    Every time I see a table tennis compilation I'm struck by how hilarating is Adam's commenting, oh god, he's amazing. "Not only did he knock on the door, he walked right through it and took all the candy" lol

    This is the pinnacle of eye-hand-foot coordination. In less than a second the eye has to judge the flight of the ball including direction speed and spin and calculate an interception point and a response; the feet have to bring you to the interception point, and in order to gain momentum the arm has already started it's calculated swing before even arriving at that point. All in the space of a second or less. Just mindblowingly awesome.

      Well, he got plenty of coaching over the years, and he trains with professionals and fully competent sparring partners. There's only so much a coach can do with that style, you basically just have to let him go out do his thing.

      You assign less work to other people (and insinuate less dementia) by complaining that that the title should have been "CRAZIEST Pennis Pong Points of 2025". But RUclips titles don't permit much nuance in the realm of full disclosure, and my revised title might inadvertently attract a different audience, so the title is left more bland, and the user is trusted to figure out that no one is being forgotten, after all.
      Alternative approach:
      Unbelievable points! I would love to see you do a similar video for women's table tennis. Just for starters, Sun Yingsha vs Wang Manyu in the world championship final alone had a few minutes worth of mad highlights. Great work!

    2025 was Hugo Calderano’s year.
    What he achieved in Macau is historic: winning a world title against the Chinese, on their home soil, in the heart of table tennis.
    That’s not just a victory - it’s something only truly exceptional athletes can do.

    Can someone, ANYONE, tell me why if the guy lobs it to you standing 10 ft back that you hit it hard and right back to them instead of just tapping it to get a bounce on their side???? Why do they continue to hit it right back directly to the opponent????

    • @turbozed
      @turbozed 2 months ago +6

      The ball has an insane amount of spin. If you just tap it it'll go flying out long. You have to basically chop down on it off the bounce and the window for doing that is a few milliseconds. It's way easier and safer to just put full power into counter spinning it. When you got the guy backed up all he can do is defend. You waste a great position trying to make a low percentage trick shot by trying to drop it short.
