Remember u also have to take in the fact if they got lucky with their chances. They probably got success alot more than an average player, but someone could be so unlucky and spend thousands only to keep failing.
There is someone on my discord that is maxed and "only" spent $1.2k. He also had barely any failures, so I can definitely believe $1.5k with above average luck.

There is also a huge diff between 1.2k RMT vs 1.2k trading Royal crystals, not to mention that always the chance he is low balling. I think the best bet is to ask for a screenshot of his honing fail acheivement. A lot of the players I've seen have ~180 to 200 fails to get to 1370.

You all do realize that whales that went past 1370 and have their roster level, virtues etc in an abysmal state will never get invited in legion raids or any other endgame contents based on how it is in KR? Current contents only require certain ilvl and decent engravings, but those two things aren't the only stuff that you'll need for the endgame. In KR if you want to get into a legion raid group, the raidlead will chk ur roster lvl, performance (which will obviously be bad for whales who did bare minimum horizontal progression contents, low skill points, skill runes that you cannot get by spending money etc), and if you don't meet these requirements you will not get an invite. This will surely happen in NA / EU too

Also you can have those and not get invited cause you gear is crap and too low so it balances out. You're supposed to put most of your stats into spec while crit is your secondary because spec helps DB'S generate meter faster. 900+ spec practically guarantees full meter from one full rotation of skills. He's likely just holding onto the items that give him the adrenaline RE and Super Charge (the domination and eundurance)until he finds replacements with the stats he needs.

Yeah, don't get me wrong, that requires a shitton of game time but 1385 right now is possible as a F2P player. I am not 100% F2P myself, I did buy the Platinum Founders Pack after all. That being said, my power-advantages I got were the 2600 Blue crystals (10€) and 30k in Gold from selling skins in T3. That's basically nothing. I am at 1355 and maybe I am about 5 ilvl higher than I would be without having bought that. But in retrospect I made a lot of mistakes experienced players from the RU servers would not have made.

The whales only enable developers to put in these p2w systems, not only enable, encourage is probably an even better word for it. Just look at PoE for example. Stash tabs and cosmetics are optional, you can try out the game for free, see if you like it. If you like it and really get into it you're probably going to buy stash tabs. I've also seen so many people in PoE who bought a few cosmetic boxes not mainly with the goal of having a better looking character or skills, but with the main goal of actually supporting the developers. Or Valorant, everyone and their mother is walking around with 10$+ skins in this game and it's doing phenomenal. There are tons of other ways to keep games going and growing without p2w or pay to progression. Yeah it might not be as much money, but still easily enough.

This kind of exploitation in games should be illegal. The digital items from most free to play and mobile games have no resale value due to there not being a secondary market and the ability to trade the items to recover cost when you exit the hobby. This is why paper MTG is a better investment than digital TCGs. This F2P gaming market is beyond predatory and should be regulated.

the game needs to have a 2nd section on under your "item level" wjere it says "gear earned" there should be a 2nd one for "Gear bought" so players can see and know who really plays the game and who just wastes money.

I am not 100% F2P myself, I did buy the Platinum Founders Pack after all. That being said, my power-advantages I got were the 2600 Blue crystals (10€) and 30k in Gold from selling skins in T3. That's basically nothing. I am at 1355 and maybe I am about 5 ilvl higher than I would be without having bought that. But in retrospect I made a lot of mistakes experienced players from the RU servers would not have made.

Scary how normalized "pay2win" has become, regardless if the items are obtainable in game still or if the game is free, you're still gaining an edge over other players by spending money. Plenty of routes to go for funding that don't need to involve gaining an edge over other players, but we're not allowed to question this type of stuff anymore I guess,.

Can't believe so many people in the comments think that these whales are REQUIRED to keep f2p games running. The whales only enable developers to put in these p2w systems, not only enable, encourage is probably an even better word for it.
Just look at PoE for example. Stash tabs and cosmetics are optional, you can try out the game for free, see if you like it. If you like it and really get into it you're probably going to buy stash tabs. I've also seen so many people in PoE who bought a few cosmetic boxes not mainly with the goal of having a better looking character or skills, but with the main goal of actually supporting the developers.
Or Valorant, everyone and their mother is walking around with 10$+ skins in this game and it's doing phenomenal.
There are tons of other ways to keep games going and growing without p2w or pay to progression. Yeah it might not be as much money, but still easily enough.

The funny thing is normal people think $1,500.00 is a whale but these players don't even register. For Mobile games multiple developers have stated they have whales around $500,000.00 mark. I know it's probably physically impossible to spend that much in Lost Ark but still... imagine.
This kind of exploitation in games should be illegal. The digital items from most free to play and mobile games have no resale value due to there not being a secondary market and the ability to trade the items to recover cost when you exit the hobby. This is why paper MTG is a better investment than digital TCGs. This F2P gaming market is beyond predatory and should be regulated.
