    The way you broke this down was much better than how I was taught. You explained it in a way I could understand, and now I feel confident in ace-ing my test tomorrow. I only got 46% on my first try, and luckily I have a chance at a retest tomorrow. 100% here I come!

    For the last problem, the textbook (Stewart, Early Transcendentals, 7th edition) says limit does not exist. (problem nr 45, chapter 2.3 ). They say it doesn't exist, because the denominator cannot go to zero while the nominator does not. But when I graph it with wolfram, it does go to negative infinity. My math tutor says that it doesn't exist because the items in the bracket cancel out each other. Why is the inconsistency?

  • @patrickjmt

    if the left hand limit and right hand limit are not the same, the limit does not exist. a limit can not have two different values.

    Does anybody know where there is a video of limits approaching infinity with absolute values????

    • @vanh0ek
      @vanh0ek 9 лет назад +3

      +Max Boucher you can just basically use this method to remove the absolute values first, then once you have no abs value "signs" in your function, follow the videos of limits approaching infinity step by step.

    lim 2x-1/2x^3-x^2
    x->0.5^- (from the left)
    the book solves it by first solving l2x-1l setting it to 2x-1 > or equal to 0 and 2x-1

    Thank you very much for this free tutoring!!! Its a good refresher and slightly more descriptive than I learned in class. I always thought of the sign function for absolute values but never related 'x' as the function in the absolute value tern, this insight has helped immensely. Thank you and keep it up!!
