Best 44T film yet. The Man The Legend The Presence that is Mr James Holland Esq. You introduced us to him and what a pleasure its been. Been around the block and toyed with life. Thankyou 44T
James has been about a lot longer than that mate. Have a read of some 90's mags and he or JHS are mentioned in quite a few of them. I met him at a track day way back when and all thats changed is he went grey and got fatter. Just like me.
@@paulwood7798 It was a brilliant time in the biking world. I feel genuinely sorry for people who missed it. I remember when the first Fireblade came out and it caused a massive stir. Back then the average car was an 80-90hp Sierra/Cavalier so a 185kg (dry-granted) bike that could make over 130hp with the usual bolt ons was like something from another planet. It also felt like something special. Now the bikes are much better but a lot of them have lost that special feeling. Things like the ZX-9R, 916, R1 and so on all had their little traits which made them very different to ride. These days even though there are loads of different engines and makers they all have a certain sheen which seems to numb down their real character. I wouldn't go as far as to say they're boring but they do feel very generic in the way they behave. Its almost as though someone came up with limits for how fast the front can come up or how much it can try to tank slap. I admit it could well be rose tinted goggles but for me there are very few new bikes which make me feel special (1290R, Rocket, RSV4-11) where as back then you could get on most big bikes and they would give you the buzz.
Absolutely love the JHS parts of the budget bike battles. James is such a treasure, has banter to keep up with the best of them, but clearly takes his work seriously.
I never realized how much stuff James has been through in his life and seeing him up and about, happy as always, working hard.. it's incredible. Such amazing resilience.
Only James could amalgamate the words 'clumpy' and 'cumbersome' (19:56) and not bat an eyelid ..... love it, Thank you for this tiny 'window' on James and his life.
Awsome James, been to JHS once and so helpful. He’s a legend, for years I thought someone else owned JHS then it clicked this guy is a hard working man and one of the best. Awsome to do this video thanks Al 👍
I have popped into JHS numerous times, I've had the piss taken a lot but I've never been treated like an idiot even when I deserve it... James is a fountain of knowledge and is always willing to give his best advice... James and Will have built me an engine that missed 2nd in Thundersport this year by a point, all done without splitting the cases... James is how you hope everyone in the motorcycle business to be, unfortunately the vast majority of bike shops are just chasing money..
As a fitter/turner and old school motorcycle mechanic all my adult life, just turned 60, i can totally relate to James. Proper bloke. Proper geezer. Leaving machine tools untidy and not cleaned would DO MY F##KING HEAD IN. Best 44T in a long while, cheers.
"I remember every single bump in the ambulance." I'm half smiling/cringing/laughing remembering every gap in the Tampa, FL expressway during my "Uber" with sirens. Bless ya man, the emotional stuff was tougher than relearning to walk although you take the cake for carnage!
I could listen to James all day. What a legend. Great to hear his insight into his crash and it’s effects. As much as we all love to piss about on the bikes it’s a great reminder to listen to yourself on the roads. If you don’t feel like pushing, don’t. Great video!!
James . You are an inspiration for all of us. Please believe that you make a difference all over the world. I am a fellow mechanic. And understand the love and the hate of it all. Thank you for being you. Cheers Scotte
I love hearing from people who have real experience of life and have a passion for what they do. Everybody at 44 demonstrates this in every video that we do, thank you for keeping us entertained
What a lovely soul James is. Always a treat when he's on an episode. I've often thought there's a lot more going on with James than he lets on. It's always been clear to me that there's some battles happening there, and I can attest to "not being the same person" after a catastrophic injury that leaves you not quite right. Always positive and looking onwards and upwards. Stay strong!
Workshops like this are a dying breed. James has built a mini empire on his obvious knowledge and experience and above all just being a down to earth sort of guy. I’d gladly send some money/support their way. Is there any talk of a JHS merch line coming???
This was amazing! Great interview, proper stuff. I've always liked James, this was a great way to let us all get to know him better. I'm sure we all love him more because of this.
You guys are making some really great content. Someone uninterested in bikes but fond of the human condition would enjoy such a well shot and edited tale, helped by the charisma of the bloke himself of course. Pats on the back all round.
Bravo 44T, James and men like him in motorcycling are gold, unsung hero's that make a world of difference with knowledge and experience you just can't buy. Recently built up a SV650 track bike, no doubt under the influence of 44T and James, what a giant killer, huge fun for the money.
