I have the Minifly. Love it!!!! Perfect 3 season tarp. Been through some crazy storms with it, stayed dry as a bone. Pitch it really low in inclement weather. Have a bigger, heavier tarp for deep winter trips but use the Mini for everything else.
Yep. Love mini fly. Used it in all kinds of storms. I do prefer my Superfly when the weather is windy and the temps are below freezing. Otherwise its the minifly for 98% of my year round 4 season backpacking.
Picked a bad time to go through puberty. 🤣 I'm one of the ones who asked about the tarp last video. It just didn't quite look like a standard Mini- or Mountain Fly to me for some reason. I thought maybe it was a custom job. WB is one of the great cottage industry makers who spoil us with amazing gear. Stay well.
Hello my friend, I just purchased a starter camping hammock set up. If I like hammock camping, I will upgrade. That is a very nice tarp. Take Care and Keep Exploring The Outdoors.
I have the 13' Thunderfly. Was thinking of getting the Mountain Fly for winter season. Had a few nights with rain in my Ridge Runner. I've tried the Thunderfly and a UGQ Winterdream 12' and sacrificing the end suspension coverage for fuller doors on the UGQ. Had a little trouble seam sealing the pullouts on the Thunderfly. I still have a weeping stitch hole on two pullouts. Doing the duck to get under the rainfly takes some practice before I was comfortable with it.
Just the video I have been waiting for...looking for a good tarp...will have to some research as to how it fits my budget...great review and thanks tremendously...
I love my WBO tarps. I have 2. I have an 11' Thunderfly for use with my gathered end hammock (Dutch Chameleon), and a 13' Mountainfly for use with my bridge hammock (Dutch Banyan). Both are 20D silpoly. Great tarps. Love them both.
@@MidwestBackpacker It's what I use with my bridge. Works great. Covers the dog bones well and provides plenty of room underneath. Edit: I use a 13' Mountainfly and it's great. My 11' is a Thunderfly and a 13' version of that tarp would work well for a bridge too. I don't remember why I went with the Mountainfly for my 13' tarp over the Thunderfly, but either will work.
Nice! I'm still using my old Edge Tarp from Warbonnet since I started using a hammock in 2015. I would like to do a hammock camping trip with you someday. It would be cool to see our hammock setups.
alot of people let ego judge, they want the most expensive. Is it better? My needs and use, it is not better enough to justify cost. $145 is not cheap and will work fine for me.
Thanks for the review. Do you think that tarp is big enough that you could fit two camp chairs under it, along with a gathered end hammock while in porch mode?
Negative, The perfect tarp would use Nano technology that would allow it to change shape, color, and size automatically depending on weather conditions and would be able to fold itself into a 1in. by 1in. square and fit into your pocket 🤣
I have the Minifly.

Hey, French guy here! Came here thanks to your friend the marine (from backpacking with a hammock) - happy !
You guys hang in there!
Love the bloopers! You might convince me to hang in the trees one day.
Great video! Love my War Bonnet RR and 13 ft. Superfly!

I like your tarp a lot!! It’s a good one.
Those outtakes at the end😂😂
Great video. Nice overview.
Loved the bloopers. 😂

How do you think a 13’ thunderfly would work on a bridge hammock?

If you could only choose one of the Warbonnet’s which would you get?

Mine shows up tomorrow. I’ve had a thunderfly for a while. It’s a nice tarp too. You wouldn’t be disappointed.
Thinking of getting one of these. Any suggestions on which?
@@cdegenova1761 the mountainfly with the center pole mod is the best tarp I’ve ever used.

great review! im looking for a new tarp and have to choose between the mountainfly und thunderfly. what colour is yours? cheers
Puberty sucks my friend. 😂 😆 😝. Seriously, that’s a pretty awesome tarp you have. Too bad you can’t use it on our next trip.
Do you use the panel pull-outs with the Mountainfly? If so, how do you rig it? Do you use an interior center pole instead?
Gahhhh why'd you show me this?? Now i wanna spend my next paycheck on this!!! 😂
Sorry! 😂
Where did you get the poles for the panel pulls? Didn't see poles like that on the Warbonnet website.

@@MidwestBackpacker Excellent. Are they a good length for your setup? Wondering about the wider pitch to accommodate the bridge hammock.
Thanks for the review. Do you think that tarp is big enough that you could fit two camp chairs under it, along with a gathered end hammock while in porch mode?
If they are smaller camp chairs like a Chair Zero. Yes.
@@MidwestBackpacker Actually, that's exactly what I'm talking about LOL -thanks
Question, how well does that silpoly deal with water absorption? Does it get much heavier or take a long time to dry out?
It does not soak in or stretch as much as silnylon. I just got a silnylon Thunderfly and will be comparing them. It hasn’t rained on the new one yet.
Warbonnet says they no longer offer the pole mods on each end, only a center pole mod.
Any advice on what length poles to DIY for my Thunderfly?
Yur gonna have me buying a hammock god damn it lol
That’s the best way to go on the SHT!
Hey, French guy here - backpacking in a hammock is amazing :) Try it!
To me, the perfect tarp would be a dyneema Thunderfly.
Agreed but $$$.
How about weight without stake and guy-line
I permanently tie my guy lines to my tarps. Sorry. I Believe their website will tell
You.
