They're beautiful! I've never seen these birds before. I love how the male's feathers stand up on their heads. And when they run, it's so cute.🥰 I love this! I wish the video was longer.
You think you've seen it all and then tada! BBC earth update 😂. Am greatly impressed by the hardwork and time involved in making this seemingly small but yet power packed videos. Thanks a million.
Kagu! Never seen before in any documentaries. Curious. A bizarre creature. So is its terrestrial locomotion. Impressive! Let's hope their habitat allow them for long, healthy life!
Thank you for sharing more interesting information about the kagu! 🐦 Even though it can't fly, using its wings in courtship displays truly shows the creativity of its evolutionary process. This makes the kagu a unique and special species in the natural world. I look forward to hearing more fascinating stories about this species in the future!
It would be so nice if we Male's too had the plumes like the Male kagu, which we could display in front of our sweethearts. We Human Male's really miss it.
I’ve lived in Caledonia for 2years and you can easily go in this national park and if u have chance you can come across many little families now. They’re very funny birds lol
A interesting look inside the distinctive kagu world! 🐦 With wings more for appearance than flying, its development is fascinating. New Caledonia is full with strange fauna. I adore how you caught these birds' nesting and family relationships. Thank you for sharing this engaging and educational essay! 🌿✨
Some scientists believe that wings originally evolved to help flush out prey and that flight actually came later. So these birds might be evolutionarily ancient indeed!
Actually...as mentioned in this film....kagu´s are related to sun bitterns indeed and together they form the order of the eurypygiformes. This order is part of a larger taxon that contains birds like swifts, kolibri´s ,flamingo´s , grebs, tropic birds and pigeons : the metaves. Amazing...isn´t it?
@@JoshTrager-j9g idk, they consider tasmania part of australia and other islands part of australia, why not new caledonia it's kinda the same as all the others
@@GrowingDownUnder Honestly, I'd prefer if people just leave New Caledonia (and most islands, really,) alone. We humans have done nothing but bring ruin and destruction to nearly every single island we've been to.
Thanks to BBC for showing so beautiful picture of birds life in New Caledonia.
I've never seen these birds befoe. They're like a flightless cross between a Cockatoo and a chicken and I love them!
Some fancy chicken there, adorable!
Me too! They look a bit like the "Siriema" from south america
I feel like my grandparents didn't have to pass They could've/should've had a very happier life 😅🤍💫
What does this have to do with some cool birds. @edyr
Chickens can fly, but only in short bursts.
I've never heard of kagu birds before, but they're beautiful! They make grey look gorgeous! Thank you for showing us these amazing birds!

Birds have an amazing ability to move their skin in very precise ways that cause their feathers to move in impressive ways.
Attractive bird, and their running is so cute😂.

I didn't know these guys were a thing, their posture is so strange and upright compared to more known flightless birds
I don't know which was the best part of this clip: the gorgeous birds, the sometimes sarcastic narration or the skillful editing.
They're gorgeous! It's so amazing that having no direct threat, these species of birds evolved without the need to fly just like the dodo.
Content like this is the reason why BBC Earth is easily my favorite channel on RUclips

Kagu numbers have been going up due to conservation programs actually!
As a girl that live into new caledonia, those magnificent birds are threat of exctinction, let's hope that they will still safe🙏🏻❤
1:34 This shouldn't be so funny to me.
They look so goofy! Like they're wearing little drench coats when running

❤
I hope Velociraptor where like these birds 😂 would love to see the next Jurassic park with giant birds like these eating people 😂😂😂
I think new caledonia should be considered australian external territory since it's joined to australia and in our waters
Why......does that matter?

😮👏🏼
0:53 Narrator: “It is the Kagu.”
1:05 Kagus: *excited Rito tribe noises*
A fellow LoZ fan I see! 👍 😎
The creation of the Creator always amazed me❤
Same Here 🫡🩵
❤❤❤
May be most closely related to flamingo or ballet dancers.... Or matadors.....
I am surprised this species wasn't hunted to extinction just yet
Why they look like villain in Disney animal themed animation? 😂
I think they’re closest relative would be the Rail family
Reminds me of Phyliss Diller.
Bro is rocking a Goku style haircut.😂😊
👍👍👍
wow i wish this bird available in java island indonesia sir
nice hair
Thiên nhiên thật kì diệu
Look at the strut! Tryna get some booty in style 😂

I hope BBC Earth gonna put Walking with Dinosaurs (2025) on Netflix
Did you know they filmed the original walking with dinosaurs in New Caledonia?
Me too
Wait WHAT! I’ve been watching the OG all the time for decades.
@@ColoringKaria Me too. I have it on VHS, and the VHS player and the compatible TV. 😊
I hope they put it on RUclips
1:04 - Clearly they think they are a species of dogs.
They should be wary of tasting good.
Why do they sound like rubber chicken squeaky toys.
I think it’s related to the Lyrebird of Australia.
Thank goodness these birds didn't end up like the Dodo.
Why this chicken's look like Benimaru 😁
വെള്ളാട്ടപ്പോക്കർ 🫣👻👻
Closest relative who?
yup, that's us alright.
