I would really love to see this video in Blue Peter style - so at the end you say 'and here is one I did earlier' and show us what it looks like when it grows again from the stem.
Great video and for anyone watching and reading, the Grow Paradise shop is great 👍🏼 I’ve done a few orders the last few months and been really happy with Craig’s service and also the plants he sells. Will 100% be buying more in the future and enjoy being educated from these videos too.
I saw a video similar to this about a year ago and chickened out of cutting. I’m now at a point where I don’t have a choice! Thanks for giving me some confidence 👍🏻
Dude I have an big girl just like this one here with multiple long branches and I’ve been so scared to cut her! Tysm! I’m gonna make twenty of her now haha yesss I can’t wait to see my little ones grow.
Ha! Love the "Be brave!" 😂 Thank you so much for explaining the reasoning for folks saying to give it a couple days to callous over! I've heard that forever and it didn't make sense to me. The light bulb has finally gone off! 😁 What a gorgeous plant!! Cheers and a "subscribe" from the US! 😊
My succulent was about 2’ 6” tall and had 2 branches. Very leggy and damaged by my cat misjudging a jump. This video has given me hope ! I’m off to cut and pot. Thank you!
Thank you so much for this video. I have just been given a leggy single stem aeonium to rescue. Now I know what to do with it. I can’t wait to get many baby plants. 😊😊😊
Great information! I have so many of these growing in the yard that were here before I moved in. I have recently started studying succulents to begin to fix my yard and didn't know what to do about THEM because they were so horrible in the Summer but beautiful in the winter and Spring, but I have toooooo many of them in places that I don't want them to be anymore. Now I know how to cut them back and make new ones to give away to friends without the guilt of thinking that I was going to kill them when I cut them.
Brilliant, you told me just what to do , I was so nervous about cutting the stem especially as my 2 were given to me by a good friend. Thank you, I look forward to seeing the results in a few weeks.
Aren’t you the brilliant one! What a great idea! Angle top & horizontal bottoms. I propagate my Hibiscus all the time and separate it into piles lol! Not the best method believe me 😳 thank you for that tip!
Thank you so much! My succulents have all gone crazy and I didn’t know what to do with them. What a great video - easy to understand, clear explanations, good videography and examples. I’m a very visual learner so this is perfect xx😊
Thanks for the video, very helpful. Do you have any videos on Desert Roses? I can’t seem to find any good videos on how to propagate them and keep them flowering. Thanks for everything you share.
I have heard that pruning your plants help them grow more vigorously. From one stem, multiple new stems will grow out. I have seen it done on Jade plants, which are similar to the Aeoniums.
Thanks Craig. This is going to help me bulk up the succulents I'd like to use on a new project next year. Plus a few extra orders of course. Keep the videos coming!
Hi Craig. Great video. Will be trying this out 👍🏼. But ! It got me thinking about these types of plants in the wild !. Is it that in the wild the long/twiggy stems/branches get busted off by animals or strong winds !! I'm interested now on seeing if a "busted" off cutting would root freely from lying on the surface ! . I have recently planted up around the base of my olive tree with a selection of alpine succulent and was amazed yesterday returning from holiday how little busted off bits have rooted and now creating even more ground cover over this large pot. Your view will be great 👍🏽
Loved the video and also I have propagated an Aeonoum Tebuliform from one leaf taken from the outside left in water in a bright place they have grown well and just wanted to recommend so you don't have to wait for it to seed. Many Thanks Daphne Rose
Two improvements... 1. If you don't let it scar over and dry up, then you shouldn't water it right when you plant it. You should wait a few days. 2. To remember which way is up or down you should angle the BOTTOM and that way it pokes into the dirt easier
Brilliant really clear and helpful. One of my aeonium branches has flowered and the flowers have converted into babies. Can I cut the whole flowering branch and repot it?
My 2 succulents are tall and curving around. I was going to repot them together in a terracotta pot. Does this sound ok,? I have small lava rock and soil not sand. They are in small pots now with direct TX evening sun.
Do you treat a Night Blooming Cyrius the same way? I was tying mine up and it broke so I stuck the 2 large pieces into the dirt and one is rotting. Should I let it callous after cutting the rotten part away? It's like 14 inches long and only 3 inches from the base is turning black and soft. Thanks 😊
So glad I came across this video! Now when those black rose aeoniums open up all the way are they done? Should i cut them off? Or do they close up into rosettes again during dormancy?
@@GrowParadise I see. I'm still learning about her needs but she's lost a lot of petals, so I'm going to chop and prop. I'm excited to see new rosettes, thank you!
How long does it take for the mother plant to produce branches? For me it has been 2.5 weeks still no buds on mother plant. Mine is aeonium black rose.
Hello Craig. What about if the aeonium doesn’t have anymore rosette at is head? Will this section be able to produce roots if the stem is planted in the soil? Thank you very much.
Absolutely! So long as the stem is healthy it will root and grow. Just make sure you don't plant it upside down which an easy mistake to make with leafless stems 😁
Absolutely amazing 🤩 thank you so much for all of your awesome videos!!! Thankfully I found you by searching for cutting the pups off my banana 🍌 tree, so glad I did.
Really nice video ! I think this could work in many succulents! Personally I have tried it with crassula and aloe arborescens! And they grow really well!
Fantastic timing.. I was about to ditch an overgrown succulent but didn't know this was possible, you may have just saved it's life! Wish me luck
+2 lol
I have one too like the one he's showing
Hope you got good luck with that buddy

