My accessorization post-purchase: ergonomic grips, hinge-clamps that don't swivel when undone, a rear-light that attaches to the saddle, an _affordable_ toolkit [ie not the overpriced Brompton one], a quality bell, a Garmin Edge Touring. Also, a rear-rack as I later found I should have gone for that option when ordering - I also wish I'd opted for a 6-speed rather than 3.

Bought a couple of Bromptons at Evans online for our holiday. Left 3 weeks to plan and thought that was enough time to buy a bike labeled in stock and in warehouse, pick up max 10 days. Right, bike due in no more than 10 days. With no prior notice on day of pick up we find the bike is delayed a month!! Holiday ruined? No we have time to find another bike so refund? No Evans assure us they have the same bike elsewhere that can be picked up in 3 days. 3 days pass and the store holding our bikes closes for renovations.. not open again for a week! Evans customer service advise we call stores in neighboring towns to see if they have the same bikes. They do!! Great pick up tomorrow. Great!! We drive 1 hour to get to the store. Bikes have not arrived and are not scheduled to. Holiday plans ruined. Angry call to customer service, this time I demand to talk to the top. I explain my experience, she pulls the strings and we can pick up the first order at the local store.. they will allow the bikes to be handed out even though the store is closed. Great.. all sorted at literally the last minute... and a gift card to say sorry.
Update: They can stick their gift voucher where the sun doesn't shine! We arrive at our destination after the mad rush to get the bikes, flustered to say the least. unpack the bikes and they are damaged with critical parts missing!! There is no sign of damage on the packaging and the kind of damage sustained required quite a crash that would have destroyed packaging. the damage was not described at purchase... this is a surprise! how will Evans address this? Ans they will not. They claim the bikes where checked and checked on collect. This is simply not true. and obviously so.. how could they have checked the bikes and yet missed the crucial components required for the bikes to unfold? I am taking this to trading standards.. this has been a nightmare. Don't risk it at Evans cycles.. they are rotten to the core!

Some additional things worth pointing out the the features covered.
The Brompton baggage system’s most useful feature imo is that the weight is stationary on the bike and does not move when the handlebars are turned. I carry up to 20k in it with little effect on handling apart from firmer braking. In addition you do not have to use their expensive bags. I have 2 of them but in addition i have spare carrier frames. One of these has a travelling crate for a 10k Dog which works very well. The other has a work/tote bag that cost £35 from Aldi and is superb for applications and is far more useful thsn the £130 C bag.
    As for saddles.....
I have several Bromptons (for 2 bikes), some different cheapies from Aldi and the ultimate in ‘pimping’ your ride..........a Brookes of course😉
As for the tool-kit, i have one between 2 bikes (as they are £50) - in addition to what has been mentioned one of the rubber ends, the non-spanner one, is magnetised so you can find or locate ferrous items👍🏻

Really, a choice of luggage and different colours!
I expected the video to have something more credible to offer.

Hey, Toby or anyone have impressions on Ti Atom Model S all titanium bicycles? Even the frame is titanium.
I'm just wondering if we're willing to do the fork and rear triangle as titanium,
why not the main frame too ❓🚴🏻‍♀️🚳

How about an update? I'm particularly interested in replacing the standard rubber grips on my Brompton M bar. I fancy the Ergon GP1, but the information on this is confusing and mostly refers to the S bar or to M bar installation before the slight modification to the M bar in 2017. My machine is 2018 and there's very little to refer to on the web. My main concern about the change is, do you still need to cut the grip to make it fit on the modified post-2017 M bar?

i wish brompton's drive train could be upgraded with shimano or sram components .. it's present setup (at least to me) seems insufficient on climbs .. or maybe because the bike was not designed for that .. just saying

    Good day sir.
Please help me. I am intending to start cycling as a New Years resolution in order to get fit. I want to buy an endurance road bike as I think it will best suit me. Due to my budget and because I am only a beginner, I want to buy an aluminum bike.
Could you please tell me which names I should be looking for as a good road bike. I want a bike with a good groupset, shimano 105 and up... please help me sir

2016 video pub. Don't you think it's about time to do an update, particularly since this 5 mins of viewing is almost a waste of time with what you are offering!

Why would you accessorise with the velcro handle- the saddle is designed by Brompton to be the handle! It is perfectly balanced and even has finger grips. You'd be a fool to pay money for an accessory that is less practical than what is already installed!

    • @mikhailman
      @mikhailman 6 лет назад +4

You buy the handle if you change the seat. I, for instance love Brooks C13-C17 seats. But they are not designed to carry the load of the bike on the edge of the seat, so the handle becomes a worthy investment.

There are websites, forums, videos, guides and books which show how to do virtually everything to your Brompton bicycle, the majority of which can be accessed free of charge!
There is a great deal of satisfaction to be had from understanding your bicycle and doing work on it yourself, then there is the huge financial benefit of not paying a complete stranger to work on your bike!
Some bicycle workshops have facilities for customers to come in and hire a workstand and all the tools necessary to carry out any required work.
The bicycle is a very simple device comprising of very simple components making up its assembly, by definition, it is therefore easy to see how it goes together.
Why pay someone to do work that you will enjoy doing and gain satisfaction from having completed?

@@felixcat9318 the reason it's expensive is because Brompton make there own proprietary shite they sell at an upmarket price. They artificially create there price tag by making all the parts lol.

@@fuddle128260394 Brompton prices for new bikes are very high, so it isn't a surprise that their own parts may also be expensive.
However, consumables are not proprietary and should be easy to source at competitive prices, and the majority of riders will only ever need to work on these parts.
