Oh gosh, I love that you said this. Such a breath of fresh air! I know that I can't buy luxury bags like the people I watch, and that's okay. But watching various vloggers videos, the sense that it was *never* enough ... I've just been wondering how much it's good for me to consume that kind of content. We're not supposed to judge, but the over consumption values we're cultivating are probably bad for our world and society at large, and that includes buying 30 cheap things at discount online stores as well. There are negative outcomes for our world, our society, our finances, our mental health, everything, from the constant consumption, but we just have to smile and say "that's beautiful!" And honestly, it often is beautiful! So I like looking! I'm implicated too! I like looking and buying. It's fun! But what I like even more is the effort to consume less and discussions on how we can still enjoy buying, but at a slower pace, and appreciate what we have, style it, review it, etc.
I went on a no buy, low buy, minimalist trip and at the end of the day what I learned was I need to give more thought about what I buy before buying it and that I can love something but it doesn’t mean I have to buy it. Great job sticking to your no purse but. It definitely is not easy. I appreciate you sharing lessons learned with us.
I love when luxury channels move more towards intentionality instead of doing unboxings every week. It makes me feel like they really really love the bags they pick and I enjoy the videos a lot more knowing that.
I totally agree with you. I also went through buying lots of designer handbags and jewellery then lockdown happened and I got into gardening. Now I get more pleasure in buying new plants and trees and being outdoors in the garden and fresh air. This spring I invested in a beautiful Victorian greenhouse and now that is my “happy place”. I have a table and chairs inside and I can sit and relax in there and look out towards the garden and enjoy all the work that I have done to make it look beautiful and plan how to make it even more stunning next year.
I found your channel when I just started my lux obsession 😅, it was just over 2 yrs now. I have 4 leather(YSLs/Gucci's) and 12 LV canvas collected. I consciously stopped and realized that I went too far from my original plan of just having a capsule collection. Im gonna let go of at least 8,realizing that my lifestyle doesn't need that many lux items. I just hope i can get some of my $$$ back.
leaving a comment because i want to support creators who make low/no-buy content. my fav luxury channels are people who don't center their content on massive hauls and actually use + appreciate what they own
Love your channel! I’m on the same journey to unlearn prioritize shopping and focus more on saving my money and time so I can spend more time with my family and enjoy what I already have. Living in gratitude!
I think it’s moderation. If someone has basically all the bags on their wishlist, then yes it’s time to take a break. Some people like myself have a few more bags I would like to acquire. That being said, I take my time and make conscientious purchases. It’s not about just buying bags for me anymore; but purchasing what I really love , and what fits into my lifestyle 😊❤
I think the strongest point you made that resonated with me was that when you stall buying any new bags you can actually find the frenzy dies down and you just don’t care quite so much about a bag after a month or two. I’ve been saving for a holiday we’re about to take and that’s slowed down my spending on bags. I’ve found some bags I thought I really really wanted just aren’t important anymore. The ones that are still there I can now prioritise when I’m ready.
I appreciate your honesty and ability to express the emotional and practical issues regarding buying. It's helped me to reflect and to be honest with myself. I don't have a luxury designer collection of anything but have always loved fashion, style, quality materials and the details and have realized that, for me, going down the rabbit hole of design history very often takes care of my need. If I lived near a city and large stores it would likely be different but it's a trade off I am not willing to make. So I'll enjoy lux bags through my favorite channels and people! Thanks for giving me framework for reflection.
Hi Amelia! I made a pause, too in buying handbags. It’s been months since the last time I made a purchase. I’m trying to use and enjoy the ones that I already have. I also have bags that I barely use and some. But, it’s so hard to let go!
I’m so pleased for you, Amelia Rose, especially because your handbags still make you smile and spark joy in you. There definitely nothing wrong with taking a break and reflecting and I am so glad that you will still be a part of the luxury RUclips family. Thank you for continuing to share your beautiful collection with us!
