also I liked that 1911 you were packing in the video. Those grips looked really good!

Back in the very early '90s I didn't know anything about Skeeter or Elmer Keith. I was into my Ruger P85 9mm, Beretta 92FS, and by the end of '93, a Glock Model 22.
In those days, I kept Norinco AK's as well as a Marlin 336 30/30.

Pearce listed the Ruger Flattop to tier 3. I will say that when loaded to the Keith load it has a bark and bite and its velocity is almost identical to store shelf 44 mag. Loaded with the MP 640 hp mold it makes for an excellent low end tier 2 load that would be good for short range deer load.

Nope. I use Special brass for Specials...otherwise they're just light loaded Magnums.
Neither of the loads I load for .44 Sp. will blow up a current production Bulldog, but that 7.5 gr Universal/250 gr Keith bullet load might be hard on it over a long time of steady shooting.
