- Join me as I travel The Devil's Highway in the Cabeza Prieta Wildlife Refuge and the Barry M. Goldwater Air Force Range along the southern border of Arizona and Mexico. This will be a 4 or 5 video series. The dirt road is 250 miles long and traverses some of the most inhospitable desert on the the continent. Plus, it's full of history and has been in use for a 1,000 years and was a major path for the Spanish to travel from Mexico to the California coast since the mid-1500's.

A year ago I follow your trip to Arizona in the desert, and fall totaly in love at you way of story telling. That trip was the BEST, and gave me so much knowledge about the Indians i didn't know about.
So I'm looking so much forward, to see you out here on this adventure!!!.
You are the best, NO one can beat you doing this.!!!.
Best regards from Denmark👍🏼
Dude these videos you do are just some of the best stuff on youtube.
Mr. Chigg You're More Informal Then National Geographic. Best Video Ever. Thank You For Sharing.
Love all the knowledge you share with us.
Well-done! Best documentary video I've seen on the Camino. When I first went to Bates Well, in the mid-80's, one of the barns had a 1932 calendar with a picture of a pretty girl tacked to the wall. A friend who was with me was taken with her image, and he took a photo of it. We were all students at U of A back then. My friend kept the photo above his desk. A few years later, the woman he married was the "spttin' image" of the girl on the calendar. Keep up the good work, but be careful out there. Lots of smuggling going on and those people are ruthless.
I could watch you walk around the desert all day long! Arizona is one of my favorite places on earth!
A saguaro with many holes in it has been visited by the Gila Woodpecker. The bird will drill several holes to get to the water stored inside. The saguaro seals off the hole with scar tissue to prevent water loss.
I remember seeing the Saguaro as a child when we were on a family trip ... I still have a photo my dad took with us by the cactus! You always seem to find things that tug at my heartstrings!
I watched all of these and they are fantastic!
Wow that land is so unforgiving huh. Those cacti are really tall, the little ones looked pretty vicious with all those spines. Great video Chigg, thank you. x
I do really miss the desert adventures I used to embark on... don't be without water... don't be without food... don't get near the Choya Cactus... watch for rattlesnakes... watch for scorpions... don't have open sores because a hungry mountain lion will eat you bones and all in one hour... don't make any natives angry... survival games are not fun for anyone out there... yet... I love it so much... serenity... the Lord God Almighty is even there often.
Love every video you post keep the information coming thanks

Just discovered your channel about a month ago and really enjoy your vids and the song at the end of the show. Thanks for taking us on your adventures.
The different styles of fences there are totally amazing!!
Dude your southwest adventure films are so interesting. Thanks for sharing.
Looking forward very much to the 2nd installment of another great Chigga-mentry. Great viewing Chiggman 😉😉😉
You crack me up. Only you would think about making a space video at night. No wonder your brother is hiding off video. 😂
Always a smile 😊 and interesting 👍