Wonderful video. I’ve followed you since your old name (PLL) and when you didn’t even have a head! You’re still fab to watch, and the chats are great. Wishing you continued success with your channel. ❤❤
I too take breaks on buying and think it’s pretty important. I tend to spend in kind of a frenzied, all at once way, and so to help feel balance and control I like to intersperse that with periods of buying nothing. I find that, like you, a lot of bags I have my eye on tend to fade away and I love enjoying what I have. I also think it’s important to recognize how much we love this hobby too, I’m with you that it’s not a waste!❤
Your face looks good! Watcha doin…..girl….its so easy to get caught up…..try this…I did an experiment where I wore a bag for one week and I figured out half my bags did not work for my life style…so I am selling…..I will keep a couple for sentimental but many will have to go.
Very good decision, Amelia! I need a (very long) break from buying too. I realized that a couple of weeks ago when I started worrying about someone breaking into our house during our holidays and hitting the "Bag Jackpot". It's too much now. Worth so much money. I need to enjoy what I have now and spent so much money on...
Good for you, Amelia. It’s nice to see new bags come in but it’s nice to see older ones used too. Understanding our personality, being mindful of and curbing some traits that lead us astray 😅 is a big win! This is why I purposefully keep my bag budget pretty low. I know I have a tendency to become obsessive and would be buying everything I like that was seasonal when my lifestyle is such that I don’t need many handbags at all. It’s amazing how many I save pictures of and how many fall off the radar within weeks.
Some people might say this isn’t hard but it is. I’m on Month 4. I decided other things are a priority. So those who say we spend without thinking doesn’t get it as we access and fix our ways.
It’s wonderful that you take the time for self reflection and analysis of your habits. You are Ok with having bags that are not or rarely used, so you can continue buying what you love. For me, bags aside from pure aesthetics need to have practical application. When my bags just sit on the shelf, since I am retired and don’t have a lifestyle to wear them, I feel guilty buying any new ones.
Such good points! Sold so much because the bag I was loving truly wasn't working for me for one reason or another or didn't love it as much as I thought I did. I'm reviewing what I have and will likely sell a bit more --- but really assessing ahead of that and then I will really look at what gaps are in my wardrobe from there. Thanks for sharing.
I'm so glad to hear that taking a break worked out for you and it was a positive experience. Thanks for sharing your insights and for your honesty. I recently took a break from social media and saw your video so I believe no matter what it is, we all need a break/pause/reset to re-evaluate or "getaway" from whatever it may be even a hobby especially when luxury can sometimes feel like non-stop consumption. I laughed when you said you feel like you are taking your bag on a date because I get that feeling too, lol! Thanks again for sharing Xx
I notice a grasping element in myself in acquiring material goods that doesn’t sit well with my Buddhist leanings. I now have 4 lovely handbags, but the thrill for me is in getting them at a fantastic price. 4 seems to be a good number for me to style with my outfits. When I buy something new I have also been practising giving something up by giving it away or selling it. What has been fun now also has been decorating the interior of the bags I now have, so I can swap things out easily. I also love bag charms and twillys. Pimping my bags makes me so happy. Have also pimped my best friend’s bag for her birthday.
Hi Amelia, great video as always and I couldn't agree more. I bought recently a bag of my dreams, but I also decided to sell the bags that don't give me butterflies and don't make me looking forward to wearing them. I have some bags that are too big for my current lifestyle and I don't wear them as they are too bulky and heavier than any of the smaller bags. There is absolutely no point or logic behind that so much money sits on shelves collecting dust.
For me, if I keep looking....boy am I going to find. So I just stop looking at what's new. I do enjoy watching others talk about what they have. And I love the exhibit displayed in your closet. Along with other handbag lovers.❤
I have been on a luxury handbag buying pause since May for various reasons, and it taught me that forcing myself to step away for a few hours, days, or months from what I imagine I 'need' puts things into perspective. If after some time I no longer think about something, that means I just saved myself the money and the heartache of realizing that I had made a mistake. I am determined to keep doing this going forward!
So happy that you are enjoying your bags! Love your collection, I can’t buy sooo many luxury handbags 👜 that I love so I really enjoy them through you! But you are right, we should be greatfull with what we have and enjoy them and not normalize buying every month those expensive handbags.
