    I bought a Gibson Hummingbird new in 1964. This sounds close, but not as good as an wood at 58 years old. I don't care what others think. AGED wood makes all the difference. This new Epiphone sounds great to me.

    I think it sounds fine, my guess is that the room is small or dead sounding. This is not a great representation of the guitar.

    I purchased a Hummingbird as it seemed to sound ok at the time. However,
    unplugged it is a disappointment. Sounds hollow and tinny. I later
    bought a Sigma (OMT-1STE+ only a tad more price wise) and there is no
    comparison. Even against my Takamine it falls short. So now it just
    sits on its stand attracting dust. I'm not saying it's a bad guitar for
    the price, but the positives are it is well constructed and solid, looks
    cool, is ok plugged in, but there are better instruments out there for
    your cash if you are looking for good unplugged sounds in addition to
    the Hummingbirds positives. :)

      @@amihan99 well i lowered the action, fitted lighter strings .11 and added brass bridge pins. The sound is now improved a fair bit but still lacks the full bodied sound I like.... I like the sound of Sigma’s and for even more value have look at Harley Bentons range... interesting you tube demos but not tried in person !

    For those who interested in this guitar, I suggest you guys to replace the crappy plastic saddle to a bone saddle. It's only 2$ and you get no more dead sounding guitar. But you need to get a sandpaper and the 3 inch saddle lenght is little bit uncommon.

    For the price you can't go wrong! I think it's great for the Acoustic guitar players first decent guitar! This guitar is perfect!
    My first decent acoustic guitar was an _Ovation_ But one of the cheaper models. I priced Gibson Hummingbird=3,839.00
    The Epiphone Hummingbird= $369.00. What a gigantic difference. Of course without a doubt there's a reason why Gibson
    is so expensive! 💰💸

      Mafalda Freitas I bought one 6 months ago and I can’t put it down! I’d maybe recommend a new set of strings right away though. The factory ones are really bad. Go for 11-52 gauge and you’ll be sorted. 👍🏻

      @geripatterdaleswinscoe3428 3 года назад

      Marcus Wilson Hi Marcus. I have just ordered one of these guitars. And have experienced bad strings from the Epiphone factory a couple of times before. Which brand of string do you recommend for the 11 - 52s ?

    • @marcuswilson3485
      @marcuswilson3485 3 года назад +1

      geripatterdale swinscoe I went for Martin strings. I’m now thinking of going up to 12s. But it’s all about personal preference. I’ve been playing 30 years and I sometimes get annoyed with people online, telling you what’s good and bad. My advice is “try before you buy”
      For strings on an acoustic, I always start at 11s and work my way heavier from there.
      I hope that helps you in some way mate. 👍🏻

    Hi ! I write here cause it's the 2nd video about this guitar that I watch today cause a friend of mine had talked to me about that guitar, telling me that it sounds well when it's plugged ; and none of the two videos that I've seen had made us listen the sound when the guitar is plugged ! For an electric-acoustic guitar, that's a little bit weird...Why can't we listen to the sound plugged ? I'm wondering why....Thanks a lot for having read this comment. CIAO BYE !

    I've just bought one and when I A/B'd it there was no difference in the sound and the feel. Gibson must be joking their prices are ridiculous and they expect us to pay thousands more just to have their logo on the headstock. I've got an SG a Strat and a G&L guess which one is my "go-to" It's the G&L. Screw the multi-nationals. When I unboxed it just now I freaked for a second cos there weren't any controls on the upper bout but on closer inspection, I noticed that they were just inside the soundhole. It wouldn't have made any difference really, I don't usually amplify my acoustics I prefer to mic them up. I took to this guitar immediately, she's great.

      I would highly recommend sweetwater when buying instrument products. If you're on a budget then I'd check out D'addario or Ernie Ball strings.

    I purchased mine for $629AUD but it needed a lot of work ($380AUD) by a number one Australian luthier and worth every cent Straight out of the factory they're pretty crook but after the work they are great. However Sigma make superior instruments I have a Sigma GJA-SG200 Grand Jumbo on order after an A/B with the Epiphone J200 it loses out.

    Do not purchase the hummingbird if you are looking for a great sounding guitar!
    Tried it a week ago, it sounded unbelievably flat, no deep end at all. I could barely hear any bass tone. And the nut action was pretty high on the one I tried.
    I really hated the sound since it felt like a piece of paper with a speaker.....Thin

      Quite different in my experience. But I bought my friend’s and it was well taken care of and humidified. It still needed a setup to my preference but aside from that it was spot on, especially for the price.
      My only complaint is, I play hard, many time striking the bout with the side of my hand for percussive reasons, and the wiring seemed pretty cheap as it kept shorting out

    I'm sorely tempted to go acoustic but being used to playing Les Paul's for the last 40 years I'm not sure that I could take to having to reach over such a fat body.
    Might just buy a small busking amp to carry on the shoulder and have the luxury of playing a well playable guitar. 🎸🎤🎶😊👍☕

    He should have promoted Gibson . While it is based on an iconic Gibson guitar... alas my fellow rockers, bluesers, and country aficionados ... We are truly comparing apples and oranges .. but for $369 online for the Hummingbird pro.... It's actually a good value . In my humble opinion , one would be better off comparing it to it's price point class. Anyone that thinks they are getting a Gibson Hummingbird should reconsider. However I did buy one for what it is . A well decked out value price point take on the original . Great tone, well done vintage look, impressed with the intonation however I will always professionally set up any guitar I buy with my local luthier. The electronics are actually pretty good and it feels very good for what it is . Get the PRO or don't get the guitar . In the price point class here, you're looking at Takamine G series , which I own and still think it may be a better overall guitar than the Epiphone,Yamaha FG, Fender T Bucket ( not bad but I favored the Epi over this ) Washburn HDS, and Ibanez Artwood. But if we are trying to look ( and never quite sound ) like Jimmy Page and friends , this is a great value . Special note to Pete Madsen and narrator ... and my apologies if this comes across as a troll..constructive criticism is what it is ... the mono tone, doldrum review comparing the quality of mahogany and finish to the Gibson isn't the best use of a review . I would actually be pissed if I was Epiphone / Gibson . From reading below.. a lot of people were pissed at the review .

Those tunes and that guitar are pretty bad ass in my opinion. Hell… it's probably cheaper than a ticket to the cold place. No, I'm not drunk… lol.
