every other game that doesn't have licencing makes the cars exactly the same car but a fake name and they get away with it, so I don't why Rockstar used to make their cars look like Chinese knockoffs, cool to see that they are building the cars almost exactly the same as the real life counterparts
i lowkey love the lore, how it acc feels like a different world
It's so they can have the ability to add different customizations.
No money in it. Rockstar stands to lose a lot, but its clear they know they have wiggle room to make em closer to real life models.

GTA cars are getting closer and closer to real life cars, back then they used to merge two or three cars together to make one for the game, up until 2019-2020 where they started making them a bit closer to real life, and now with this DLC as well as the the last two ones, we got vehicles that looks like exact copies with different small parts to make them lore friendly and to avoid copyright issues
This makes me so hyped to see GTA VI vehicles
They are getting facelift models

Copyright laws on cars have changed over the past few years, I think that’s the reason why R* makes less changes, and the most important part to remove the real brand to avoid lawsuits.
it also wouldn’t even surprise me if R* downloading car mods and just make a few changes to the cars to save time.
Literally what I was thinking as I was watching this. Personally I attribute these designs to Rockstar acquiring CFX. I think that team makes rockstars job so much easier. Basically cut their work load in half by doing that.

@@nouveaumanifesto thats fucking awesome. i havent played fivem in forever, and last i heard r* didnt love em, but was allowing them to exist for the sake of the community. a lot of talent there and im glad theyre finally utilizing it (and paying them lol)
I've noticed that rockstar tends to make more drastic changes to the ferarri's in game, and they make other cars more similar. I'm pretty sure it's because ferarri hands out cease and desists like candy

You can tell the devs that make these vehicles have been putting a lot of effort into getting as close as they can without violating copyright laws
More like they’re putting their work in GTA 6 and don’t put as much time into making their own cars as before. Before they made their cars let’s say from the ground up being inspired by 1, 2 or 3 real cars at the same time. Now they’re just like a replica with a couple different details 🤷🏼♂️

The real impala ss was in midnight club la soo probably they took the model as the base for the gta car to make it more acurate yet diferent at the same time

I’ve already said, I feel like Rockstar is taking HEAVY influence from the modding community and FiveM to consider what people actually like (except the Durango). It’s like someone had the bright idea to take the exact car models from 5mods, redesign/ugly them up just a little bit and put the copy and paste interior, wheels and engine detail into them so that it’s looks like a regular GTA car and have customizations that make it look closer to the real car.. and the customizations are probably parts they removed off the real model in Zmodeler or whatever software they use to make vehicles

I love the Durango. I think plain/basic everyday cars are much more exciting than the super cars/sports cars because they’re way over hyped
I like the era of the Osiris and T20, where the cars don't resemble any car exactly but they are pretty beautiful, there's more effort and creativity put back then which I enjoyed

Osiris was an ugly ass Pagani knock off. That car looks like shit. I was hella upset back in 2015 when it was released. Rockstar needs to keep doing what they doing n keep making them look like the real life version 👍🏽

GTA cars now are less fancy, but more realistic looking, i think that’s fair ngl, but i still loved the idea of Rockstar Games mixing irl cars tbh

I did too in all honesty. It made the games world feel more unique. There Are a few gta cars I like more than their irl counterparts. The cheburek, vectre, pigalle.

I prefer R* maintaining it's ability to make it's own version rather than fixating on copying cars perfectly. This isn't Forza and it allows them to add their own spin/customization options. I also like the unique names and funny parodies in the descriptions

They are taking real life models and tweaking them a bit to avoid copyright and trademark issues, they’ve been doing this for years
Rockstar lost all their creativity, they don't even give original names for the cars anymore, always are names from cars that already are in the game with 2 or 3 letters in the end, now not even the designs are original, like it always had been since GTA 1 maybe
People when rockstar made their old cars their own way: rockstar needs to make their cars look more realistic rockstar when they do that: rockstar has lost all their creativity
The front end of the GTA Durango is closer to the front end of the Chrysler Aspen, which was the upperscale twin to the Durango.
I think the lore friendly explanation is that the GTA car shares headlights with the Bravado Bison like the Durango shared headlights with the Dakota

12:50 Rockstar is definitely working on the interiors if you look at the Tulip that was in the GTA VI trailer (precisely at the 1 minute mark) it has a much more detailed interior compared to the one in GTA V.

It really Obvious of how rockstar has avoided copyrights and the parody law. I like how on the Ferrari they made a less obvious copy because of how strict Ferrari is. Also the Jeep with the grille if they would have put the vertical lines it’d no longer be a parody
This makes me wonder if with GTA 6 will Rockstar do this with every car in that game? Because I've been a fan of the more recent car models that resemble the irl car compared to how they used to combine bits and pieces of other cars. Definitely more work on their end but that'd be so cool to see an almost real life looking fleet of vehicles in the next GTA.
Yeah in the trailer cars are way closer, that’s why some of these dlc cars don’t really make sense they’re just adding them to gta 5 as a teaser it seems like

if i remember right the law states that there only needs to be a 15% difference between the real thing and whats in game for it to not be suable basically. so as long as 15% or more on the car is different from the real life car then rockstar is perfectly safe and has nothing to worry about.
Car companies are the dubest creatures ever (more than animals actuallly) r* and gta are so popular that they can advertise their cars they willl eventuallly gain a lot of money

What make you think they scan the real cars? Rockstar could been modeling them from scratch using 3D software.
I’ve had a G35 for almost 6 years now and you don’t know how hyped I was to see the FR36. It’s crazy because even the way the sunlight reflects off the body line near the headlight/grille on the bumper is exactly how it does in real life. The projector headlights on the FR36 are also almost identical to the 05+ G35 coupe, the one you showed was a non-hid 03-04 model.
I think these cars are in gta 6 they just threw some into gta 5 because they are focusing on gta 6 more. Thats why the cars are similar to real life because gta 6 will have things that are more realistic.