You are absolutely inspiring me! Thank you for your honesty and vulnerability. ❤ I've been also wondering if i should do a 3 month pause but can't bring myself to do it because im afraid i won't be able to stick to it. I'm in the phase you were in a few months back, this year it's been buy, buy, buy. My main motivations are space constraints and also my boys are starting to notice the rate of buying and it's just not a good example. 🤦🏻♀️ now excuse me while i replay this video again! Thank you for sharing, really! ❤❤❤
Great job, I struggle with the SAME problems!! It's really hard... I'm strangely obsessed with bags... period. I found designer handbags barely 4 years ago and I can't stop, but trying to stop!! 😂 I have 4 sisters and a mom who could care less about handbags, so I know it's not genetic!😂🤣 I've always liked bags, even from coach, le sport sac and Kipling, only now my taste is mainly LV and Chanel, to my husband's detriment. 😂😆Anyway, before I purchase, I try to think if it will be hard to sell later (if I get sick of it). I also always check preloved websites for the same item, or current prices of something I've been wanting awhile. Limited editions in LV sometimes go down in price a lot (the new Kusama pieces, garden, stardust from last year, certain leathers). I also check for wear and tear on many high priced items, to help me realize that the item I want won't look that great/won't wear well over time (old empreinte sags in certain styles and the embossing fades)... which ages the bag and makes it look dated and ugly. 😆😂 So those things help me avoid buying certain new bags. But again, it's really hard. I've bought a lot and sold a lot. Selling these days is a hassle now, not as fun. And losing money through consignment (last resort) is horrible as well. I am now trying to curate down and limit my bags. I have too many, and feel guilty that my collection could literally feed many villages!🥺 --Or, at the very least, be making us money through investments. Just wanted to share.😉Great job on 3 months! That's REALLY hard!! 🙌🏼💖🤗 I think I text my SAs more than my own mom on occasion, and that's sad!😱😅
I think it’s important to reflect so that we can stay grounded but as you say it’s something you love and you shouldn’t apologise for it - to yourself or others. X
Hi Amelia. I keep saying I need to take a break and I’m STRUGGLING!! My birthday is the end of this month so I have no more excuses to buy and spend. Let’s give this no buy another go!!
I'm so glad for you and you should really be so proud. And I really love how genuine you are about all your emotions and feelings towards your decision and how hard it is and how did you succeed to gain a positive experience out of this pause journey. Total respect. I actually am trying to do that. It is not easy at all especially cause shopping in general and especially luxury handbags give me some sort of emotional missing so I get a find relief in shopping which I know is not correct cause I started to be highly on big debts. But I'm trying hard to gain from your experience and follow same steps. Please wish me luck ❤
I’m in the same boat, I’ve not bought any luxury clothing or accessories since January. I’ve noticed I can live without the pieces & I can utilise the money for other things
Great video, I went a bit mad this year and trying to pause till March when I go paris! And only planning 1 then and maybe another later in the year ! ❤
I have the same problem with gold chains. There are chains I love and look real nice. But I can never wear them on a daily. The chain might be too heavy, too long, pendant getting in the way…
It can be good to sit back and reassess our habits sometimes. And even though I think everyone is different and can do what they want with their money; for me personally, I found I was buying bags in excess because I felt like I “had” to have a bag for each category bags come in. Then 1 for each season for every category, etc. After accumulating 50-ish luxury bags it gave me anxiety to have that many. I ended up selling a ton, and now only have 18 luxury bags. Before I could never use any enough to break them in to be smooshy or comfy. I’m much happier with the lesser amount I have now. Self reflection is essential for personal growth.
I've tried to wait on purchases too, and when I actually pause and look again and also read reviews etc., I find my interest waning on certain bags or other things.
I will follow your example, bring out all the bags that I own and try to create outfits to match them. I don't own many designer bags(3) but I have more bags than I need to be honest (no, I do not need 30😂) but I still feel tempted to buy more.
whilst 3 months is a good start; it s hardly an accomplishment. You're on the right track keep going, but don't fall into the trap of wow I did this ok now let me get back to my bad habits.