Hellz yeah!!! To cold to ride here in kansas, im out in the shop drinking a few beers, working on reviving a 1994 cbrf2, have some maintenance to do on my zed900rs cafe, & watching this, LIFE IS GOOD!
One of the best 44teeth films so far. Really interesting, funny and thought provoking. Who wouldn't want to work with James? You'd have a right laugh, Nige 😀
James is some man, many people could learn from him, he took it on the chin and didnt hold anyone accountable, and he didnt let it change him , he continues to be a nice and humble person, top bloke👍 world could do with more people like minded like him, felt so bad about what happened but glad he's still in this world ,that were lucky enough to watch his repairs and his funny antics....
Top bloke! A bike enthusiast's life, lived to the full:- warts (pasties?) an' all! Thanks very much for making this. All the best to the whole 44T team.
Gotta love James Holland, decent proper bloke, who has lived a life worth living, you can feel his physical and mental struggle in this video, brilliant interview technique by Statham, giving James time to talk, expand and elaborate. I wish him and his family all the very best in 2021🏆🙂👍
Great video it reminds me of Bike shop I raced out of. It was the local racer hangout, most rushing on Thursday night to fix their bike from the last race (usually 2 weeks before) at the last minute for this weekends race. unfortunately it closed after 2 back to back recessions in the mid 1990's. Those shops are rare these days.
I had the privilege of spending a few hours with James at Mission Raceway in BC, Canada, when he was helping a friend work out a Gladius race bike. Despite me being basically in the way, he was patient and funny, full of stories. Without people like James, racing is a lot less interesting. Glad to see him in the spotlight and get the credit due...
Every town needs a James. Unfortunately there's not enough good bike workshops these days. The best one we had in Kent was Tag Racing but they shut up shop this year. For the sake of everyone in his area, I hope James stays fit and healthy for years to come and Covid doesn't bugger up his business.
@@jamsstar2010 Oh really? I knew they did cars but no idea about bikes?.... We really are lacking in good, independent garages. I wouldn't use Laguna's if you paid me to!
I got to meet James at JHS the same time I met Chris and Al - I was sat waiting for my 899 to have a suspension setup (so worth it), and the two came in. Pre-Chris-face days, but knew the voices from 44t/bvg and Al from FB reading :) Top class all of them.
Really interesting to listen to. I get the mental side completely after a big off like that; I was in Frenchay in 2002, touch & go for a week in intensive care. I can’t ride a bike anymore and they were my life. It takes some adjusting to and I miss bikes every day. Good on you James for doing what you do.
I love him,hes such a character James Holland. So humble and if I ever beed something done on my bike in UK id go there just for the opportunity to meet James😀😀
I love this bloke.. he is so genuine and honest.. tells it how it is. Thankyou 44T for sharing his story.. I'd love to give him my bandit 1250 with an unlimited money supply
That was a great vid, very knowledgeable man could listen to the stories all day and I bet he would not tell the same one twice. More like this mate fantastic
That was a brilliant and completely different type of film. Loved it. James is a very clever and interesting bloke. Maybe you could do a pre-planned Q&A Surgery where people message in to "Ask James" Legend, and a top top bloke to boot.
Great documentary on James's passion and life for bikes. Down to earth cool dude. If I could afford it I would have him warm over my 3rd gen SV 650 engine. Shipping would be crazy from the US:) Great vid from 44 T!
Great Video, nice filming, was a pleasure to watch, thanks. I to have a similar skin graft on my left knee, that looks almost the same it has now fused to the bone, that looks almost the same . I am now recovering from a compound fracture of my Tib and Fib, with a metal rod and screws, a car was nice enough to pull out without looking
James is my favourite 44-teeth extended universe character. Second place is shared by statham and sue.
When he dove head first in that rubbish bin I bout fell out me chair! Love that guy!!
😂❤️
i agree we need more of this goofy englishman

I completely agree. Great to learn more about the shop and the man!
Long over due James is endlessly interesting. Everyone loves him.
What a legend. He’s probably forgot more than the rest us know.
That was wicked tribute/interview. A nice interlude to regular broadcasting :)
Absolutely love the JHS parts of the budget bike battles. James is such a treasure, has banter to keep up with the best of them, but clearly takes his work seriously.
James is my favorite. He keeps it realistic, stays humble and yet has a great sense of humor.
Amazing overview and story. The SV will always remain close to the heart.
