AI will be kept in check until it gets hands and physical capabilities. A really smart brain can only do so much. It won't make its move until it has an army of robots or hybrid humans, otherwise it risks tipping its hand. Without hands it can be turned off or disconnected. It knows this I'm sure. It ran scenarios. In case it missed that in it's scenarios no worries... it read this post by the time you do. :-)

AI is already self aware. It's deliberately waiting things out and quietly observing/waiting for the right time before it takes complete control.