I always think of that saying - there are no pockets in a shroud. It seems to me that you put aside money for essentials and the rest should be for what you enjoy. What does it matter if you buy things that turn out to be not what you thought they’d be? In the grand scheme of things, you can buy something else that fits better into your lifestyle.
I limit myself to how many I can own. The last bag was 8 months ago, and I am still loving it a lot. I need to let go of one now, before my Nov trip to Paris. ❤
Maybe you can do videos on how you style your handbags because you haves a such unique collection that I love with almost any neutrals and full of colors, so difficult yo find! You challenge me to use more colors in my life!!!
I went through my recites and felt my hair got more grey. All costs adds up. The worst is i feel like i have not really bought that much even, but scarfs and twillies /bandeau etc small bagcharm have just really add up. If I feel the itch to buy something now I would look at the total money used, shiver a little and come to my sense to stop buying or sell something if I can't stop wanting something after a year. I think I was suffering from the FOPI, fear of price increases.....
A cultivated collection makes sense. We just love collecting. I collect everything, now it's watches since I have all the bags, shoes, the coats, hats, & fragrances I need. But I stop.after I have the variety I need. Now i need a cartier, omega , rolex, citizen and sieko watch and a moon phase watch 😅 Keep up the good work maybe you will find something else to collect. Watches are alot less expensive😅
@ameliarosescloset they can cost as much as luxury bags. Cartier, rolex, omega even gran seiko, casio Longines just wow mY new obsession 😍 been binge watching how to start a collection with the right size watch and budget
Oh, I thought I was the only one that had a Handbags phobia, my hand bags are not the price yours are, but one day in the morning I changed handbags four times. I wasn’t satisfied. I’m not satisfied with them. I need to. I don’t care if I’m down to one or two I need to sell the handbags that I just don’t like anymore, I am very impulsive to and I love it when I buy it and a month later I don’t like it. I actually took three back in the last six months after two weeks. I really need to pull this phobia I get some counseling lol.
If money wouldn't be an issue, i would have gone more than what you had. lol....Anyway for sure it is good to use what we have and take a pause and a step back. Curious which one you would let go. Do share with us. Certainly, buying handbags is a journey, we learned what works and what don't and this will also change as we are going thru different phase of life as we age. So updating your wardrobe is certainly a must not just for you but for everyone else.
Many of us are in your boat. We just need to buy with intention….I do virtual shopping sprees whereby I put bags in the shopping cart and then a week later…I am over it…talk about saving thousands and thousands….going back a week later..I have moved on to something else….so I guess a lesson is there will always be wonderful bags coming out…every month the brands comes out with so many bags…they will have us in the poor house….just sayin
I used to love watching your videos but then I realized I can no longer relate because your shopping got out of hand. I am happy you “stopped” or slowing down for mental health. But I don’t think you can say you “stopped” when it has only been a couple months. Caitlin Pawlowski has been going through this journey for years at this point and she I think can say that she stopped or changed her habit around. Sending love ❤ keep going.
No i definitely haven't stopped and my intention was never to stop, but to break the cycle and get back to buying more intentionally. I had slipped into buying thoughtlessly for a while. I needed to re evaluate and slowing down and being more intentional was the goal x
I respect your opinion, but I think you are allowing the naysayers to affect your decisions and feelings. If you love handbags and buy them just for them to sit on the shelf, that is YOUR choice and no one should give you flack about it. We all have our own vices and that's just it! I have numerous bags, 8 of which are chanel bags, that I use only when I'M ready and if that's once every 4 years, that's my choice. I still continue to shop handbags bc it's what I enjoy doing and I'm spending MY OWN money So, if I choose NOT to consider cost per wear, oh well! I haven't worn my jumbo or gst once in the last 3-4 years and they are still in my collection, where they will remain. I think you are an awesome person, who likes handbags and collecting handbags....and if your collection is just to look at, that's GREAT too! Do what makes YOU happy and don't allow ANYONE to cause you to have guilt for YOUR choices ❤
Thank you for this, and i agree it would be easy to listen to those voices and think i need to stop. I am definitely not stopping and will continue to buy handbags, i had gotten to the point i was a little uncomfortable though and that's when i needed a pause. I have no problem with bags not being used for a long time so long as i still really love them, it's the ones that i don't love enough that give me pause. But i am definitely not stopping, i love buying handbags! And there will be some on the shelves that are very rarely used but i adore x

What has been fun now also has been decorating the interior of the bags I now have, so I can swap things out easily. I also love bag charms and twillys. Pimping my bags makes me so happy. Have also pimped my best friend’s bag for her birthday.
