- The Young and the Restless enduring fan favorites, Jess Walton (Jill) and Tricia Cast (Nina) reunite for this special conversation with Michael Fairman celebrating the CBS Daytime drama series, recent 12,000th episode milestone.
Tricia returned to the series for a guest stint as Nina's son, Chance wed his love, Abby Newman. During the chat, exclusively for the Michael Fairman Channel, Jess and Tricia reminisce about their past storylines together which included: plots by Jill and Katherine (the late Jeanne Cooper) to get Nina out of Genoa City and more.
Jess and Tricia also share their thoughts on both winning Daytime Emmys throughout their daytime careers, plus working alongside other castmates including the late Kristoff St. John (Neil), Lauralee Bell (Christine), the late Darlene Conley (Ex-Rose Deville) and Thom Bierdz (Ex-Phillip).
Tricia is as warm as she appears. I was fortunate to have met her a few years ago. Delighted to have " Nina " back on Y&R . Hope it sticks for along long time. 💖
Talk about legacy characters, I just learned that the original Mamie Johnson, Marguerite Ray passed. She played the Abbotts housekeeper from 1980-1990. RIP Marguerite.
That scene when Nina told off Jill and Katherine after Philip died was great, Emmy worthy in my opinion!
Loved it when they had Nina be a younger version of Jill and they fought and clawed one another!

I am so glad you were able to interview them! It was especially wonderful to see Tricia after all of these years. Tricia and Jess had the best "fights" years ago. I hope that Y&R brings Tricia back for more episodes.

Thank you so much Michael for rounding these 2 ladies up for the awesome interview/conversation. It's terrifying how fabulous Jess Walton is as an actress. "Jill" is hell on wheels and always has been. i remember the very 1st time she appeared on Y&R in 1987. Mrs. Chancellor threw Phillip a birthday party and all of his friends were there, including Nina and Cricket, with a host of high school buddies, etc. Jill crashes the party and of course she tries to upstage Mrs. C. I could go on and on about how fantastic I think Mrs. Jess is, but I would like to focus on Tricia Cast for a sec. Reading that she was making a return to the show really excited me because I liked her from the 1st time I saw her on screen. That whole black market baby storyline was Gargantuan! OMG. We cant say enough about the legendary Darlene Conley. There are so many wonderful people that have worked @ Y&R. CBS, period, if the truth be told. I am just so excited and so hopeful that NIna (Tricia) can come back under a contracted role and stun us once again with her greatness. Sometimes I wonder if they really know how much we love them, how much they are respected for their work and how great it is to see them after so long. Nina went through a lot, but she was tough and she didn't cower away like a shrinking violet when trouble came her way. She stood toe to toe with the heavyweight actresses Mrs. Jeanne Cooper and Mrs. Jess. Heck, she even shot David Kimble after she found out about how he was trying to fleece her for her money. I saw it ALL and I just love them dearly. If you could, please show her and Mrs. Jess this comment so they will know that I think they are the bees knees and I adore them and their skills as legendary actresses. I definitely want Nina back full time. There is plenty of imagination amongst those writers to get her in there and pick right up where she left off. Thank you again, Michael. You made my day with this video. Come on back N.I.N.A. Love you, Mrs. Jess!

Nina is my number favorite female character on the show!!! Your Y&R interviews are always very classy, detailed and you know your GC history! OMG. This was fabulous. Two of my favorites. The three day wedding episodes celebrating the show's 12,000th episode were so good. So sentimental. I was kind of bummed that they didn't have Thom Bierdz return as Phillip. It was nice that he was mentioned several times but I have to wonder why he wasn't there. Was he even asked? They really didn't touch on what Phillip's life is like now as a gay man. Kind of wish they would have touched on that some. And why of all people were Chris and Paul not there, Nina's best friend after all. Kind of thought that was odd.
Saw a 1975 Rockford Files episode with a beautiful young Jess Walton.
This was most wonderful. I feel like I finally met up "with long lost family" once again, at last. And indeed, they are like family, becuz they've always been with me, and me with them, all thru the forty plus years. God bless 🌹

She my Jill Abbott who I grew up on. So many of the fans talk about the actresses that played Jill. I've seen some of the videos, but Jess is my Jill.
Jess is such a nice person- I'm so happy to see her on screen, because we do like vets. I get so excited to see Jill Abbott. It awesome to see Tricia Cast back on the show- of course we love Nina Webster- Nina McNeil- when she was married to Ryan...When she and Victoria both attended Ryan graduation.
I missed Bill Bell - YR which was the best storytelling...There were some of Maria Bell writing I like, but Bill Bell was the best! .

I'm also upset that the Chancellor living room there no need for the change. We like the familiar of the characters who been in Genoa City.
The fans are more into classic characters than the newer ones.
So Agee! That's why I dont watch that much anymore. Love the show but the last couple of years has been kinda off.

@@Dee-gx7yb YR for some reason is that Plot over characters wins. I could see GH/Days may be plot heavy. YR/BB should be characters driving plot. Whats strange to me is that Paul Williams the senior detective is only mentioned more than seen and YR keeps going into crime plots and he is barley shown solving anything. For me its a money thing. Its like saying to us. We can't show Paul and classic charcters so we can't write for them.
I wouldn't mind the new characters if the performers playing them could act

Just me or Tricia seems reeally shy?! Super sweet but pretty bashful and reserved. FAB actress though! Jess seems instantly gregarious, secure, real, and vibrant as hell!

I so wish we could see some clips of Darlene Conley as Rose,Deville.I mostly Remember her in the story with Nina and Cricket.I know she was 2nd Hand Rose is a story,I think with Chris Brooks.I was going to school,during that one,so I missed most of it.

It's always good to see Nina, I've always liked Nina, she was a mess and a trouble maker when she first came on the show! I love when they bring back legacy characters, the people I grew up with. Great interview! Good to see Jill as well!

That was a cute show. I think Jason Bateman played her kid brother.
I wish I had known this was on. I would have loved to ask Jess what it was like playing Multi Characters on various episodes of Cannon. The reason why Jill & Nina didn't like each other was because Jill saw too much of Nina in herself. They were both Girls from the poor side of town. Then Nina deals with History repeating itself with Chloe for a Hot Minute when she was briefly dating Chance (then played by Real Life Militaryman John Driscoll).

Also they both won Daytime Emmys for their work. I would have loved for Jess to have gone to The UK and Guest Star on The UK Soap Opera Emmerdale and get into loggerheads with Kim Tate, they are so much alike. Came from humble beginnings, Married "Older" Men, had Late In Life Babies. Jill has "Issues" with Billy while Kim finds out her Son Jamie was trying to Poison her.
Brenda Dickson, the original Jill, was a train wreck! Good times!!
I so wish you would have asked Tricia about working with Brenda Dickson. No disrespect for Jess, but that tumultuous relationship between Nina and Jill started with Tricia and Brenda. And I wonder what Jess thinks of the former Jill Foster. Love her or not, Jess did have big shoes to fill when she took over the role. And thank you for mentioning Darlene Conley, she was the women you loved to hate when she played Rose the baby snatcher. Wouldn't that be something if all these years later we find out that the character of Sally Spectra was really Rose who moved to L.A. to start a new life! Only in the soaps!
Why not bring back the characters that made these shows great in the first place? The fans love it and it would bring back some people that used to watch it back in the day. The producers of these shows are really missing the mark these days.
