Erceg is responsible and defensively sound on the ground and leaned on his grappling much more in his pre-UFC fights, however, it's difficult to gauge his current grappling level due to his UFC fights largely taking place on the feet and the large skill disparity between the last opponents we saw him grapple extensively and someone like Pantoja
