Another banger video fam! I couldn't think of any characters except the 2 that ended up being at the top of this list lmao, got them in the right order too 😎 Anyways I'm loving this content, would love to the opposite of this video, the characters that had the biggest glow ups
6:14 I've always had a problem with this. I mean I know they tried to make both the 3DS and the Wii U Smash Bros basically the same but both of them have different modes. They both have different classic modes the final boss against MasterCore is different in both games. And there were some different side modes and stuff. They didn't have to make everything exactly the same and they clearly didn't so they could have just put ice Climbers in the Wii U version and just not have them in the 3DS version. I just don't see why that's an issue and it's stupid that it was an issue that prevented this fighter who was the second best fighter in Brawl from being in the game
Always love a new Mikey D video Drop. I saw you comment on a coney podcast talking about Rivals 2, and would love to see you make some content for that game since it's a lot of fun and the hype train is still high while there is no smash 6
@@nextos appreciate it a lot! I don't think I'm anywhere near a level at Rivals where I'd be comfortable making good content from it, but I'll definitely keep it in mind haha
Imo, the biggest reason behind why Mewtwo fell off so hard in Ultimate is indeed the airdodge changes. SSB4 Mewtwo had a really busted airdodge, the best one in the game, which basically functioned as a get-out-of-disadvantage free card. This is really important to have for a character that is tall, floaty, and light. Ultimate Mewtwo doesn't have this, and instead has a very laggy directional airdodge (one of the laggier ones in the game in fact), which completely flips the script on his disadvantage, going from a very good one to one of the worst ones in the game, which again is really bad for a character that is tall, floaty, and light. Looking back at SSB4 footage, that version of the character was carried pretty hard by that airdodge; he would be a significantly worse character without it.
Surprised you didn’t mention Bayonetta’s horrendous nerfs from sm4sh to ult. At least when the game first came out, since she got beneficial buffs later on. While she was broken in sm4sh no argument on that but she definitely is nowhere near as op as she was in the previous smash game. Going from best character in the game to below mid tier on release in the new game is crazy…. On the topic of that though, wonder what will happen to Steve and Kazuya in the next smash game that is if they make another smash game.
@@flexyfalcon yeah I wanted to do something like this for Bayo and even Marth and MK in early S4 but for both Smash 4 and ult, there were no "Official" community tier lists until multiple patches in, so I would have had to go back and look at notable tier lists and even them out or something. It felt like a bit of a grey area so I decided to just go with current rankings for each game
I like the idea but I think the methodology is very flawed. Comparing the relative placement isn't really much better than their nominal placement because it still doesn't tell us anything about their actual nerfs. For example, say a character from sm4sh was *exactly* the same in Ultimate, but many other characters received buffs and most new characters were top tier. According to your assessment, they'd be "worse" despite having not changed at all. The fact that Meta Knight doesn't make your list says everything. He's still a good character in sm4sh, but that is a huge downgrade from being the most notoriously OP character Brawl, let alone the whole series. If you still wanted to use objective data, you could've taken a deep dive into the characters' frame data and other attributes.
Being worse relative to the rest of the characters, while remaining the same character, makes you a worse character in the meta of that game though lol. Villager is the perfect example that is mentioned in this video. He didn't change much, but went from being a decent threat in S4 to pure irrelevancy in Ultimate. Agreed on the Meta Knight thing, but it would take years to look at every single nerf and change that 50 characters have got between multiple games. And even then, it's still subjective as the severity of a nerf to the frame data of a move can be interpreted differently.
The fact that Bayo's transition from 4 to Ultimate wasn't mentioned whatsoever is absolutely ridiculous! She went from the best in the game to bottom 5 at the start of Ultimate! They not only nerfed her strongest options but exasperated her weaknesses for no reason!
I used the most current tier lists because it was too much of a grey area to look at individual patches. Bayo is fine now. But yea if I compared her to the first patch of Ultimate, she would be on the list easily, but there was way less consistency in early tier lists, as people didn't understand the games nearly as well.
Could u use facts please? In Smash 4 C tier and B tier are High Tier. And in Ultimate most of the cast is viable or atleast useless unless your ganon idk little mac.
@@Mike-di3mo i never implied otherwise, using the number to see their relative place is literally using facts. If I arbitrarily say "being 69th is Ultimate as good as being mid tier in Melee because Ult has so many viable characters! Then that is the exact opposite of using facts and just drawing my own lines
@MikeyDLuffy Yeah your right, but still you should've used the what the tier placement actually means, like how in smash 4, you could think C and D tier are mid tiers, but C tier is actually high tier, and D tier is actually mid tier.
64 Kirby to Melee Kirby is the biggest nerf to a character in the whole series
Honorable mention to Ice Climbers from Brawl to Smash 4, going from second in Brawl to being cut from Smash 4.

Mewtwo competitive smash run:
From Melee to Smash 4: one of the greatest glow-ups
From Smash 4 to Ultimate: one of the greatest fall-offs
@@BlackMamBa-yq5on bros really been through it
Before watching my guesses are:
Kirby 64 -> Melee
Puff Melee -> Brawl
ICs Brawl -> Ultimate
Falcon Melee -> Brawl
Gannon from melee to brawl was tragic but also fox from melee to brawl was really bad so idk
Fox wasn't as bad since the whole cast saw a fall off in brawl. The only one Who remained (and even got better) was IC
Fox at least deserved it,annoying asf in melee,but seeing captain falcon fell off from melee to brawl was tragic
At least Brawl Fox is still a character. Ganondorf never got to leave bottom tier after Melee.
“Really bad” for Fox is going from top tier to mid tier lol.
This character’s so strong.

1. Kirby (64 to Melee)
2.Jigglypuff (Melee to Brawl)
3. Falco (Brawl to Sm4sh)
4. King Dedede (Brawl to Sm4sh)
5, Ice Climbers (Brawl to Ultimate)
DAMMIT I COMMENTED THIS JUST BEFORE YOU POINTED THE GAP OUT
Kirby gained a side special and spot dodge, but lost both horizontal throws, and all of his combos.
Awesome video. Definitely subbing. You should make another video on this but have it be the biggest upgrades
1. Kirby
2. Bayonetta

ganon melee - brawl
dedede brawl - s4
falco brawl - s4
marth brawl - s4 (if you count him before his buffs)
olimar brawl - s4
