- Phil storms into the Vic accusing Christian of touching Ben. Christian denies it and reveals Ben tried to kiss him. Phil refuses to believe it, Christian punches him. Phil forces his way into Christian and Syed’s flat with a baseball bat.
This Ben was the biggest sniveling coward.

This single scene had so many plotlines interweaving - Ben struggling with his sexuality, Christian helping him out of the closet, Phil unable to accept a gay son, Yusuf/Masoods conspiring to get Syed from Christian, Roxy’s trust and faith in her friendship with Christian, Jane’s bond with him. And Denise’s hatred for Phil.
Yeah Denise hated him so much they had a child together.

Yeah and this led to the Christmas day episode when Ben was revealed as Phil stalker and Dennis heard the recording about Kevin's death. Then it was the b&b fire which yusif started and Christian, Patrick , masood, Ben , Denise and Phil were in that fire. Don't forget masood and Phil also kidnapped yusuf that year to. There were so many scenes with those characters that year.

This is when Bryan Kirkwood was running the show - he gave Phil some weird fights with people you never thought he would fight such as Christian and Patrick.
what I liked about those fights was the father-son relationship straints Phil had with Ben, as he was the reason those fights happened

What if you were accused? Someone told their Dad you either touched their son or daughter up? You'd experience a parents wrath because parents are more inclined to believe their children until it's proven they lied but until it is proven they'd believe them and if you shot him - in England you'd be given a sentence, it's shit I know but I also know you're meant to give two warnings before you shoot - someone could say you didn't and you'd be had up.
It's shit, I know but I watched a documentary about a farmer scared out of his mind whilst two robbers broke into his farm house, he gave one warning but not enough time to give a second and I really felt for him as he was had up and that wasn't even in England. So you can get into as much trouble by shooting because essentially you could take a life and if it's proven even by forensics by where each robber was or intruder was placed and there's no time for them to move proving you didn't give out two warnings and shot some one between the eyeballs and didn't use the gun as a way to protect yourself because that is the idea of owning one - forensics can prove if you just shot to kill and if they can the law will have you, and you'll get a prison sentence don't matter if you're innocent and he's in your house.This is why the law is shit they'll see it as you've taken a life and without these warnings you're supposed to give you're liable for owning that gun. This is why some people think the law is shit because the police want to do things but their hands are tied by rules and restrictions and there are certain things they can't do.
What if you did get the law out and your son or daughter gave false information to them? Just like Ben and how much trouble they'd be in after its proven and essentially you called the law to deal with it the right way and now you feel angry and like a fool for believing their heartbreaking story they've made up and for what? Your attention? Your love? Your softer side because you haven't been emotionally there for them - kids do that. They find what works to get their parents attention on them and Ben don't forget never felt connected to his Dad - was constantly in pursuit of his love to his detriment

I got to be honest christian in this scene didn't looked hardly scared despite his flat getting trashed up and getting hit with a bat. He stuck up for himself the best he could and was standing at the end like he was ready for a fight..
It was obvious Phil was intimidated by Christian after that punch. That's why he didn't hit him back and went over to his house with a bat. Phil would have flattened him though.

Phil literally never uses a bat, have you literally ever seen him fight besides this exact one? This was the only time. Hedidn't need a bat to fight him, he needed a bat to prove a point. He was angry at the thought of Christian taking advantage of Ben, so he wanted to ruin him, destroy his house, that's difficult with just hands. But fighting Christian alone he didn't need a bat but if he had one then of course he'd try to hurt him as much as possible.