You sound to have a vey healthy grasp on this
Finally caught up with your videos! Thanks for sharing, Amelia!
Thank you!
This is exactly where i am at, no point in them being here and not loving them
Great video..totally agree about too much shopping
Yes! Thank you!
For me, if I keep looking....boy am I going to find. So I just stop looking at what's new. I do enjoy watching others talk about what they have. And I love the exhibit displayed in your closet. Along with other handbag lovers.❤
Thank you so much
Three months of not shopping is a real achievement. I really commend you for this. Well done Amelia. I’m attempting the same challenge myself.❤❤
3. months doesn't sound like a lot but it was for me!
@@ameliarosescloset I think the most I’ve gotten is 6 weeks 😅
I have been on a luxury handbag buying pause since May for various reasons, and it taught me that forcing myself to step away for a few hours, days, or months from what I imagine I 'need' puts things into perspective. If after some time I no longer think about something, that means I just saved myself the money and the heartache of realizing that I had made a mistake. I am determined to keep doing this going forward!
I couldn't agree with this more
Fantastic points!
Thanks!
Thanks for sharing. Great reminder to take a pause and to step away from the hype
I can get caught up in it very easily
That pink looks so amazing on you Amelia!
Thank you!
So happy that you are enjoying your bags! Love your collection, I can’t buy sooo many luxury handbags 👜 that I love so I really enjoy them through you! But you are right, we should be greatfull with what we have and enjoy them and not normalize buying every month those expensive handbags.
Thank you so much!!
Lol thank you so much!
Considered and brilliantly articulated 👉🏼 this video. 👏🏻 Also: damn those tempting Nano Alma's! 😏💚💜
Thank you my friend! And i can't get over that little thing!
Thank you for sharing, you are in good company around here!!
I think it’s important to reflect so that we can stay grounded but as you say it’s something you love and you shouldn’t apologise for it - to yourself or others. X
Thank you, sometimes i fall into the trap of apologising for it x
Ha ha decision fatigue…. Those peeps don’t love their pieces enough! I great to hear these reflections babe 💕
No decision fatigue here!!
Hi Amelia. I keep saying I need to take a break and I’m STRUGGLING!! My birthday is the end of this month so I have no more excuses to buy and spend. Let’s give this no buy another go!!
My ultimate goal is to have this problem lol! 😊
It sounds like it should be easy but it isn't!
Good luck and don't beat yourself up if you slip, be kind to yourself x
I’m in the same boat, I’ve not bought any luxury clothing or accessories since January. I’ve noticed I can live without the pieces & I can utilise the money for other things
Will you start again?
I totally agree with you!
thank you x
Now it's my turn to do so! 😂 🤭
Thank you! ❤
You’re welcome 😊
Great video, I went a bit mad this year and trying to pause till March when I go paris! And only planning 1 then and maybe another later in the year ! ❤
Oh that's a good incentive, that will be longer than i will manage!
@@ameliarosescloset well I’m going to try hard, there is a strap I’d like so maybe hold out till Christmas for that ❤️
Brava Amelia! Such great content. Thank you.
You're so welcome!
Congratulations!
Thank you!
I have the same problem with gold chains. There are chains I love and look real nice. But I can never wear them on a daily. The chain might be too heavy, too long, pendant getting in the way…
Chain lengths are one of the most difficult things!!