You can do it!
Took me ten videos before I found your video with the right very well explained video on how to grow these succulents.
I'm glad i'm glad this one helped you out 👍 I've got another one about propagating these plants too
Hi I’ve just subbed. I have an aeonium that lost all its rosettes and my gut told me to chop it but wasn’t sure. Thank you. Great vlog. Peace 🧚
Same here. I'm going to try this
Dude I have an big girl just like this one here with multiple long branches and I’ve been so scared to cut her!

Do you water the cuttings right away or how long do you wait??
I love the idea of cutting the top at an angel. 👍🏼

Any update on the plants? Especially the main stem with the roots

Very easy to understand. Thank you.
Very helpful. Thank you
Great video Craig, I had a very elongated aloe a while back which I chopped up and replanted and now I have too many plants 😂
Thanks for the video, very helpful. Do you have any videos on Desert Roses? I can’t seem to find any good videos on how to propagate them and keep them flowering. Thanks for everything you share.
Mine looks dead in the unheated greenhouse, might the stem, root have survived. Cambridge uk!
v clear and useful

This was fantastic. Thank you so much for explaining, so interesting 🙏
What farmers market do you go to sale your lovely succulents?
Going out to do mine now
Mine is a big stalk like that I was afraid to touch it. Thank you
Hi great video, thanks! Can I ask how quickly the cuttings become established and if you can propagate from rosettes without stems please?
Thank you this video. I do have a few leggy aeoniums
No problem, we hope the video helped.

Amazing! Thanks for sharing your experience 😀🪴
Hello, thank you for this new tip. I look forward to seeing the results!
Have a good day !🪴🌺💮🦋
Can you do the same with desert rose?
Very helpful video Thanks. I would like to ask if it's ok with a few sections of stem to place them in 1 pot? Thanks
Do you sell any cuttings

Once you water the cutting. How often do you water it
I was wondering the same thing
How long should it take to see new growth out of the stem that's left behind? I chopped mine a few weeks ago, and I'm not seeing anything yet.
I’d expect new growth in 4-6 weeks
Any update?
@@iresineherb7 It didn't make it. I think it had mealy bugs prior to chopping it, so it wasn't in the best health.
@@tphvoice oh hope you'll get good new ones soon

So glad I came across this video! Now when those black rose aeoniums open up all the way are they done? Should i cut them off? Or do they close up into rosettes again during dormancy?
They will stay open and keep their leaves for years and years, they are evergreen plants. 👍😁
@@GrowParadise I see. I'm still learning about her needs but she's lost a lot of petals, so I'm going to chop and prop. I'm excited to see new rosettes, thank you!

It takes 6-8 weeks on mine. Some cultivars aren't branching and will not produce side shoots
Thanks

I will watch it later on to fallow word bywords. Thanks a lot brother.
Great video 👏🏻🌿🌱☘️
I have very low success rate propogating aeonium cuttings i dont know what i am doing wrong.
So u can do this in Winter? Will they root if they r outside in a high of 65/70 n a low of upper 40's, or do u have to do it indoors?
Indoors would be better as you can control how much water they get. Thanks for watching!
Do an update video
The plants that grew from these cuttings were sold in our shop this spring. They are all in new homes and gardens now 😁🪴
I did this and the tip cutting and the root are alive but not growing much but the in-between cuttings just shrivelled up ???
How warm is it where you’ve got them? Keep them in a cool area.
I liked it & subscribed.
Awesome.
Thank you so much. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
You are so welcome 😀
My stems bent over & hollowed out. Help, it's dying!?
Can you do this with a mother of thousands
Wow.
I just mark the top of each section with a magic marker or sharpie...
I have 160 different species of succulents. I wish I could send you some pics
All my 4 succulents die after i cutting 😂 I bought another new succulent and want try again
