I'm so sad ;w; I was so happy when I discovered your video, just to see it doesn't work anymore for reason~ I hope it's only a bug for now and that it will be solved
Oh! This is huge! I have a Vulture which I hate flying to NB to sell RMC from. I have long dreamed of storing them at a hub, and then using my C1 to do the selling. But loading multiple Vulture loads of 1 SCU boxes to the C1 was a chore on the PTU. This changes everything. Thanks for sharing this!
@@tigerlover1113 About SCU Sizes! In the Video shown six of 1 Size SCUs store in the 8 SCU. So eight 1 SCU = one 8 SCU 16 SCU = two 8 SCUs 24 SCU = three 8 SCUs 32 SCU = two 16 SCUs / four 8 SCUs
this is a great idea to pack your stuff into kits as well ... I have used the boxes mainly for bunker and cave missions to haul stuff in and out - but of course, you could put armour, weapons, and suits in there too to have one crate containing a full kit!
Today I did a 10k bunker, looted 4 or 5 NPC's and some random weapons which filled a 1SCU box. Took box to Seraphim stored with most of the items still inside (As a separate experiment I moved some items in and out of the box in freight manager and it is currently somewhat bugged). Went to the cargo deck kiosk and sold all items in the box and the box minus a med pen which didn't sell. That sale made 12,454 credits. I sold the items that wouldn't go back in the box (5 items) for 4,191 so a total 16,654. you get roughly half your money back on the box - purchase 2k and sold for 1.1. A Sabine under suit sold for 1 credit so not worth looting. Additionally I went back to A18 and placed 4 ship items in an 8 SCU box. Went to Dumper's Depot and the box and content were capable of selling - listed and check marked as sellable, but I didn't intend to sell some of them or the box so i didn't complete the transaction. The list of sellable items inside the 8 SCU box were Bolon Q - Drive (yes size 3) 5.3k, JS-300 1.7K, M3A Cannon 470 and Rattler Missile 13 credits. The box wasn't at max capacity, it was just an experiment to see if I could make a bulk sale of ship items inside a container. Ship components have to be placed in the Warehouse then moved to a container for bulk sale, but that's easy to do. You probably already know it, but you can open these boxes while they are in station/spaceport storage and add or remove items by double clicking the box to open it after you move the box the the left half of the screen.
It's Sept 7 and from all the hotfixes CIG patched this method out, no longer works for Hauling missions! It's insane to move like (40) 1scu boxes at a time! For immersion sake's argument, one would never walk across the office to pick up 1 pencil at a time to move to the storage closet; they would pick up the packet of 20 pencils and move it that way. :|
Can you also double click the 8scu container when it gets to the bottom and drag the other boxes into the warehouse to complete the mission? Then send the box back up?
the problem is yes for cargo autoloading is working and i like it even if i pay some auec, the huge problem is if i have example 100 helmets 100 suits 100 weapons you know all this personal staff and i want to move it example from orison to grim hex need to loading manually one bye one! thats is huge problem because we need days to do that , i hope so devs make autoloading system and for that staff and not only for buying cargo. :(
Greta video, appreciate the tip but i have mixed feelings about the whole process. Seems like it has been made much more complicated than it should be. I don't know, just have to fiddle it with for myself before i pass judgment
I'm wondering if CIG is making this deliberately.... Ofc its not possible to make these mission, to give you option when picking them to choose container....
The Star Citizen devs must be kinda nuts, huh? If they can do stuff like this, why not let us pick the box size from the start? Sometimes it feels like they make the game more complicated just for fun. But since they don't play it themselves-just mess with it for development and then forget about it-it seems like they have no clue what's really going on. Still, the community's super into it. Thanks for the tip!
I could buy 1,2,4,8,16,32 box sizes even though the 32 could not fit th elevator. This method would let you load empty boxes with say 11 single boxes into 2, 8 and 4 boxes. Bring the needed boxes send them down, the load what you are picking up bring the 2 full boxes back up. Simple you load as many boxes into the boxes you have
You can select your own SCU container size when buying commodities for trading, but when you do contract haulage missions like these, you are transporting the exact cargo the supplier has for you, but how you *pack* it into your ship is up to you. This works similarly to the real world; as someone who works in warehouse managing cargo, sometimes a shipment will be a complete pallet of the same item, or mixed. [The best way to describe it is, think of a 'complete' pallet being an 8 SCU box full of the same cargo. But a 'mixed' shipment consists of 1SCU boxes of different items. You can have the 1 SCUs stacked together loose for shipping, or compile them up onto a pallet for ease of transport.] This method of being able to compile cargo shipments into your own containers is useful for ships such as the RAFT which can only hold 3 containers of *any* size, so you can mount 3 empty 32 SCU containers, and be able to unmount them, have them loaded up with the supplier's cargo, and then load the RAFT back up. Stuff like this also allows you to categorize shipments for destinations, as different contracts have multiple materials going to different locations, so you can load the cargo into specific boxes to quickly sort them, as opposed to having everything lumped in one jenga pile.
Many people are saying this doesn't work anymore in the live game. Please keep that in mind.

@@tricky_business Yes, and it just stucks your freight elevator~
@@galaganne4799 Thank you!
it's really annoiyng that with so many bugs, they rush to "fix" this thing that makes more sense, IRL you would do the same thing

Sounds like you got a great operation planned. Happy to help
Literally my same plan
Exactly what I'm doing except with the C2
I tried it but most of the time when i but 8 boxes in only one or two stay in the bigger Box. Why???

Game Changer for the RAFT if you could do this with 32 SCU containers.

does this still work? i tried it and kept geting elevator obstructed errors. not sure if its some kinda bug or they've nerfed it
I figured this could be done but couldn't figure it out. I didn't know you could drill down on the container. This will save so much time. Thanks!

Thanks for sharing. Of course CIG methods are asinine as usual, but figuring out the work-arounds is 90% of playing star citizen.

bout to say, putting items in boxes not just causes an error
pro tip = fill and unfill your 8scu boxes using the storage terminal, way less janky than the cargo terminal
Can you also double click the 8scu container when it gets to the bottom and drag the other boxes into the warehouse to complete the mission? Then send the box back up?
This might be really nice for the vuluture if you offload boxes

It's still working? I cant do it, when i'll move the commodity to the self storage, an error appears...
Great tip, thank you!
Glad it was helpful😁
Very useful, thanks 👍🏻
Can you do this the other way around? i need to make a big into small
does this still work? I tried but it gives me an error screen.
Seems that they fixed it so it no longer works
Why would they 'patch' this? I am so confused how this isn't an actual game mechanic
when i try to do this it says the item is blocking the elevator, looks like it got patched to only work for looting?
They patched it because yes it was helpful but it would bugg out some missions and they didn't have time to figure out why
