Lyrics:
This version makes me feel like I'm slowly sinking to the bottom of the pool on a cruise ship
While the band plays poolside
Modern day Gatsby vibes

Why on a cruise ship...
@@eggchin9721Cruise ships are microsocieties disconnected from the outside world with the image of a utopia. On the outside, they are beautiful. Look inside, and you see the crumbling facade of false opulence and freedom a cruise ship gets you. When you hear this version of Girl from Ipanema, it's lofi vibe and dreamy aesthetic lean heavily into a dreamy and liminal space of expression that is almost haunting. The idea of listening to a track that, on the outside is beautiful and tranquil, but has signs of something off deeper within, while on a cruise ship, which exhibits similar qualities, is fitting. Pair that with the beautiful visuals of Ipanema that one might see from a cruise ship, but never reach, and the whole point of bossa nova as protest music to the regulation of art, and it becomes possible to see the correlation between drowning in a cruise ship pool and this track.
My interpretation, anyways.
i dont care what jazzists say but for me this is the most beautiful version
nah bro trust me the people who really like bossa nova like this.
I dont know man, the version she did on her own channel is fucking amazing
Her singing is more true to the original in her version, but the stereo imaging and FX processing, mixed with the mood it sets as a "liminal" sound in this one is more enticing to listen to, at least in a studio environment. It's wider, the bass is larger and warmer, the transitions and ambience bring more energy changes, and the aesthetic mixes together the classical sound with more modern electronic and "lofi". So, it serves a different purpose for the listener, one that seems to inspire "disassociation" from reality, as many of the comments seem to echo. If this was the purpose of the style or not is up to the artist's interpretation, but considering the history of Bossa Nova, disassociation or liminality fit a more dystopian mood that could be argued was occurring in Brazil at the time.
Edit: her version is very nice, she has an amazing voice, I don't want to take away from that
I've listened soo many times, it's like a haunting color you only saw in some dream
Yea I’d say the best versions are this one, the getz/Gilberto version, and frank Sinatra’s version
something about this version conjures the same vibes as everywhere at the end of time.
No no no, you got it all wrong. *That* is existential dread, this is just chill and good vibes
@@tyffis9525 this kinda has the ‘pretty chill but there seems to be an uncanny layer of existential dread laying just below the surface’ kinda vibe y’know?
@@aaaaaaaaqiqi Exactly
This will be featured in movies and TV series soon. It's perfect for a sci-fi flick.
Sci fi or dystopian for sure
100% can see this in the background as some gnarly shit is going down.
Martina's voice is ethereal and perfectly dreamy and resets my personal standard for how this song should sound. Terrific!
I am both frightened and relaxed.
This song sounds kind of happy in an uncanny way.
Very inspiring…
I work a lot with 2000’s nostalgic surrealism in my art and this song kind of fits, hmm…
Love it.
im getting goosebumbs from the way the first ‘ahh’ has that breathy effect to it i dont even know how to describe it 😭
This is a haunting version, but I love it 😁
With this version out on youtube, I wonder how there’s still a market for psychedelic drugs. It renders them utterly redundant. 😉
he says the harmony at the bridge is haunting and then somehow manages to actually make it sound creepy
Producers: "I don't use too much RC-20"

What is rc-20?
@@ajarofmayonnaise3250 It's what creates that slightly off-putting wavy effect.

This version of the song inspired me to start learning both Portuguese and Spanish. Thanks Martina and Adam!
falo português se quiser aprender com um nativo é só falar
How's that going so far? Been thinking of learning a new language, lose motivation a lot though lol

It’s a bass solo right? Jesus Christ it’s literally my favorite solo of alll time rn

I am proud to have this international sound marked by the sonorous winds of my country!

Although I really like this (in particular because Martina is pure genius), what I wish and my heart longs for is you playing the Ribeiro accompaniment alongside her singing (like you did in parts of the explanatory video)... that would bring it all together imho. So if that is sitting somewhere... please please...
This is a good haunted version of the song.
This is the waiting music for the lobby of hell!
You mean the purgatory?
@@ferenccseh4037 if you want to get technical, yes.
Why hell lmao
Yes , so eery
@@kiki9791 it's eery in a weirdly whimsical way. Like the same vibe as that show Billy and Mandy or whatever it's called. At least to me.
The scrambled cover art sitting there through the whole song is quite disturbing.
Close your eyes.
By far the most beautiful version of the song.
We were all waiting for this. Thank you!
I need an instrumental version of this
Thanks so much for this intelligent, sensitive approach... Bravissimo!
Vraiment magnifique. j'aime beaucoup cette chanson.
Moi aussi
Simply the best interpretation I have heard---thank you for this gift!
Good morning everyone, forgive me Im a little low in my coffee intake for the moment so please bear with me. My name is Doctor Millar and today we're talking about SCP 4421 - aka The Girl from Ipanema - Which is in fact traditionally considered a safe class SCP that we've all heard about so I can imagine why most S3s are wondering why they're here....
Just can't stop listening it over n over...gush...
You are not alone, amigo
Great cover 🔥🔥🔥🔥
This must be Heaven's waiting room.
Just lovely
Me encanta porque mantiene toda la esencia de la canción original

Señor Neely, this analysis is highly valuable, it must be boosted, re-launched, "refreshed". 👍
Perhaps if you would critique (harshly is understandable, ha ha) the original *arrangements* of this song that many of us humble musicians have envisioned.
Muchas gracias, señor.
This makes me feel like im dead and feel like my soul is leaving my body
Love this version!
Thanks
Its zooming in right? Right?!
I see it too!
Can't unsee it now

Voce e Brasileira?
ela é filha de brasileiras mas nascida no exterior, por isso o sotaque sutilmente estranho. combina com o arranjo né
Sounds something you'd hear in The Back Rooms. Familiar yet....off. While being followed by a female figure with long black hair, but a speaker for a face. Never getting too close, but never far enough to not hear.
Very well played and sung, but it sounds a bit too drunk with that boat load of dsp tremolo...
This one sounds scary 😳
