Yes forging SD will give you SD MKII which has improved stats but does not change any of the abilities and also gives it a flame effect. You can only have one perk equipped at a time
I use Shift Lock mode and sometimes I hooked the corpse... It was infruriating To prevent it, I try to insta kill by heading straight and time the orbit as small as possible to avoid hooking the corpse. I practiced it long enough until I can do it without looking so I can focus on aiming the next titan.

after i kill titan i cant grapple anywhere bcs its dead body hitbox is covering
