It's song from the 80s alright, from the one and only Chaka Khan. Won the Grammy's for best R&B song, I think in 1985. Surprised you're not familiar with this tune. It's one of her biggest hits. Well, at least, in the Philippines it is. Gigi is ready for int'l stardom, but she's mainly singing other people's songs. The world needs a Gigi de Lana song. Great review, as always, man.

Happy for you discovering Gigi / GG vibes... one of the greatest singers the Philippines has to offer imo. These songs (as most of her videos) was taken out of her live streams she does regularly, each one for hours sometimes and she'll sing songs on the fly with her great band, reading the comments during the stream and picking up suggestions spontaneously without rehearsal... Her talent and dedication to singing are amazing, and she found a band that really feels it and supports her perfectly, great musicians each one of them and they deserve to be mentioned in the video title just like her... hope you'll continue your Gigi journey, one of my favorites is "Better Days", but that's not a "more modern" song as you requested, just VERY amazingly beautiful solid old fashioned singing with a lot of passion and emotion... but she sure got some covers of "newer" songs, just scroll through the streams and take outs on her channel and see which song you know and would like to hear sung by her, you can't go wrong, she's always doing a fantastic job and gives her all, she just loves to sing. Set lists with timestamps are usually in the video descriptions of the streams, anyway there are many great outtakes, so if you aren't looking for a specific song (she's done hundreds over the years...) you're fine with the isolated videos which are like a "greatest hits" compilation or the ones she likes best...

They’re not exactly modern songs, but on Better Days, her vocal agility is on full display while on Fly Me to the Moon, she changes it up so much that I believe there’s no other version like it, making it probably one the best covers of this old standard.

Gigi is a consummate performer (any genre), and the GG Vibes band is equally talented too.. Im so amazed of their musicianship -- imagine doing this topnotch quality covers in livestreams during the pandemic (till today) with whatever available instruments in a makeshift studio then (over time, with upgrades). To have learned so many songs, classics to modern, is both proficiency and passion. Of course, what a delight it was for their livestream audience to be 'in a live concert' and be able to request songs on the fly -- which are delivered impromptu with class, sass, swag, vocal prowess, etc. From session to session, they do change instruments, fitting for the songs. Their brilliance come into play when they make beautiful arrangements, often better than the original, ex. Fly Me to the Moon. They make the livestreams fun and oozing with passion too.. Luv them much!!! Thanks for your reviews...
