Family friendly, informative and entertaining, Retro Reviews with The No Swear Gamer contain no swearing and plenty of retro goodness. Today's episode continues the ABCs of Retro Gaming series in which I review one game for each letter of the Alphabet. Today's letter is “”T” as in Thunderstrike for Sega the CD, my first Sega Cd review! Also known as AH3 Thunderstrike and Thunderhawk on the Mega CD, Thunderstrike is from JVC and Core (makers of Tomb Raider) and came to us in 1993. Based on the computer game named Thunderhawk, this game is a little like Airwolf and the Desert Strike series as it is up to you and your super helicopter to save the day. Join At-At Commander and myself as we see if Thunderstrike is worth the flight or if it should be grounded.
Great video, this is my top 10 sega 💿 game and terminator silpheed snatcher final fight etc
Games like this gives me the impression that the sega cd is a 32 bit console
And soul star
This is one of my favorite Sega CD games, that I never actually owned until picking it up at Retropalooza 3 nearly two weeks ago. Sadly, my Sega CD stopped working back in 1996, so I guess I bought the game just to HAVE the game, which is kind of silly but at my age I'm too old to play games so may as well just collect them. I enjoyed the review, although it was kind of hard to understand the dialogue without any gratuitous profanity.
still own this game, its so much fun! this was the one game next to sonic cd i probably played the most on it. just worried about the cd's they ll be hitting their age limit soon :( well at least you can get the roms...
Yeah, that is the down side to CD based games.
I loved this game as a kid. Just like Wing Commander so much fun.
I like the rock music sound track. I loved this game. In retrospect, I like it better than the sequels. It was so fun to fly around blowing stuff up. I’ve got to get it for my emulator.
Looks like like fun game, seems to make good use of the scaler hardware of the Sega CD.
I love sega CD!
Started life as a cartridge title.
Thanks to Sarah Jane Avory for the information
Megadrive version of Thunderhawk looked the same as the Amiga version, and ran just as fast. In fact, it took me just 1 day to port a working version of the 3D engine from Amiga to Megadrive. Would've like to have finished the project, but then Mega-CD came along and so the project was shelved.
I finally picked up a cd add-on and a copy of this game. I grew up with the genesis wanting this game so bad. I guess getting the CD scared off my parents and I eventually got the sequel on the PS1.
tracks 9 and 10 on thunderhawk have excellent guitar solo's. quite often i crank this game up on a friday night just to drink beer and listen to the tunes lol.check em out
Back when I first had a Sega CD, I listened to several tracks from several games in my portable CD player!
I don't have a Sega CD, but this goes right on the list if I ever do. Great review of a game that looks good.
Thanks!
Urban Champion.
You got it!

2:12 Looks like New Zealand doesn't exist in this world!
....What's a New Zealand???
Military simulations don't tend to age well, and Thunderstrike is no exception.Hard on the eyes and lacking excitement, AH-3 Thunderstrike is one of the more forgettable entries in the Sega CD library.
Your opinion is noted, and now dismissed.
@Gavin Townsley oh so you go by what others say, instead of playing Sega CD core design games...if soul star got 60% I wouldn't care it the best looking and playing shooter on Sega cd
