The 620P is an absolute unit of a chainsaw. I just upgraded from a factory 20" to the the 27" bar and chain. It handles it no problem and has power for days. Yeah it's heavy gurl but she cuts thru timber like it owes her money.
If you want your chains to last and avoid constant tightening, make sure you don't overheat the chain. If you let the chain determine the speed that you cut at instead of pushing it to cut faster, it shouldn't overheat and wear the chain out faster. I prefer echos in my tree service business because they start easier and seem to run smoother for me throughout a long day. Stihl are also fantastic machines; I just prefer using the Echo line.
What is the max cut length on the 27" bar? Were you using a new Echo chain or other? I ask about the chain because it sounds like the saw could handle a bit more bite. Thanks for the vid... i was leaning toward a Stihl or Husky but now I need to reconsider given the great value here.
I'll have to find out the max cut length. I am using the factory chain in this video. If you need something longer, I'm reviewing the new 32" ECHO CS-7310P in the next week or so.
I don't recall testing the 590, but I can say the 620PW is a beast! I really like the full wrap handle. It did a great job on the maple tree in this video.
How this saw holding up I was wanting the 24" version but there sold out looking at the 27" but think that to big a bar for a 59cc engine to run , Any input from you would be awesome also great channel thanks for the videos
Just bought this saw, actually the Shindaiwa 600SX which is a red version of the same thing. I asked about at 27" bar but the salesman said that he would not go bigger than 24" for this saw as it would cut slow pulling those extra links. He did alright with that maple but I'll be using it on Australian hardwoods. Mine came with a 20" and I will buy a 24".
Hello from Piqua Ohio. I run a 24 inch bar. I'm Cs 590 timberwolf. I like it it cuts perfect. I also have a 20-in bar. I run the 27-in bars on my cs7310p and a 32-in bar on my cs800p I really enjoy my Echo chainsaws.
Yes I purchased the 590- P 28 Bar an it does just as well as a Stihl 391,441,460 witch I own as well an does not cost as much I owned 1 Husqvarna 297 1997 MDL an I gave it to my Wife's Uncle an he's still using it to this Day. It's the care taker is what makes products Great ,can you Dig it .
Hey mark, good vid. I have a quick question, have you used the cs-590, and if so, is there enough difference to cover the $150 difference between the 590 and 620? I need a new saw in that range, and it will be an echo, the only difference is which model, 590 or 620.
The differences aren't very dramatic and they share a lot of the same parts. If you're cutting firewood or clearing out your farm get the 590 and maybe mod the muffler and richen the jets. I'm running a 27" bar on my cs 590 with those mods and I'm very happy for the price I spent on the saw.
@@MarkThomasBuilder I think it's worth doing. I cut back the deflector on my 590 because it zig zagged 180 before it left the exhaust. The carb was tuned too lean from factory as well.
Boy I love that wrap handle I have the shindaiwa version and they want over $100 just for wrap kit. So Yes I guess i should have got the echo but shindaiwa looks better and i also thinks runs better.
@@MarkThomasBuilder yes the 620/600sx same saw but echo you can get wrap handle which bumps weight 4 ozes. No biggie. That handle looks awsome but for add on later cost a lot.
Markthomasbuilder One of the very few things I dislike about Echo is their non-industry standard bars. They take different mounts than almost all of the large saw manufacturers like Stihl, Husqvarna, and Dolmar/Makita. Then they might be the only saw manufacturer in the world with a saw that takes a 27" bar. Most bars go up in two or four inch increments. It is the reason I sold my CS-500P; no one was making a narrow kerf bar with a 216 mount. If your 620P was anything like my 500P you will be amazed at the extra performance there is in that saw by removing the limiter caps and fine tuning the carb with a tach. Wait until she is really broken in...at least fifteen full tanks of mix then get a good tach and set the saw for the maximum RPM shown. (Recognize you will void the warranty if you do it yourself but take it to an Echo dealer and show them it isn't turning out the max RPMs. The 500P had a fairly open muffler so modding it gained very little. But fine tuning the carb for my area made a world of difference. Echos are great saws and are putting a hurting on Stihl and Husqvarna with the computer adjusted carbs. Stihl and Husqvarna both have lost so many sales to Echo and Dolmar/Makita they are now re-offering their computer carb saws with adjustable carbs. Even though the computer carbs added $150 to the sales price, the new non-computer saws don't show any price difference.
Thanks for the advice! Do you know the max RPM's I could get from the 620P if I trick it out? The history behind the computer carbs is interesting. Thanks for sharing!
The owner's manual says 12,600 - 13,200 RPM. My guess would be that they are set out of the factory for the lower number or just slightly over. On my 500P it was set 500 RPM below max. There was no way with the limiter caps in place I could get it to 13,700. So I took them off, got some new ones that I took the little tabs off, put them back in place so I had an easily adjustable carburetor. At 13,700 the saw took on a whole new life. I imagine your 620P will respond similarly. But run at least fifteen tanks of gas through it before doing any adjustment. Your spark plug will often tell you if you are running rich or lean. Stay away from too lean/over 13,200. Echo sets that number for a reason. Unless you are a professional saw builder/tuner like Jack Beeler (Hotsaws 101) I would not exceed Echo's recommendation for WOT. Jack uses a tach but often exceeds WOT limits. One other suggestion if you want to really see that saw cut some wood, go with a 20" bar and one of the new Oregon EXL full chisel chains. (Loggerchain.com) I find them comparable to the Stihl RS full chisel chains. You are losing at least half a horsepower with that 27" bar.
OBX Koastie husqvarna D009 mount bars will fit with a little slop but you can buy an adapter or use the metal strip from windshield wipers to take up the difference and the oil hole lines up fine.
You'll need to use the soft case for the wrap handle model. Which is pretty nice. I never use cases anymore to be honest. But I like the soft case. Or you might be able to find another brand case to fit it. Not certain. Let us know what you figure out. 👍
The 620 is outcutting my ported ms361. By a long shot! Definitely the best 60cc saw I own. The 361 has been worked over extensively. The cs-620p is just muffler modded, base gasket delete, and tuned correctly. A whole different animal. The ms361 is a pound lighter and a bit more slim. It's also a screamer, whereas the 620 is a torque monster. Love them both, but the echo is a better saw if we're being honest here. 👍 That said, I won't be selling my stihls either. I enjoy them all
You damn right about that i wouldnt hesitate to go as far to say if the saw i could get my hands on was my stihl ms261 with 18inch bar i still wouldnt think twice about it id have tha tree down and sawed up in no time!!

Sounds great! Good luck with it and be safe!
590 is great saw Best for the price.
I ordered one last week. It’s coming in today. I can’t wait to crank it up.
This saw is awesome! Let me know what you think. It may take a few tankfuls of fuel for the engine to really open up.

Thanks! This was my first time running a 27" bar. It's not as intimidating to run as I thought. I like it a lot!
i measure on my bar 16 inches and than mark it usually by filing the paint off and than use that to measure. pretty impressed with that saw.
That a good way to cut firewood length consistently.
