    In this AD match masterclass, Stephen 'Widget' Crowe experiments with liquid enhancements to see if they really do increase your chances of catching. By tracking the effectiveness of fishing both with and without liquid enhancements, we were able to reach some interesting conclusions!

    I must admit I was sceptical about flavours. Here my verdict now, I always carry some as I proved it on a very hard carp dominated park lake. It has a few tench and loads of roach some are just over 2lb. I was struggling for carp even tho regulars were catching now and then it was winter last year I decided to try 10mm boilies and nothing tried another day with 10mm pop ups nothing then near end of that session I asked if I could use a flavour on my boilie off a carp angler along by me it was wonder berry. Half hour later carp on then again as he put a drop of wonder berry in a tub for me I ended up with 5 carp after 7 blanks now use it on my lakes I joined and doing well against boilies with no added flavour.

    Thanks for answering a question a lot of ask our self and others. I know of your liking for F1 additives which I believe basically sweetness so I would imagine VDE Brasem, scopex, and bog standard glycerine should work.
    I do genuinely believe 90% of branded baits are there to catch the fishermen. Look at all the advertising for Miruku when it was in every tackle shop, now it's gone. Surely if it was so good people would be directly importing the stuff to gain a advantage.
    I can understand bait additives working on static baits ie the feeder and pole but does it have a addvantage on feed pellets when fishing a falling bait like the pellet waggler to all depths and my favorite method the slow sinker in open water venues.
    Can fish taste once it's in their mouth enough to say I want more the way we taste, or is it simply noise and sight. I would have thought bog standard feed pellets would be pretty bland especially after been in mucky pond water.

      Hi Malc, Im pretty confident most additives would make a difference, the extra attraction must help, everyone seems to have a favourite. Interesting point about the flavours added to falling bait like the pellet waggler, maybe that's a test for another day. Cheers Steve.

    Flavored attractants certainly help me catch fish, but I'll make my own and save a fortune. It's basically just vegetable glycerine and concentrated flavorings whether it be food flavorings or fish oils. Cost me l 60 cents-$1.00 per 100ml to replicate most any carp bait attractant versus $20.

      Hey Robyn
      I'm just getting back into match fishing here in Australia where it's literally all natural carp fishing. We are limited to bait from the average supermarket typically. Was there any flavours you would recommend? And do you colour them?

    You always casted the flavoured one out first so they be on the noise befor you cast the un flavoured one

    • @dkgambituk
      @dkgambituk 3 года назад

      I was thinking that too. If they were attracted to noise then the advantage was always going to be left. However, I do believe if there is a genuine flavour / scent that stimulates a fish’s senses then yes add it to feed because it can only be an advantage. Mind you get the scent wring you’ll be turning them away.

      Hi Andrew, this is an interesting point, all the casts while talking to camera were done in this way as it flows better while editing however, during the day the casts were mixed up. I see your point about the noise being a factor but sometimes bites would come 10-15 mins after the cast, im not sure the 5-10 second difference would make a huge effect. Regards Steve.

      Hi Colin, I couldn't agree more, every time I use flavours it makes a difference to my catch rate, once you find the correct one for the venue it's deadly. Regards Steve
