Glad the tires are working out, beautiful ride. Winter weather in AZ right now but hope to try the new Dsports on the DR650 soon. It's crazy what you see out on rides, rolled up on crazy stuff like that a few times. Take Care
I ran this combination on my CRF250L and it was great. Currently have a Dsport rear instead of D606 and it hooks up well. Very comparable to the D606. I may try a different front as I don’t like how the MT21 rides as it wears down. It gets rougher and less stable feeling on pavement the more miles you put on. Love it off pavement though for sure!
Haha if you think this is rough, you ought to try some of the jeep trails on Scott Turn Rd up in Elbe WA. I have the same bike as you with the deathwings on it and that ride really taught me how capable the DR is with a little confidence!
I don’t think this was rough - except for the long mud puddles, it was barely off pavement :) The main point of taking this road (other than that I like puddles and that road always has some) was to compare my experience from a previous ride before I changed out the death wings and had a near miss with the embankment. The unpredictability of those tires is why I changed them after 1500 miles. I actually liked them on most surfaces, but not on mud. I’m not trying to go out and get hurt, especially when I’m by myself as I usually am. I’ve ridden through Elbe on the way to the WABDR - love the burgers at the little burger stand there! Thanks for the comment and ride safe!
Surprised you could tell with how blocky the codec made this video (which worked in my favor with the naked guy showering). It's rare that I don't see a car back there nowadays, but used to never see anyone.
MT 21 on the front? Why not D606? The only reason I ask is that it's time for new dirt tires on my DR and I've heard the Dunlops aren't the greatest up front. Great video...
MT21 on front because it's almost universally recommended to pair with the D606 rear and I've gone through several of them on this and my previous bike. However, I have not been really happy with how the MT21 wears - it starts to get increasingly rough on pavement after 1500 miles or so (I have another video showing the wear pattern). It really is awesome off-pavement for the kind of riding I do, but I'm actually planning to try a D606 front next. I have also heard the D606 front is not as good - a rut chaser. I want to see for myself before I write it off.
"Well that is something you don't see everyday". Blessing come in many different forms. Great ride on a great trail! Great video Man!
Cheers!
Nice ride, man!
Thanks! I was still a bit over-cautious after so many miles and mishaps on the Trail Wings.

I envy your scenery I have to drive a distance here in Oklahoma for that.
I do have to go about an hour for anything decent off pavement, but the scenery is great the whole way there!
That was some awesome scenery! Thanks for sharing! Great video...
Glenn S Thank you. Still much to improve but a little at a time lol
Thanks for watching!

You went by the Notch Pass trailhead, usually a couple cars there.

Sooo ,
No off-roading the wings ??
I’d take them on gravel and hard pack. I wouldn’t take them on anything more than that. Too much of a gamble for my meager skills.
@@randomlyTrees thanks for the quick response !
I’m watching , ‘Last Flight of the Death Wings’ now 🌟

Forgot to add - if you don't mind, let me know what you do decide to go with and how you like it. Thank you for the comment and ride safe!
Has there been any change to the suspension?
No suspension changes yet. That’s in my plans for 2022.