The reason for the GTA versions being sharper has to do with reduced polygons. What is the point of having a perfect copy with 2 million polygons that makes the game run at 10 fps when with a little work you can have one that is 200,000 slightly sharper edges and doesn't affect game play.

Wish Rockstar would put the effort into creating more realistic interiors, too. The Enus Jubilee was a disgrace, for example.
They're probably doing that for gta 6 ,the tulip in the gta 6 trailer and the one in gtao have completely different interiors

You’re so right dude I’m dead serious right now. I literally thought the GTA car was the actual impala and the real impala was the GTA car.
They screwed up the back wheels on the Dominator GT and I don't know why they don't allow you to adjust the axle or even wheel sizes in LA customs. Every wheel I put on the Dominator GT looks too small and the axle looks like it is set forward too much.
Those cars are very similar to the real ones because it is very likely that they are cars that are going to appear in GTA 6

its cause they realized that people are willing to pay up for cars they like IRL.. also more cars to pump out without merging 2-3 separate ones.
My guess for the a bit older cars is that they use a lot of the models from the midnight club games, refurbish them a bit and edit them to fit for gta, might be totally wrong tho. I´m only guessing.

I would create cars that are primarily based on real life cars from my imagination and draw them. But I wouldn't make them obviously based on real life cars like Rockstar.

The sad reality is, they actually update the Baller very very often. It's the real life Range Rovers that change very little. So RS keeps adding more in that look identical as a parody making fun of them.

Yeah, I’ve noticed that overtime since 2013 the gta 5 cars and gta online cars are being modeled to be more like their real life counterparts than fake cars- (possibly being taken from gta 6?) which I have mixed feelings about
On one hand, they’re almost satisfying the people who always ask for real life cars and its gonna look even more realistic in the 2025 build of gta 6
And on the other hand i feel as though it kinda removes the charm of the fake cars the used to base off the real life counterparts.
I’ve only noticed this when i saw the cannis terminus, looking like a real life jeep and somehow getting away with it.
But I’m positive about it as I love seeing their progression.
R* began cloning cars around the Nightclub DLC. i think this is also where they began putting more time into GTA6. so from then on, i assume they have back ported as many cars as they could and probably will continue until the very end of GTA5 Online.
On the durango, the bump in the roof is to give back passengers more head room (I have a 01 durango)
There's a modern Impala seen in the VI leaks that is also VERY close to it's real life counterpart, it's insane.
Also, have no doubt, most of these newer DLC vehicles are backported from GTA 6 for sure. We will most likely see most, if not all of these with higher quality models and proper interiors in GTA VI. This goes way back at least a few years, too.
I mean when you watch certain commercials and shows they just block out the badges on the cars to avoid copyright and nothing else so it makes sense for rockstar to do this

Rockstar bought five m. it would make a lot of sense if they take some model builds and make them more gta safe.
These cars are most likely back ported from GTA 6, that would explain why they are so detailed.
the thing is, all of these cars, the new expedition especially, are all lore friendly mods on GTA5mods. GTA bought FiveM to have access to the modding community. they didnt make them.

A video with an interesting idea, and the developer began to add models that are partially or minimally different from the real ones even when an update called Import and Export was released, then it became obvious that in the future models almost copies of the real ones would be added, from then to this day they are adding different models but the quality of the details is getting better and better every time. And now you can understand how detailed the transport models will be in the next part of GTA
The car companies that are bankrupt (DeLorean, Oldsmobile, Pontiac) I think R* are literally copying their entire design layout to an exact copy version. As they already done it with the Deluxo for instance.
The reason behind this is simple. Modding community. 75% of a car mod's purpose is matching the game's car to the actual IRL model. Maybe Rockstar realized this in the past few years and decided to actually put IRL models without the real life brands, to maybe, just MAYBE.. limit and reduce the need for these real life cars mods.

honestly the Dorado looks a little different because i think it may be a mix between the 1st gen and 2nd gen Durango.
Edit, I just realized they already have a 3rd gen, it's the Gresley. Weird they had to pick a new name that sounds more similar. Lazy oversight or maybe poor choice for lore

they arent using the models from gta5mods, theyre just using the real life blueprints of the cars to model them

IMO, I think it's good idea to make GTA cars almost exactly the same as real-life cars ( about 95 percent ) instead of using 2 models of real-life cars for one car in GTA. For example, truffade thrax is based on Bugatti Divo but the rear is based on Italdesign Zerouno ( which is zorrusso in gta ). I really like Obey 10F more than real life.
Another problem is with the engine sound of cars.
Some of the engine sounds don't really suit some cars in GTA ( correct me if I have grammar mistake ). Like Obey 10F. It should have an engine sound like T20 or Nero.
If you look at the Escalade V they are identical
for everyone who doesn't understand yet… is that we are getting the cars from GTA 6 in GTA ONLINE, and likewise with the weapons so we might see the Glock 18C pistol in automatic again instead of the ass AP pistol 🤢

Carx drift uses identical features for every car but changes the name. It doesn’t matter.
Is great, that means the rage engine can really compete with arcade racing games with GTA with zero licensing needed to replicate it. Overtime as PC becoming more powerful, interior is probably their next thing to refine.
I'm actually not a fan of this. I loved GTA cars specifically because they were refreshing and creative original creations, where the best aspects of multiple cars were mashed together to create something new and pretty.