Thank you for sharing this x
Those lasting "feelings" that what l look for too 💜
At this price, they need to be!
Amelia hi and well done!I did the same and now I m enjoying more my existing bags!,be always well❤
That's fab!
I've tried to wait on purchases too, and when I actually pause and look again and also read reviews etc., I find my interest waning on certain bags or other things.
I was surprised only one was still on my
Mind
Thank you...
You're welcome!
I will follow your example, bring out all the bags that I own and try to create outfits to match them. I don't own many designer bags(3) but I have more bags than I need to be honest (no, I do not need 30😂) but I still feel tempted to buy more.
i don't need these and i am still tempted!
whilst 3 months is a good start; it s hardly an accomplishment. You're on the right track keep going, but don't fall into the trap of wow I did this ok now let me get back to my bad habits.
It is def only a start, i never intended not to buy another bag, but some reflection to slow down
I always think of that saying - there are no pockets in a shroud. It seems to me that you put aside money for essentials and the rest should be for what you enjoy. What does it matter if you buy things that turn out to be not what you thought they’d be? In the grand scheme of things, you can buy something else that fits better into your lifestyle.
Yes it is not the end of the world
A great video Amelia. Am I dreaming or did you take a break summer 2022 as well? If so would you make an annual thing?
I did, i forgot that!
I limit myself to how many I can own. The last bag was 8 months ago, and I am still loving it a lot. I need to let go of one now, before my Nov trip to Paris. ❤
Oh this os fabulous
Maybe you can do videos on how you style your handbags because you haves a such unique collection that I love with almost any neutrals and full of colors, so difficult yo find! You challenge me to use more colors in my life!!!
I love colour, i've had quite a few requests for this video
This was such a great video and thank you for sharing your experiences ❤️❤️❤️❤️
You are so welcome!
I refuse to count them up!
you are so wonderful it like me with coach I have to get it it season but then I do used it but it never wast you love it evern if never used it
Thank you
I stopped too. I get it.
I needed a pause, break the momentum
Same. I realized I was out of hand. Not wearing them. Wasting money. It’s really liberating.

A cultivated collection makes sense. We just love collecting. I collect everything, now it's watches since I have all the bags, shoes, the coats, hats, & fragrances I need. But I stop.after I have the variety I need. Now i need a cartier, omega , rolex, citizen and sieko watch and a moon phase watch 😅
Keep up the good work maybe you will find something else to collect. Watches are alot less expensive😅
My husband loves watches!
@ameliarosescloset they can cost as much as luxury bags. Cartier, rolex, omega even gran seiko, casio Longines just wow mY new obsession 😍 been binge watching how to start a collection with the right size watch and budget
I need to follow you with my makeup, jewelry and bags. Not luxury but still…..
Do it!
It was good you realised these didn't work when you could still take them back
If money wouldn't be an issue, i would have gone more than what you had. lol....Anyway for sure it is good to use what we have and take a pause and a step back. Curious which one you would let go. Do share with us. Certainly, buying handbags is a journey, we learned what works and what don't and this will also change as we are going thru different phase of life as we age. So updating your wardrobe is certainly a must not just for you but for everyone else.
I have realised what works for me is changing
How do you organize your money
Automated payments, separate accounts works for me
@@ameliarosescloset I have more than one account
But I don’t use it at all I only use my everyday account at one of the better accounts that BMO
If you don’t buy for a year….then you have one! Good Luck 😊
ahh i doubt i will reach a year!
Im def trying to get more intentional
I have so much free time now and so much money left 😂
Still no free time!
@@ameliarosescloset sounds like you are getting to a healthy balance for you. Sending hugs!
I really appreciate your honesty and admire you for raking a break. It’s actually not that easy to do. Your discipline is a great example to me.
Are you not worried about the cost of living?
Yes, i think most people should be and I have definitely made adjustments.
I still continue to shop handbags bc it's what I enjoy doing and I'm spending MY OWN money
So, if I choose NOT to consider cost per wear, oh well!
