Ate and left no crumbs ! My no. 1 is Isle of Dogs followed by The Grand Budapest Hotel. I'm reluctant to watch Asteroid City though...can't really give a good reason why other than maybe knowing it might not ever be as good as my tops .

I LOVE the Isle of Dogs support here!! I will say though, for someone with the filmography that Anderson has, Asteroid City made so much sense to me. A sincerely, deeply meta look at visual media, broken telephone style with writers, actors, stage play, characters... this idea that everything starts from lived experience, then that person writing, then the script being read, then the script being acted by real people with their own experiences, then the filming, and then us! the audience, watching, interpreting, and making a youtube video about it. I think Anderson's incredibly distinct style is meant to be the only truly coherent part of the movie, and the rest is up to interpretation. This is why the casting was so important of so many characters (think: Michael Keaton in Birdman). So, total respect to your interpretation, but I've gotta heavily disagree with your placement!

I enjoyed The Darjeeling Limited too. I don't understand why some people call it Wes Anderson's worst movie.

Let's be real, who in the world wouldn't rate the Budapest hotel as number one. Also I still have to catch up on some of these lol

The Astroid City slander is diabolical. It's definitely scatterbrained asf but I adore that movie and how it explores grief and the play blending with reality.
I understand why confusion being an intentional part of the narrative may seem like an excuse for incoherent writing but it clicked with me for sure.