"promote their religion" - understatement of the year, thanks Chig :)
Always love your SW adventures and the knowledge you share. Wasn't aware of the "Red Button".
So love this.. these types of your videos are my favorites.. so excited to follow you on this adventure !! :)
Thanks for bringing us along. Arizona is such a beautiful place. I got to go there this year and do some detecting and video for my channel. Happy Hunting! ~ Gypsy🌵
I just came to read all of the hate filled comments about giving thirsty people water, or saving people lives... As Mark Twain once said - “Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime.”
Wish all the privileged assholes would realize their land of the free and home of the brave birthplace is just a happy little accident. Sigh.
Spaceship ... lol I never thought of a silo like that!
Well done Beau, love these videos. ;)) ATB Michael
The well looked like it had cement at the bottom. I hope Roscoe was with you guys out there👍
Cool family reunion!!!!
Hit the road .......jack that was hilarious
Welcome, 'chigg-brother Pete!!!
I like that you have a brain. I like that when you saw the barrel of water you didn’t open it to show RUclips there was water in it- like most knuckleheads would open it a little to let it dribble out and show us all a shot of water coming out of a faucet. Thank you.
Love that funky post video music
A number of years ago I read a Zane Grey book. I don't remember much about the story or the book name but at the very end the villain was trying to get away but his horse threw him into a large patch of Cholla. Ouch! Zane Grey sure could paint pictures with words!
Sweet vids Chigg!
Great video,I have been in that area a few times,it's a different world out there.
El Camino Del Diablo....Should be GREAT hunting !!! Just make sure the hunter doesn't become the prey....I really enjoy watching your videos. They're well made, interesting, educational, and humorous. Keep 'em coming.
I absolutely love the desert scenery. The climate is wonderful compared to east Texas where I live. I am thinking of planning a trip to Big Bend National Park in southwest Texas. Have you ever been? PS-- Super fantastic video.. as always. ☺
There is just Something so cool about detecting in the desert! Watch for the rattlesnakes haha!
Great History you find, thanks for sharing
Respect !! your the best 😁 highly insperational as always !!
This is a very cool video! Thx for sharing Mate! Cheers 🍻.
Cholla is a nasty cactus alright; The thorns are barbed, and when they pull off there is another needle underneath! I love the desert. We used to live near Joshua Tree Nat’l Park. You haven’t seen stars until you have seen them in the middle of the desert.
Welcome to the hood, I love the desert. Love your videos.
Great video SIR
Love your videos keep up the great work
That beacon is a great idea.
Maybe we should have a couple of those beacons and water barrels in our large forested parks where people get lost, and not just on the border. If you get lost in the woods, get to a high spot and look for a blue beacon light, there you will find water and a magic red button.
Thing is, we do have those in our large forested parks.... Theyre called park rangers...
You can't see a park ranger from very far away, like you could a blue beacon on a tower. In fact, you could have the coordinates of the "rescue towers" put in to the GPS system so they show up on GPS device maps. The base of the towers could have basic first aid items, water, blankets, and food. The towers could also be used by people helping injured hikers who can't make it to the tower. I realize we could never have enough towers, the areas are too large, but we could have some.
Now this is a good idea that I can get behind. Thanks for clarifying.
Always leave us wanting more...
I didn't get the notification, but I'm glad I checked my notification page!
Awesome chigg 👍
110 degrees is not only not unheard-of, it's normal! I lived in Phoenix for 15 years and it got up to a hundred and 122° one day.
It shouldn't be that easy of a formula....... things accelerate with time as they fall.
Hey Beau great videos man and he careful out there.
Interesting!
Loved it, Beau:)
Awsome can't wait to see the next one
You would think they'd move the water barrel closer to the tower w/the flashing blue light and big red emergency button(!)
Can't wait for video #2!
Great video as always
Wow!!! So cool!!!
Great video thanks for sharing!!
I love AZ I so want to go back. I could live there
@7:50ish Tennessee in the house! 🤙
Hi, my name is Dawn. I would like a tee shirt. Love your river videos.
Probably more than just a weather station... since it ‘observes’ Mexico!
Did you hear about the guy from Arizona?! He was hit by a raindrop and passed out! It took three buckets of dust to revive him.
ha ha ha
Sure do enjoy your travels, am looking forward to the next installment of your desert adventures. As always this one was fun and interesting, tho far less spooky than the face in the flashlight. LOL
Lesa. Don't quit your day job.
I don't have one, I'm retired.
*I'm a Texan who used to live in Arizona back in 89, my mom is actually from the Mexican state of Sonora which borders Arizona just to the south.* 😁
Can't belive your so close to a million subs !
I am amazed that those buildings weren't vandalized!
That round deal on the wood looks like a place where there was a device for a snoose can opener. Just stick your can of Copenhagen (not a sponsor) in there and twist! Or maybe not
Not a snoose can opener sponsor? Too bad. Snoose can opener techs are in big demand these days.
el camino. my favorite kinda car lol
Best defense for killer bees? Hold your breath. Seriously, I live in Phoenix. They are attracted to your breath.
BTW, there's scouts on the mountains all around you watching and they ain't Border Patrol.
@Jim Brown - Some dodgy Unacknowledged operation?
@@ashmaybe9634 Probably scouts for illegal alien networks.
I miss Arizona
Chigg, do you ever carry a handgun/rifle with you when you're out in places like this? Always wondered if you carried protection against the samsquantch. Great video, keep up the good work!
Don't forget to do some gem hunting!! you can find lots of things all along the 10 freeway and don't forget Saddle Mountain for fireagate!!
Be careful...have fun
Hello from Cornville
Visit Bradshaw mountains and Lynx creek if you have time
Greetings from Flagstaff!
rcmadness247 flagstaff baby!!!!!
Cornville too
Waiting for part 2
Did you make a spaceship video? I remember when you uploaded the "UFO" video and everyone fell for it lol (it was a silo roof I think)
Gotta watch out for them there desert "samsqantch" too.😆
To find the depth of the well, multiply the number of seconds by the speed of gravity, about 32 feet per second.
sirknight438 An object in free fall will accelerate at 32 ft/sec/sec until it reaches terminal velocity. In this instance of a few seconds, your estimate will suffice. Science rules.
No such thing as gravity! It’s electromagnetism!
Unfortunately, I forget something I need for every adventure....
Lol you searched right down the road from where I lived it's a awesome area there in ajo area
awesome
Nice German Army jacket!
Love the vids Beau! I live right along the old Lincoln highway aka "Great Trail" in Columbiana county Ohio. Hoping to get out and do some relic hunting myself. Maybe I can con you into coming to Ohio if I can get some decent permissions? I live close to where Morgans Raiders turned themselves in and where the "lost french gold" is rumored to be. I also have another lost treasure that needs found. That's a really long story though.
joshua hammon, That sounds awesome, I hope he says yes. Maybe he will finally find a gold coin... 😀
It's the home of Union General Robert Allen and several members of the "Fighting McCooks". My town was established in 1803 so theoretically there is a mess of history to be recovered. The other treasure I need recovered is the wedding ring of a friend who drowned in little beaver creek. It mean the world to his widow. It's a long shot but we know the exact location. The dam that caused the rushing water has been removed so the water is safe to enter now. I just need someone reputable to assist with the recovery.
Sounds like you live in a great part of the country for metal detecting! I'm sorry to hear about your friend, that would be great to have Chigg work with you on that, he has amazing skills.
you and the "exploring abandoned mines" guy should meet up and explore some mines in AZ!!!
Wait! There are 2 Chiggs! 😳
110 my butt. Forget the "official" temps. Down in these Arizona valleys we average about 115 through July into middle August. Hitting 120 happens several times every summer.
You need to watch for antivirus also, besides killer bees, and Rattlers. As I'm writing this you just banged your head on metal. lol Just be careful of everything. haha
The formula to find distance from free fall time (in a vacuum) is h=1/2gt^2, or read as height equals one half the acceleration of gravity times the square of the free fall time. The acceleration due to gravity is ~9.8m/s, and using a stopwatch a few times to time the rock falling and averaging them, I ended up with 1.76 seconds. If you plug that into the equation, you end up with a depth of 15.18m, or 49.8 feet.
