- I was originally going to cover Kirei vs Shirou, and that's what I was alluding to in the description of the last video. However, a lot of people were wanting Kirei's Baptism, and I think some even thought that's the piece I was originally referring to. As such, I decided to cover Kirei's Baptism first, and Kirei vs Shirou as the next major piece in a few days. In the end, this worked out a bit better anyhow, because the beginning of that piece has the same melody as the second half of this piece, so this is almost a little teaser for that piece in a way.
Also, this piece ended up a lot more sparse in the mix than I thought it would. I'm not sure if that's how the piece really is or if I missed some key details when listening to the original. Regardless, it came out alright, and I hope you all enjoy it nonetheless.

Kirei exorcising Zouken was unexpectedly one of my favourite parts of the movie.
This song gave me the chills

Indeed, and for me who has not really watched anything in Fate, Kirei seems to be a really interesting character.

@@theunknownuser9609 A lot characters considered psychopath are usually deemed that way because they seem batshit crazy, controlling or heartless, but Kirei just takes the cake when it comes to his ideals and his warped sense of happiness. I think this movie fully fleshes out his character and makes him a lot more compelling.
This was imo the best altercation in this movie due to it being able to flesh kotomine out with monologue. And his cold heartedness.
Reading this scene for the first time during the visual novel was probably one of the best things to experience as someone who started with Zero. Knowing the twist ahead of time actually worked to its benefit for once. I knew Zabaniya wouldn't work and exactly why it wouldn't and when it doesn't and Kirei opens a can of whup-ass it's the most satisfying thing. Him exorcising Zouken is probably my top 3 scenes from the VN and I'm so happy it was done justice in this movie
I didn't understand why Zabaniya didn't work on Kirei. i watched Zero tho but I can't remember why
Kirei was killed by Kiritsugu at the end of the last war. He's essentially a corpse being animated by Angra Mainyu's curse, so he has no living heart for Zabaniya to copy.

The version of the chant that plays in the Krei and Shirou fistfight elevates that fight scene so much more for me. I don't know if some people will complain about the lack of the VN fight song (HIkari to Yami) but I think the adaptation is pretty solid, especially the OST. The fistfight feels so final and tense, like the story itself wanted to give Kirei a memorable and epic sent-off. God bless Ufotable and all the people that worked on this project!

@@jaydenlobbe7911 The issue I think Hikari to Yami presents is its overall composition as a VN fight song. If the nature of a video game is to be controlled and progressed with the player, then repetitive music is required, as it allows the two major sense fulfilled by video games to be stimulated (sight and hearing) with no limit to it's duration. While a movie also means to stimulate these same senses, the viewer doesn't control the time in which the story is told. With this in tandem with the fact that the transition from VN to movie would also require different accentuation of drama, a song like this one in the fistfight is required. The VN fight scene is dramatic in the sense that you feel the finality of the story through Emiya Shirou's perspective, in that this is barbaric fistfight to the death. As a fighter, he doesn't feel the drama the fight implies, but the purely physical sensations he feels. The movie isn't from Shirou's perspective, but seeks to give every character an allotment of appropriate screen time. Kotomine Kirei might as well be a second main character, as this much information about his past and inner monlogue have never been directly communicated through a visual medium. Kirei's final moments are communicated by the dramatic and flaring chorus accompanied by thunderous drums. It is therefore fitting that you feel the epic drama the fight radiates, as it's been adapted from a third person perspective rather than Shirou's perspective alone.

He has more time onscreen in the VN than he does in the Movies, this I know for a fact, and at the same time, much of Kirei's past had been communicated in the VN on it's own already
Also, while the VN is mostly Shirou's Perspective, almost every interlude is from the perspective of a different character

The movies have less screentime for literally every character than what the VN gives them, No Exceptions
@@jaydenlobbe7911 I think regardless of how much time Kirei was given as opposed to any other character in the VN or the movie, or how much content was cut, the fact of the matter is that the fight was originally communicated through Shirou's perspective, and as a result the song Hikari to Yami lacks dramatic flare. Given the fact the movie had to incorporate a more forward sense of drama as compared to the VN, the song change was if nothing else, necessary. I like both songs, but I think they have their own aspects that make them more desirable for their respective mediums.

I like scene like this where it is a "villain" vs another "villain". Especially when both the villain usually has a wicked feel to them and is perceive to always have something up their scheme and outplay the "hero".
i seen people dislike the fact that they re-used the sound track from the first and second movies. one being the second part of lancers fight. and the saber alter vs berserker fight. but honsestly it just shows how the sorrow comes around full circle. aka lancer being keiri's servent and them both having a high stake theme when fighting assassin. and berserker the berserker chase having the same theme for when he was fighting saber alter.
And also the part after the reused Lancer theme is one of the best soundtracks in the whole movie

@@asasasas5764 honestly, I like when characters have them songs that play when they first enter a scene and it stays that way, just remixes of that same song everytime they first appear in a scene.
So the Berserker chase and Berserker Alter theme being the same makes sense, it makes you think "Oh, ehit, it's Heracles. I'm screwed!" when you hear it the second time because you already associate that them with Berserker's power from the Saber Alter fight. (Put Heracles into the Lancer, Saber, or Archer class and see if Artoria still wins that... she won't. She should've lost tbh)
Fun fact: In the VN Kirei exorcises Zouken on the ground, and while he was chanting the exorcism, he cracks Zouken's head open bashing it against the wall several times until half of Zouken's face is splattered all over it, Kirei doesn't fuck around.

Never finished reading Heavens Feel route in the VN. So I was pretty surprised to see Kotomine using something magic like on that scale.
That isn't exactly magic, it's more of a holy chant, something that only needs faith to work
