So far, I've heard about mental palaces and mnemonics but they don't seem appropriate for long term and not that appropriate for languages.

How long of a spacing should it be? in hours? days? or till when I don't think about it anymore and then try to access that information again?
As far as I know a 1 day gap (overnight) usually leads to the best results.
